Today I rooted my HTC desire using unrevoked, then later I tried alpharev hboot reflash utility S-OFF on it. But it got stuck on step 3.
Then after 20 mins, I unplugged the device. Now after every reboot, I am getting bootloader screen. From that screen I can see that S OFF is successful. But am getting stuck at boot screen everytime I power it up. I found some members got round this problem by flashing nandroid backup or some ROMs. I haven't created any backup yet. Is it possible to fix this problem by flashing any stable custom ROM, from clockwork recovery menu.
Yes, why would you make a post for that and not just flash a rom?
Okay. Will try flashing a ROM. Will anybody recommend which ROM is safe to flash. I have rooted using unrevoked 3, s-offed using alpharev. Can boot into ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.0.7

if u didn't get past step 3 then u didn't s-off . one of the things that interfere with s-offing is if u have a data2(something) script installed (with ext partition on ur sd card) , i remember it caused me troubles back then and i got stuck also on step 3.
I am flashing

I haven't partitioned SD card yet. Hoping flashing this ROM wont screw up things with my limited 500MB internal storage.
You have just rooted.
I would recommend flashing this one... Once things go smooth u can try newer modified roms.

Thanks for your replies. I flashed the stock ROM,and later LeeDroid 2.4.1. Both of them worked without any issues.

I have rooted my phone using VisionARY, I have also Applied Radio S-OFF. i installed rom manager and Installed Clockwork Recovery, but then when i try to install the rom via rom manager, i click on boot into recovery and the phone restarts and goes to the white HTC screen and it freezes there and i hav to take the battery out for it to work again.
I have also tried to use the bootlader to get into recovery but the same thing happens again.
What do I do?. Thanks
Are you sure you're using the right file? Because the link you posted goes to LeeDroid for Classic Desire.
Have you checked the MD5 of the ROM?
How long have you waited with the splash screen? It can take up to 10 minutes on first boot.
Sorry i meant this

How do manually flash Clockwork Recovery as I think that will solve it?
sorted! Yes! I had to do a flash clockwork recovery manually. Thanks
One question though. If i want to go back to normal. (How i got my DHD) Is that possible? So i can use official HTC/Android software/firmware
just flash back the nandroid backup u did (assuming u did do a nandroid backup before u flash)
Question.... i rooted my phone using unrevoked and installed 2.5.0.1 but now i want to use the 3.0.0.6 i have it downlaoded and on the sd card of my phone and i ran it in recovry and it loads fine how ever when i restart my phone the recovery keeps reverting to 2.5.0.1
could someone just tell me where im going wrong with this XD
cheers the only thing i can think of doing is instaling a RUU then rerooting with a img of 3.0.0.6
Cheers
Hi there,
Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901503
Well i have tryed to use unrevoked to flash the img file and it always passes the first reboot how ever it always eather failes with a communications error or it sits on waiting for system to settle. and after a reboot it still running the old clockworkmod recovery
I,ve managed to successfully go through the whole Unrevoked process, selecting custom image, yet I still have the old cwm recovery
Unless I run update. Zip. Or start. Recovery from rom manager I'm still using the old version. Is there something we are doing wrong or is there another method
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
I have succesfully flashed it with unrevoked. Downloaded it from here http://mirror.kanged.net/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.6-buzz.img
However first time it stucks at htc logo and then unrevoked says "waiting for root (safe to reboot if not working)" or something similar, so i disconected phone, pulled battery, booted and stared all again. This time everything went fine.
Only problem was that rom manager was still saying that im on 2.5.0.1, so downloaded this http://mirror1.kanged.net/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.6-buzz.zip and copied into sdcard\clockworkmod\download\mirror1.kanged.net\recoveries\ and deleted the old one from this path.
Hope it helped...
Finally managed to flash cwm 3.0.0.6 using Unrevoked 3.14. Unrevoked 3.2xx just didnt seem to work at all for me. Recovery is now a joy to use, and performing nandroid backups seems much faster
Sorry for the stupid question, but where can i get version 3.14? when i go to unrevoced.com i can only get version 3.32 wich says "Device Wildfire not supported".
Strange because I've rooted my Wildfire on this PC with unrevoked, so all Drivers are installed and it should work. I think it's a problem with the new version.
thanks in advance
Can't remember where I found it, but I still have it. I'll upload it later
After instal recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.6-buzz.img tru Unrevoked v3.14 there is problem with ROM CyanogenMod V7.0.0-RC2 superuser dont work i need to flash back with RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.14.405.2_R_C_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.19_release_141106_signed.exe then again run Unrevoked v3.2 and after that do restore with 2.5.1
Unrevoked 3.14, for anyone who needs it

