When I stream over a2dp there is a "tin" noise on the high notes no matter if I'm using Pandora or just playing MP3's straight from device. I see it on other threads described as "high pitched metallic noises". I can jack in by aux and play the same songs and they sound wonderful.
So really my question is think it is the ROM or just A2DP being normal?

Nevermind.. don't buy a clarion z500. I tried two different devices and same issue.
Yes, the BT stack that HTC uses does indeed suck. CM7 uses a much better stack. Though my impression is that A2DP at its best still isn't that great. I don't have a really good A2DP device anyway, so I'm not sure how close it comes to wired when it's working well, at least for my picky ears.

Hi there I bought a Sony MEX-BT2800 radio this weekend and it has a built-in Bluetooth receiver for phone and music. My EVO pairs fine with the radio but the sound quality is really poor I have background static and a hissing noise whenever the bluetooth is being used. I thought perhaps it was the radio so I tried my phone on there floor model and I had the same noise problems. It could very well be the radio but some reviews I've read online from other buyers say there Bluetooth audio is crystal clear using there Iphones. I had my old HTC Excalibur lying around so I threw some mp3's on it and tried that phone on my radio and the static was still there but much quieter and the hissing noise was gone. So now I'm thinking it could be the phones Bluetooth radio that's causing the excessive static.
So I guess my main question is. Is there anyway to possibly adjust the bluetooth driver or audio stack to work better with my radio. I remember back in my G1 days Cyanogen would release new roms with bluetooth stack fixes.
This might be self-explanatory, but double check that the volume on your phone is all the way up when streaming. I get some hissy noise when the media volume is low, but I know that the sound quality of the bluetooth on the EVO is very good when paired with my car audio (at top volume), might be that you have a defective device.
Yeah I tried some different volume settings. Tried low med and high volumes on the phone didn't really matter what volume was on the phone. It must be the built in bluetooth module in this radio. I'm assuming your setup uses an external bluetooth module?
I have a Dual brand deck installed and I also bought a separate bluetooth adapter (with a mic and a 'call' button) that attaches to the rear of the deck via a cable, made by the same company. Maybe see if you can try connecting your EVO to a different type of audio device, if the problem persists your phone is likely at fault.

I've noticed a lag while using Plantronics Discovery headset. The headset was working fine previously with an HTC Fuze. So, I was under the impression that this was probably due to a faulty blue tooth stack on the device. Has anyone else had similar experience with Plantronics or other blue tooth headsets?

I've heard that CM7 fixes android's pathetic A2DP bluetooth music quality... can anyone confirm this with their Evo?
I've got a pair of Sennheiser MM100 bluetooth headphones and they sound great on my old Windos Mobile 6.1 phone with registry settings modified to up the bitpool setting. Honestly, they sound as good as a pair of wired phones. But they sound absolutely awful when paired to my Evo, with unbearable artifacting apparent on high pitched sounds (like cymbals).
Also, how's connectivity with bluetooth car kits? I've got the buletooth option in my Mitsubishi Lancer, and have to manually connect each time (which is a pain). My other car has a Pineer AVIC D3 with bluetooth and the Evo auto-connects every time, also A2DP works on it, though, again, with poor sound quality.
Yes, it's true. I don't have a very good bluetooth A2DP headset (i bought it mainly for phone use, i don't actually use it for A2DP much), so i can't speak to just how good it can sound on CM7. But I can tell that it definitely sounds leaps and bounds better on CM7 than it does on anything else.
That's great to hear. I'll consider moving to CM7 once they get the 720p video recording fixed. It'll be cool to have my Nook Color and my Evo 4G running the exact same ROM.
I found this thread trying to solve this problem. I've found the opposite, the sound quality on CM7 is horrible. The music sounds like a CD skipping. Btw I have a set of plantronics BackBeat 903+. The quality on newer sense roms like synergy and kingdom 1.3 is ok, pretty good inside, and a little spotty outside. I think because the problem changes b/w roms, it is rom specific and not the evo, although I don't know what the best case scenario would be. If anyone finds a solution, please let me know!
I searched the forum a bit but did not find my answer. I am looking for a bluetooth music receiver like this Belkin although I am looking for a cheaper alternative. BeeWi BBR100-A1 seems nice also. Do these work with S2 btw? Thanks!
These receivers will work, since Android supports the A2DP Bluetooth protocol.
I read the audio quality suffers quite a bit when the audio signal is being re-compressed for transmission, so I backed off from buying a Bluetooth-receiver.
I recently read on Engadget, media streaming over WiFi is becoming reality (actually, this is exactly what Apple's AirPlay is (I think), but without the license fees), so I will wait till something usable is out.

I'm currently using this. Simple to set up and has been working flawlessly since I bought it. So flawlessly in fact that I had to check it for a model number as I just connect and play
Edit: Also, I'm no audiophile but I've not experienced any noticeable drop in audio quality, sounds just fine.
i also use my sony ericsson bluetooth mw600 as my bluetooth receiver...good thing is you dont have to buy two gadgets....and the batt life and sound are good also..
i use bluetooth in the car and home via sony stereo's and it sounds fine and is actually pretty good quality if it wasnt i would use the 3.5mm connectors on both stereo's

For my current phone (Captivate) and any future phones/tablets I buy (Nexus/7) I just wanted to know which decks that anyone out there has been using that works well for calls and playing music.. My BT Motorola T305 speakerphone is a bit spotty and would like to just integrate everything into the deck.
For reference, the devices will be plugged in while in the car, so power consumption is not an issue. Thanks all.

