He guys , Im an owner of a htc desire , and I was using a 4gb micro sd hc card , which was included in the box
Now ,
Today I bought an 8 gb micro sd because it was on sale.
I copied my files , and put the 8gb sd card in my phone .. but it won't boot ,and I read on the htc site , you can get up to 32 gb , so that's not the problem.
currently running InsertCoin CM7/STOCK v25 btw , maybe that helps
I hope you got the answer for me
thanks in advance!
put other 4gb sd card in then make a nandroid back up then copy the bck up to the new 8gb then erase data and cache then restore using back up
When you install InsertCoin v20, you must have a partition on your sd card, so when put your new sd card make a new partition and reinstall the rom

Hi,
I've got a brandnew micro sd 32 gb class 6 (sandisk) and when I take the card in the phone my desire stacks on the white "HTC" screen on boot. I tried to format in recovery mode, without success (format ok but still hangs on boot). On my windows 7 laptot I can access the card without problem from the card reader. the card is formated on FAT32.
The desire runs on AURAX 8.0 rooted with unrevoked3.
Thanks
Thomas

When I swapped SD cards I couldn't get my device to boot no matter how I formatted it until I did a wipe in recovery, then it booted fine.

Hi,
wipe of what? factory? sd card only?
thanks
thomas
wipe
You have to wipe "factory reset" and than it works (don't forget nandroid before)
tom
change sd card
how to do:
make nandroid backup to old sd card
wipe factory settings and cache
insert new sd card
boot the phone
install rom manager
create ext3 on new sd card using rom manager
copy datas from old sd to new sd (using your pc card reader is faster than to phone)
boot the phone to recovery and restore nandroid
should work now

So I think to invest in a very big SD Card 64 GB or even 128GB? As far as I remember it is said that the device supports SD cards with capacity up to 32GB. But if someone tried successfully running bigger SD cards, I will be happy to read positive experience.
I'm using a class 4 32gb card with no problems.

I've been running a class 10 32 gb card for 8 months now. No problems at all.
I too have been running a 32GB card all of this year with no problems. There have been reports that a 64GB microSDXC (the DHD takes the microSDHC cards!) runs on some phones. See .... http://androidcommunity.com/sandisk...working-on-multiple-android-devices-20110927/ ...
I was under the impression that this wouldn't work BUT .... the 64GB cards aren't cheap at the moment so I'd need to be absolutely sure they worked. Seems hopeful as they do work on the Sensation.
Anyone got one to try on the DHD??
Dave
i'm using lexar fast 32gb hcsd no probs so far, transfer speed 10 megs p/s ,its much cheaper than famously branded ones
No problems with 32gig class 10. As far as I know that's as high as you can go with the DHD.

Issue with MicroSDHC 32 G. Not seen by HTC desire HD with Rom ViperDHD v2.2.0
Hi everybody,
I rooted my HTC Desire HD and flashed with ViperDHD 2.2.0 with Android 4.0.4 and HTC sense 4.1
When I tried to change my old MicroSD 2 Giga with a Lexar MicroSDHC 32 Giga formatted FAT32, the system does not recognize any SD card. Is it a issue of the ROM, a problem of HTC Desire HD or ... ?
thanks for any suggestion.

the issue is the SD card. The rom creates files on the SD card and removing it takes away from the rom. So either you need to copy all folders from old SD to new one or just use phone to reformat new one.

Thank you for your fast replay.
It is strange because the phone starts with the ROM also without any SD card.
In any case I copied all the content from the old SD card [2GB microSD] into the new one [32GB microsSDHC Lexar] and it simply does not see any card in the card slot. I tried various restart and the microSDHC appears 'not present'.
I can't format the card by the phone because the card is 'not present'. I formatted in FAT32 and it works perfectly with my laptop.
Do I have to reflash the ROM or is it a issue with the 32GB microSDHC?
thanks again for your support

No first reformat sd card on computer again then place in phone (Dont move any folders to SD just place in phone). If that dont work reflash rom without wiping anything but dalvik cache so you dont lose any of your settings.
Last resort would be to do a full wipe and reflash rom if you dont mind starting over with the rom.
EDIT: The only folder I would suggest to copy back on to your new sd card is the 4ext folder. Your recovery may need this one.
I am using 32GB Sandisk (class 10) and I haven't problem with this sdcard
Hello, I have a HTC Desire, and I have a problem with memory cards. I bought a 8gb class 4 card and the phone began to crash and restarira permanently. I thought that the problem is in the card and bought another - again the same way. Was previously with 4gb, no problems. If you have ideas please let decision. Use MildWild CM-3.8
Sry for the English, I use google

Try Reflashing ROM.
or Use CM7.1
First, put back the memory card you were using before you had this problem (the old one) and flash the ROM you were using before you had this problem, now your phone is back the way it was (without changing the SD card)
now for the SD card, I'm not sure about that, but I saw a forum that says:
"you have to copy all the files from the old SD card to the new one and then change it and it will work fine" but you have to do this after doing the step I said before, Good luck
Hello,
i have a similar problem.
Recently i root my htc desire (first time after 18 month on original froyo 2.2) and succesfully flash a CM 7.1. For this change i removed the old 4gb card and i used an 2gb card, everything works CM is very fast.
Now i want a bigger card so i buy a 8gb class 10 kingston, i copy the partition from 2gb card to this new 8gb with gparted. The phone starts ok but after few minutes if i use an app on sd or an app that use sd (e.g. quickpic or es file explorer) the phone hang i cannot shutdown only restart removing the battery.
Now i return using the 2gb card. Is the 8gb class 10 uncompatible? or maybe an error on this sd? or i have to follow a different procedure to pass from one sd to another?
Thank you for any suggestions

As already stated above if you are moving critical Files to SD card then you must copy an entire Old SD card to New SD card. There is a way out of this just create a Nandroid backup in old Sd card and copy the nandroid backup in new SD Card and then just restore via recovery. Everything would be fine after doing so.
I follow your advise, i re-partition the sd (1 fat32 and 1 ext4 as in old 2gb sd), make a nandroid backup, insert the new 8gb sd and restore the nandroid backup.
Everything works, i can move 2 app to sd... and after i take a picture with camera and then... all apps that use sd hangs: es file explorer, gallery, camera, manage app,... and after a while the phone hangs i cannot shutdown... i remove battery e reuse the old 2gb sd
I was very happy after (my first) nandroid backup and restore, but now i'm very sad, maybe there is something wrong in the 8gb sd
thank you
I tried everything you wrote, but to me does not work for both cards. Yesterday I bought a 4gb and I gave up trying. Thanks for helping.
I've got an 8GB SD Card which i plan to upgrade to a 32GB installed in my HTC Desire
Only problem is my Desire running CM7 Official is also running Simple2Ext and Ive installled quite a few apps now (well over the Desires own internal space)
Is there an easy way to upgrade my SD Card and copy the Ext partition from my old 8GB card?
- nandroid backup using your current sd card
- partition your new sd card (4ext or gparted)
- copy everything from old sd card to new sd card (you'll only see the FAT32 partitions in windows, just copy everything you can see, as this will include the nandroid backup)
- insert new sd card and nandroid restore (will restore your ext partition as before)
not tried this with s2e, but should work
Yes this method works brilliantly as I used it personally couple of times in past.
