No kernels and modems are separate..... kernels control hardware like the CPU and keyboard.... modems control the antennas.....

Is rc10 a type of build number. One of the developers has a zip file for rc10 that you flash. Just want to know exactly what that is before I do anything
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App

rc10, if you mean marcusants, is ef02..

RC10 is a Gingerbread ROM built by Marcusant. The ROM includes the kernel too. If you are still on Froyo (EC05) you need to odin to stock EF02 with the files found here or to EF02Plus found here. Once you are on GB, all you need to do is wipe everything x3 and flash the RC10 zip in CWM.
Edit: I believe you can use any modem (EE03, EF02, EF10, EC05) of your choosing. Just flash whichever one you want in odin.

Stock ROM versions?

Is there a list of the stock ROM version numbers... Currently on eg30 and would like to see the newest version...
Thanks
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
"Real" stock "Official" is only EG30 and EK02. The rest of them EG31, EL13, EL26, EL29 are leaked ROMs (though EG31 was sent to Sprint repair centers, it wasn't shipped on phones)
Ok. And those leaked verions are for this specific phone? Or some other sgs2?and is that their order from oldest to newest?
What would be recommended as to fix LoS and be stable?
Thanks

Yes, everything I listed is for this phone. You are best starting with EK02 as a base and then venturing out from there.
You can find full ODIN updates for the various versions in my signature (which you might not be able to see on a mobile app so I'm listing here:
ODIN [EG30/EK02/EL13/EL26/EL29]
I'm guessing the order is alphabetical... Right?

If you're trying to say that the CM10 Rom is like a beautiful, great, special, unicorn and the original Galaxy S3 stock rom is just a plain boring pony then I have to say you're wrong according to my experience. I got CM10 on Friday and since then all I've wanted to do is throw the phone threw a wood chipper. It's terrible.

That rom doesn't include the modem. So if you want to be all on yhe latest official, you would need to flash the modem too. Or stay with your current one. Its your choice!

Flash ROM first, then Modem.
Doesn't matter. Modems are separate from the rest of the system, so you can flash em anytime you want! This also means when you flash a rom your baseband will not change...unless the dev included the modem which is rare.

Great, quick question. Did you flash the modem too or just the kernel?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
Just the kernel
Anyone tried perseus kernel with this rom?

I installed it and found nothing special about it.
So I can just flash this without flashing modem or kernel?

can i replace the boot.img in the 4.1.2 zip file with a boot.img from a stock att zip and then flash? or does it have to be done after the ROM flash? (noob-ness flame suit on). thanks!

You can, but it'd be easier to just flash the kernel after.

bro, I know my limits, lol. just want to make sure that I don't brick my phone. hopefully my questions and the respective answers/responses from more experienced users will benefit all.
Works fine as is with no kernel swap. Full wipe.