rapidshare link expired, i just tried

You can't update recovery from ROM Manager. We don't have s-off.
Edit: In fact I'm not sure if ROM Manager can do it even with s-off.
My rom manager recovery is 3.0.0.6
I have described few posts back how i manage to do it.
And i also have fake recovery 2.5.0.1 i some zips have amend script and i dont have time to convert it.

I meant, you can't permanently flash your recovery via ROM Manager. For that you need to use a reflash tool (Unrevoked for us) or use fastboot if you have s-off.
Oh, that, right. Sorry, my mistake.
Flashing recovery without rooting
Is there a way to flash a recovery using unrevoked without rooting?
I really need to send my phone to my carrier so I'm worried that they could find I've been messing around with it and void my warranty...

I'm looking for guide step-by-step howto install CM7 on HTC Desire, Phone is not rooted so this need to be done first, also need some guide.
Problem is that phone is PVT4 40000, is there any way to install that CM7, S-OFF nad other stuff without problems?

Partially wrong/right.
You have PVT4 so when you root you need to have AmonRA recovery installed instead of CWM recovery (this comes with Unrevoked). Download the Amon recovery and when you run unrevoked, don't plug your phone in. Go into the menu, top left in the program, select custom recovery and select the AmonRA.img file. This will flash the right recovery for you. I should point out just in case that when you have rooted, backup your current rom by going into recovery and going to backup and restore then backup.
S-Off isn't necessary but you can do it. All you do is go to http://alpharev.nl, download the Flash Utility, burn it to CD or USB and boot it in the POST check. Read the stuff on the utility and also follow the instructions on the website.
After you have rooted at least, you can flash CM7 (if your S-Offing then do this after that). Put CM7 on your phone and gapps (links are both in the CM7 thread), then flash CM7. Reboot then flash gapps then your done.
So as I've understood, first CM7 then S-OFF, right?

I own a PVT4 Desire as well and what I did was: first root it by Unrevoked, then update Clockworkmod Recovery, S-OFF and CM7. Worked as a charm.

Just dont flash any d2ext ROM if you wanna S-OFF, some stock one would be best.
After you S-OFF and change partition table to your preferences, flash the ROM you wanted. ;-)
I've got warning "is your firmware to new?" is there any way to fix this without wiping all data?
fixed by installing once more unrevoked (normal) there were errors when entering recovery, and then I've once more installed unrevoked but this time using amon-ra and all is OK now, so the phone is rooted and S-OFF, tomorrow I will try do nandroid backup and update to CM7
Hi everyone,
I got a soft-bricked evo4g and It is stuck from bootscreen.
I can get it to revolutionary recovery (HBOOT-6.16.1002).
Things that I tried. But nothing happened, didn't help and still stuck on "htc evo4g bootscreen".
Wiping it out (via HBOOT)
Updating PC36IMG.zip via SDCard
HTC Evo Hacks - RUU.exe process, but my version 1.00.000.0, according to The Root to All Evo the process will fail.
As of now I'm lost what to do next. Since TheRootToAllEvo didn't mentioned what to do with 1.00.000.0 versions (which he/she said received an OTA then rooted)
Any help with it?
Update :
I successfully flashed RUU 3.70.651.1.1, but still I have my phone rooted (S-OFF)
HBOOT-6.16.1002. But still can't boot properly.
What do I do next? Can't seem to find a way to s-on thru FastBoot.
Update :
Managed to successfully flashed RUU 4.54.651.1 and I still don't know why It won't boot properly.
Tried the PC36IMG.zip again. My HBOOT doesn't scan my SD, Is it possible that the SD Card slot is the problem?
Have you tried flashing a new recovery in fastboot to see if maybe its the recovery that's messed up? Also you started with a freshly formatted sdcard right?

