Standard non-convincing answer from HTC.
I suggest you prepare the gold card for your set.
And run the UK Gingerbread which runs smoothly on my set.
It is released for the UK market but runs here after gold card preparation.
Best luck.
You can always revert back to Indian specific Gingerbread ROM when released.

AFAIK the 2.3 ROM update will be here sometime in june

where you got this inormation as HTC is giving a standard reply "It will be available when it is released" how you got the timeline when HTC is not willing to comment on whether GB 2.3 will be available in india

budyy do some googling, in plenty of indian tech sites they are running a report where the HTC representative is quoted to have said mid june to end june as the timeline for the 2.3 update rollout in india, singapore, HK, & philli

Gingerbread for India.
I contacted the HTC and requested the timeline for release of Gingerbread for India specific.
I got the standard non-convinicing answer which is duly expected from the HTC. I did not alter any words from the reply but just copy pasting the answer. Here is the reply from HTC:-

Yes, Here in UAE it is rolling out within a week or so... and i would be getting it eventhough i would be in India that time
But in India and Singapore, it would be before June end, as my brother has Desire Z from Singapore.

I have the same issue now Sep 2, 2011, still no update for me.
My DHD is on android 2.2

I am in India and already got OTA for past few months now. Running Gingerbread since June I guess. Are you sure you have Indian Desire HD and not a branded imported version?

i think he didnt use the manual update...........

Any news on HTC version of WM6?

Does anyone know the latest or expected date for the generic HTC version of the WM6 rom?
cheers
I've called HTC Europe yesterday. They answer me the rom could be available at end of Juni or July.
(sorry for my english)
thanks for the reply, but bad news now July is getting mentioned :-(
cheers
Gus
ok, sorry. Where do you find this news ? (for my information)
umm, you gave me it??
I called them too... They confirmed that they 'hoped' that it would come out still in June... But no more specific information other then in the already existing press release in regard to WM6 in general on their website.
Frustrating, that the branded devices 'go first', and that it's merely a political issue not to release the upgrade yet...
If at least a 'decent' expectation would be set, one could choose between the unlocking and the WM6 version of T-Mobile...

Same thing, I called UK hotline and they mentioned somewhere between the last week of june and the first one of july.
It's very frustrating, I've got six I'd like to update and have already been down the unsuccessful road of using the T-Mobile ROM.
I wish HTC would get their skates on with this for people who have been brand loyal to HTC instead of buying a carrier specific model (Dash, etc).

New Official ROM HTC Diamond

Hello to everyone you know if HTC roadmap has a new version of ROM for the Diamond. I have installed the latest available, but I saw that for the new PDA HTC has released new features. You believe that will be available in a new official ROM? Thanks Tony
I got a feeling that HTC gave up on Diamond cause they have Diamond 2 which replace Diamond.
Hopefully not...
HTC will probably never release any official updates of Manila for the Diamond (or any other existing phones). Cause if they do, people won't by their new phones
I don't want to be a nitpicker but could you add a question mark to the thread title?
You shouldn't fire up hope when you just have a question and not an announcement.
On topic: Compared to other HTC devices and other manufacturers in general our dear Diamond received quit a lot of updates. 1.37,1.93,1.97,2.00,2.03,2.07,2.09 and now 2.10. Now think about your average SonyEricsson, Samsung,<place your manufacturer here> mobile phone.
This answare sended to me when asking for WM 6.5 to my Diamond:
Dear valued HTC customer,
Thank you for contacting our Customer Support Center. We are dedicated to providing you with the best quality service and answering all of your questions and concerns.
You recently wrote us about enquiry.
Windows Mobile 6.5 will be available for the Touch Diamond 2 and Touch Pro2 as a free update. It will become available to download from our website under www.htc.com under “support”. This update may also become available for the Touch HD but this has not yet been confirmed. So far no other device models are scheduled to be given this update.
There is currently no official release date but we would recommend that you keep yourself updated regularly on our website in case of any further developments.

Hello Friend,
May I know where did you get update like 2.07, 2.09 and now 2.10?
I only see 2.03 available officially in HTC.

HTC Desire Future Update

Hi, where can i find all the planned updates for the desire? and is FroYo is really different than 2.1?
HTC have not published any sort of roadmap for future updates, so your best bet is to go to your nearest psychic, and ask them!
And to answer your second question: Yes.
Regards,
Dave
June the 23rd ... thats the date we are all freed from 2.1.. LOLO!!
But then you have to throw Orange / O2 etc etc in the pot.. so to be honest ...
look on the forum .. and either get a new rom or wait till next year !!!!
23rd June has only been stated by a member on here - there's no guarantee that either him or the person he spoke to is telling the truth.
Unless the guy knew the iPhone 4 was coming out then

Sorry im kinda lost in translation here whats orange/o2 and why will i throw it? Lol
So basically the 720p, divx playback is just rumors?
So htc will just give us froyo then discontinue the updates and support?
First, Google makes the Android OS, so they'll release 2.2 (Froyo).
Then HTC add their own front-end to it, called Sense UI.
Finally, Orange, 3, Vodaphone and so on add their own tweaks (and rubbish apps) on top.
Each of those additional steps takes extra time, so basically Nexus One users will get it first, unbranded Desire users will have to wait a while for the HTC version, then others will have to wait even longer for the network versions.
If HTC go on the offensive with 2.2 on the 23rd i'll be laughing evilly over here. tbh I think HTC need to get this update out as simply put Sales will fall. the race between the two companies will be incredibly close. HTC need to make sure it's best hand is on the table. and keep there core elements separate and upgradable on the fly.
HTC will just release another dirge of handsets and forget the Desire. Am I being cynical??
Nope,
but with an official, yes will update it, with a possible date i'm hopeful.
i see.. too bad i live in the philippines so i will not get the updates from the mobile ops in other countries..
so the divx and 720p are just rumors?

