It seems that it had a ROM on it which had some system files on the SD. Did it have two partitions ?
How about trying to boot it with back button + power ? It should take you to the fastboot menu.
The first question would be do you rooted your desire?
How do you formated your sd card.

I'm guessing the same as paul.c...
Assuming the Desire was not bought brand new, had a custom rom on it, partitioned SD card, re-formatting the SD has screwed up the ROM...
So the options are to see if there's a recovery installed as paul.c said, Power on while holding VOL Down and probably RUU ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=869048 ) it to start with...

Here was my situation, I flashed clockwork mod recovery and then got in, I formatted every partition except sd-card which I formatted in windows(1 partition 7.9GB). Now I couldn't get it to recognize, it wasn't mounting. So I took the battery out, took the SD Card out and then connected it with windows using SD Card reader, it was fine. Now I couldn't get into recovery, I was stuck at Bootloader/FastBoot. So I installed the only India_Asia RUU available and got it into a SLCD Brick(It probably downgraded the HBoot). So, I got a Desire in a brand new shape with the SLCD not working. What do I do? I don't have a gold card and I cannot get into the settings for enabling USB Debugging.
hey, have you been able to get this to work? i'm in the exact same position!
Tried a WWE Rom ?

I landed in the same situation. Did you find a solution, Dragooon123. My problem differs in that I cant get into Fastboot either, or even if I can, I cant see anything. Just found out now that the Desires in India are SLCD.
You could create a gold card and flash a generic htc ruu.

Thank you ste1164 for your replies here and in my original thread. I dont have a goldcard and cant create one now. Adb doesnt detect my device. Although fastboot does.
Hey!
I have an HTC Desire and unfortunately I have the famous problem which is the rebooting loop. I have some questions :
- How can I access the memory card If I can't get into the main menu ? or Do I need an adapter to access it directly from th computer?
- How can I flash a new rom ? I need a way from the 3 androids screen .. since I can't get in to the main menu and do it through re-flashing programs
Thanks you!
Take the SD card out of the phone and into the PC via a MicroSD card adapter and SD card reader on the PC
Hi guys,
I had a problem with my HTC desire (running ICS by Sandvold) after my battery went dead in a middle of a call.
After that I wasn't able to start the phone, I thought that I have to burn the rom again but when trying to do so it gave me and error saying "can't mount /sdcard". I'm not sure what this means. I tried to clear the SD ad put the ROM back from my laptop but still got the same error. When I tried to partition again the SD I couldn't move the ext2 to ext3.
Now, when I boot normaly I get the "Wellcome" screen that apear when you first enter the ICS but when pressing on the "start" the phone hangs! Sometimes it only shows the time and battery status. sometimes, nothing...
Unfortunally the USB debug mode is not enabled and I'm not sure how can I enable it from outside the phone.
For now it seems like I "bricked" the phone somehow although I still have recovery boot.
Any help will be much appritiated!!!
Thanks a lot,
Uri
Have you tried going to recoverymode or reseating the sdcard

How can I reset the SD card? Partition it again?
Hey everyone,
I got an htc desire from a friend which get's during booting in a withe screen with the htc logo.
The device is S-OFF and running 6.93.1002 HBOOT
I can still access the ext4recovery but when i starts it says "error mounting your sdcard" nevertheless i tried to install from sd card which of course did not work.
I read something about a usb brick in connection with the sdcard error. The solution started with connecting the phone via adb which i cant get to work. I installed the fastboot driver manually but the adb shell still says device not found.
Could someone pleas give an advice how to go on or which tutorial i should read to progress.
thx

4ext recovery has a "USB unbrick" option in the "Advanced" submenu. Try it. If it still doesn't work, try another sd-card.

I tried it but it still dosen't work. I don't have an other sd card at the moment but it works fine with my card reader an my Samsung Galaxy Note.
Could the card still be the problem?
And for some reason the phone gets quite hot when it just stays in ext4 recovery or bootloader.

It gets hot, eh?
Take the battery out, put the phone in the freezer for 10 minutes, then try to boot. If this works, then your phone is overheating, which is caused by a malfunctioning motherboard.
But that still wouldn't explain the sd-card problems. What brand & class is your sd-card?

It's an 2GB Kingston Micro SD.
I'll try to reproduce the heating i'm not jet sure if it happens every time.
Get yourself a new sd card with a higher class. Should fix your issues.

My self was facing the same problem,i just flashed boot.img from fastboot only from the last installed rom and it worked.
maybe this info may help in your problem.
Hi Helpers,:fingers-crossed:
have HTC ONE X International / stock rom debloated by denkem // new layout// 22 GB space is full out of 24 gb.
i was using a debloated ROM from Denkem which i found thru xda [ i think ] installed months ago, my phone sometimes lags. will work very slow. if i restart it it will take 4-5 mins may be more. yesterday i decided i will try resurrection rom , so i started taking backup of few apps thru titanium Backup app inside phone memory. as phone was already working slow on top of that phone space further reduced due to backup of apps it became very slow lag of 20-30 seconds once i click anything. So i deleted music and pictures folder and made 2gb space.
Please note : i did not try flashing new recovery or ROM yet. For some reason i tot to restart my phone,.
SINCE then it doest boot.
When i try to do POWER + VOL down , sometimes it does open first screen where it shows LOCKED S-on status HBOOT 1.720000 READING SD CARD OR FAILED TO READ SD CARD .....that is all....it wont go any further. ALSO DURING THIS HBOOT screen if i try to detect it in laptop/ it says USB unrecognised / i tried installing htc driver again but NO meaning. Doest get detected in adb either. i have ADBTOOLKIT .
NOte: when connected to laptop it does show that continous RED light indicating charging.
{FYKI: i have KALI linux, but i am not a pro// incase anyone have a solution which involves linux}
WHAT TO DO NOW ??:cyclops:
Just a thought: Since it says that its unable to read the SD-card, could that indicate that the card is corrupted or broken in any way, and that's why it does not complete the startup/loading...? Have you tried to remove the sd card?
HTC one x doest have a sd card...its has inbuilt memory