Preferably, download the amon ra recovery, do a full wipe, [everything but sd card], flash your rom, and should be good. i suspect your recovery wasn't wiping correctly.
Update : I successfully flashed hboot 6.17, tried to flash amon ra recovery(2.3) It was scanned successfully, but never asked me to update. It just skipped back to menu.
I'll try it again once I got to fully charge the battery.
Thankkks!

I answered your post over on Android Forums. Time for you to flash a stock ROM. I'd go with Froyo, personally - I find unrEVOked easier to unlock with.

Will do that, downloading the froyo rom.
Update : Can't install Froyo or Eclair RUU Stock Roms. Its says BootLoader Incompatible. Already in 4.54 ROM, still can't boot properly.
Well it's as close as dead. Can anyone suggest anybody who's super pro that can fix this phone?
UPDATE! : I got it unlocked with HTCDev, still can't boot to recovery (even successfully flashed AMON RA, CWM and TWRP 1.1)

You should try flashing the s-on tool, it may tell you in bootloader that it is still s-off flash it again for good measure. The try the ruu. Then re-root.

Hi,
i'm using HTC Desire
Bravo DVT1 ENG S-OFF
HBOOT 0.93.2001 (PB992xxxx)
MICROP-031d
And my phone is rooted, but i am unable to run recovery, i tried flashig via fastboot then with Rom Manager but it still doesn't work. When i try to boot into recovery i stuck at HTC sreen (tried from ADB, Terminal, HBOOT, Rom Manager. Tried with different recoveries for ex. CWM,RA,TWRP,..
Try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751258
tried all the instructions, but the problem persists .... zip file will be installed through the bootloader but nothing changed and the desire to restart the htc logo when i was trying to boot into recovery
Just a theoretical question, is it possible to root device, s-off and flash hboot without unlocking bootloader via HTC DEV?

Well, you could try flashing a recovery through fastboot. Maybe it will work. If it won't, then flash the 2.3 ruu and restart the rooting process.
ok, i tried to flash RUU, and i have a question, why was my bootloader bypassed? is it normal?
After RUU i tried to flash EXT4 recovery, but when i tried boot into recovery i just get white screen with HTC logo, still same issue
and i am still facing problem with revolutionary etc., waiting for device

you have quite a rare DVT1 device. it would indicate cdma device, but have seen case where it can be gsm as in this thread. is yours a cdma or gsm device (gsm has sim card)?
in that thread the only recovery that would work is RMD recovery, try flashing that through fastboot. i've never used it myself before.
also i've only skim read the first page, also make sure you uninstall rom manager, you don't need it, it's not good for desire.
Big, no HUGE THX mate. finally! my recovery is alive the only working recovery on my device is RMD recovery and my desire is GSM fyi

glad to see you got it working
for whatever reason, RMD recovery is the only compatible one for your rare device (DVT1 and GSM). don't bother switching recoveries as long as RMD can backup, wipe and install roms.
if you're about to install a custom rom which requires sd card partition (most do), we'd normally recommend partitioning sd card with 4ext recovery, but since that doesn't work i'd recommend Gparted.
oh and again, make sure never to use rom manager with desire.
Well everything worked fine, till i faced new issue i haven't found working rom yet, everytime i flash rom i get only HTC splash screen. And i still haven't found fix for it. I am thinking about trying rom for CDMA phone despite the fact that my phone is GSM, but i am not sure what can happen i hope it won't brick my desire
