No kernels and modems are separate..... kernels control hardware like the CPU and keyboard.... modems control the antennas.....

Is rc10 a type of build number. One of the developers has a zip file for rc10 that you flash. Just want to know exactly what that is before I do anything

RC10 is a Gingerbread ROM built by Marcusant. The ROM includes the kernel too. If you are still on Froyo (EC05) you need to odin to stock EF02 with the files found here or to EF02Plus found here. Once you are on GB, all you need to do is wipe everything x3 and flash the RC10 zip in CWM.
Edit: I believe you can use any modem (EE03, EF02, EF10, EC05) of your choosing. Just flash whichever one you want in odin.

Installed it after clearing my Init.D folder. Everything is ok. Wondering in what way I should really notice the difference? I am on stock Deodexed JVR with TalonDev kernel. Smooth as butter, but what makes it even smoother by using this tweak?

- Need to create ext4 partitions for data and system on SD just like you would create one for a SD-EXT, but now you need 2 of them wigh around 180+-mb for system and data to what you want..
- second updaterscripts of a rom need to be modified to mount /sdcard/system and /data as ext2/4 and install on SD..
But dunno how to let it boot or "choose" wich rom, maybbe needs something modified on the internal

I assume you're asking how to convert your phone's file system to ext4. Note: You should only do this pre-flashing a custom ROM.