Jabras are usually the best for cars..try them out..
Dension Car Dock(nice design, power usb and audio line or FM) or bluetooth kit for stock radio.
I have only used Kenwood and Alpine decks.
The Kenwood has better noise cancelling external mic for calls. Problem with Kenwoods was the bluetooth features weren't the same across decks, as price went up you got more bluetooth profiles(say like A2DP). i.e low end deck has bluetooth for calls only, higher end had you could call and stream music with car stereo as output speaker without having to hook in a cable.
The Alpine was more of the same, didn't like the external mic as much. For Apple products which you don't have it had integrated Pandora to control the app from the stereo. My next purchase may revolve around how it handles the phone address book.

The purpose of this post is to share with you guys my recent purchase The HTC Bluettoh 3.0 Stereo Headphones. These are the official ones from HTC made for our phones. Those with Sense 4.0 and above and phones with Bluetooth 3.0 and above. What makes these different from other bluetooth heaphones is the fact that they use Bluetooth 3.0 which is a huge advancement meant from Bluetooth v2.1 Enhanced Data Rate. This newer version allows more data to be transferred at a time (wider bandwidth) and HTC has taken advantage of this by providing uncompressed audio with these bluetooth heaphones. The sound quality is so much better. v3.0 is more battery efficient as well than the previous generation. The bluetooth headphone clip allows you to use your own headphones as well!

actually, it's not uncompressed audio. It uses Apt-x codec from CSR which is a cd-quality audio compression technology. There aren't many phones that actually have that codec. HTC One series and galaxy s3 are the ones that pops into my mind. Others (the ones that don't have apt-x) will sound like Bluetooth 2.1 edr no mather which version of Bluetooth they use.

Are you suggesting that these sound crisp and clean? I only ask because I stream music via bluetooth quite a bit whether it be to my Yamaha receiver or my head unit in my truck and because of the low bitpool setting in Sense I get a lot of crackling on the high end. AOSP this is not an issue. Only in Sense.
So my question is...How if HTC hasn't fixed the bluetooth bitpool issue in the software can any bluetooth device stream the high quality?

You can actually use any headsets for jogging and especially walking. Just depends how much wire and bulk you are willing to put up with. Personally, I have the LG Tone+ headset. They sound great and dont make you feel like you are tied to something. They are actually a very practical setup. Any way. Those are my thoughts.

The mic is not built in onto the bluetooth device, your earphones will have to have a mic

it's uncompressed but who cares? it seems those use apt-x lossless codec.

I picked up one of these on the back of this review, and I have to say, I'm really impressed. I got i it mainly for running with, but I've found myself just using it for everything. In the car, at work, - the battery life is really good, and the drain on the phone really in negligible.
My one complaint... I nearly lost my phone in the gym, cause I left it at the rower I was using, but the range is so good ( around 20m without any loss of audio ) I ended up having to backtrack my whole circuit to find it
I cannot believe they did not include a mic in the clip. It really limits your use of alternative headphones/earphones.

I have this as well. I have to say that for a BT tranceiver, it impresses me so much. My only complain is that I can't really monitor the battery capacity in this thing. But at least it will notify me with that robotic female voice that my "battery is low". However, battery life is good.
I use it when I'm travelling because I don't really like brandishing my One in public transport (it's very unsafe to show off your phone here in Indonesia) as it allows me to control my music wirelessly.
I pair this to some other devices as well, like my laptop so that I can use my hifi system to amplify my laptop using aux cable. I don't use the aux cable directly because it's too far to where I usually sit and enjoy my movies.
All in all, I am satisfied with this product.

Because of that sentence, I have bought this device. But NO, it doesn't have the mic in the clip.
Now I am sad and angry I didn't go for a Sony or Samsung.
I have a MW600 at home, which worked perfectly, but last month the clip lost the suspension thingy so I cannot clip it to my shirt anymore... And that's why I decided to buy this one.
But bummer, you cannot use any headphones. You must pick the ones that have the microphone on. And hence, the device is not useful for other stuff, like in-car use and such...
Otherwise, sound is good, can connect to my mac and phone at the same time and can charge it while using it. Really a shame HTC did not put a mic on the clip...
I had these other bluetooth headphones in mind:
1) Sony SBH20
2) Samsung HS3000
and of course
3) Sony MW600

Can you post if any other aftermarket headphones with mics and preferably ear clips or dome speakers that are compatible with this bluetooth device? Maybe if you have others from friends try them and let us know. For now will be considering the other devices you listed for my HTC One.
I am pretty sure any headphone with a built in mike will work.

I have waterproof earphones by Monster designed for iOS and they work perfectly with the bluetooth clip. Any Headphones/ earphones will work with this as long as they have a 3.5mm jack. Of those headphones have a play pause button on the centre it will work as well. The other buttons may not
I've had these things since February(a nice gift from HTC) and I love it. I don't use it as headphones though when I'm home. I have an aux cable going into my surround sound and I have hooked the Bluetooth dongle onto that Aux cable. Streaming the music crisply, clearly, and perfectly through my system.