I don't think you're far off with that assumption, my previous phone was a touch HD their former flagship model, it got one lame excuse of an update that did more harm than good, they kind of [email protected] us over with the 6.5 update that brings a stable and fast build, gave some lame excuse about users not wanting an update anyway
That made me not wanting to buy an HTC ever again, if only the desire wasn't the best android phone avaible at the time and my contract wasn't up for renewal, I wouldn't have consider another HTC.
According to a post on official blog of Polish service provider ORANGE, HTC is due to release the Froyo update for Desire in August 2010.

Use translate if you like, or here's my awesome translation of:
"HTC poinformował nas, że umożliwi klientom upgrade systemu w okolicach sierpnia."
"HTC informed us, that it will provide system upgrade for it's clients around august"

It doesnt matter anymore. HTC already lost this battle. HTC desire cant stand versus an Iphone 4.

Yes throw your phones in the bins everyone, theyre useless now.
No. I just wish Id waited. Wanted Divx support and 720p. Well since I cant get that on Desire nor Iphone. I take the later cuz it is simple better.
We are only customer... buy and enjoy it
The way I see it:
I purchased an awesome Desire my first HTC phone of many. I did not expect plenty of updates but do expect updates to solve issues.
If I dont get any updates then fine as my handest runs like a dream. I dont have any issues and dont need any solving (well only user error)
Surely good buisness is to release a new handset rather than offering new roms to exsiting customers. As long as problem solving updates are done im happy and surely you cannot slate HTC for this.
If you purchased a Ferrari and then they release a new engine, sat nav, bluetooth, leather etc you cannot expect a free upgrade as then you wont purchase the new model!

Typical O2 UK - Jellybean ETA

I read that jellybean was rumoured to be released to other network providers by the end of this week so..
I decided to check with an "o2 Guru" if they could tell me when Jellybean will be rolled out to the O2 branded HoX
As expected they could not answer my query - see below for the chat
You're through to Guru Steve.
Steve: Hi I'm Steve. How can I help?
Andy: Hi steve
Steve: Hello.
Andy: I was hoping you can tell me when Jellybean firmware will start to roll out on my HTC One X handset?
Steve: I'll check the info for you.
Andy: Thanks
Steve: Whenever a new software is launched by the manufacturers, we investigate and make sure that there is no issues in it which may affect the phone. Once it's done, it's shared for all our customers on our website. As of now, the investigation isn't done, so you'll have to wait for a few weeks until it's launched by us. Your patience and understanding is appreciated.
Andy: What stage are you guys currently at with testing? Do you have a ETA for the rollout to O2 customers?
Steve: I'm sorry this done by our software engineers and there is no exact timescale but once it is released on o2 you'll surely get the update about this.
Andy: The update has been released by HTC for unbranded devices and other service providers, o2 are always behind the pack with updates which is frustrating, Do you know how I can unbrand the device?
Steve: Yes the HTC has released for phones which are not network locked. Just to inform you that we don't want our customers to face the difficulty after upgrading the software that's the reason it is first tested and then it is released to network phones.
Andy: If the handset was not branded by O2 then I could flash the generic one that was released by HTC - Some customers have an idea what they are doing when it comes to software for their devices, I think it would be good to have an option to opt in for branding or opt out for development purposes
Andy: This is making me think twice about renewing my contract next summer - I would rather be paying money for a device I have full control over than to be treated like just another consumer
Steve: I respect your decision but I hope you can also understand my limitations as software are released by the manufacturer and then it is sent to service provider.
Andy: Yes I can understand you cannot answer any of my questions as your role is limited to a service desk and you can only give out information given by each division within your organisation. This is not directed at you personally, O2 can never clarify these things - your software team should give out better communication to you guys on the front end
Steve: Yes I can understand and I'll also surely forward your feedback to our relevant team.
Andy: LOL, Ok Im sure that will help me - Goodbye
So still no answers for O2 branded devices - My next move is to approach HTC and ask if they can tell me how to SuperCID
Don't expect any better help from HTC UK.But good luck in your quest.
I think tc was kinda rude, it's pretty obvious this call center guys don't know anything..
In fact most companies are hiring external help, so they know even LESS about the situation
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
The solution is simple:
Bye bye htc and scamming branded phone companies, buy your handset unbranded without a contract!

No Marshmallow for HTC E9+

Hi guys
I contacted HTC customer support asking them when the HTC E9+ would receive the promised Marshmallow update. They replied saying that there are no more upgrades planned for this device. So seems like we are stuck on Lollipop forever. I am terribly disappointed in HTC. It is an unethical company which doesn't seem to be able to keep its promises. No wonder they are doing so poorly in their market shares globally and trailing behind the competition. I am definitely not buying any more HTC devices. And this comes from a loyal customer who has been using HTC phones all his life. But I guess it serves them right. A company that cannot keep its loyal customers is bound to doom.
I will also not going to buy any more HTC because of same reason!
maybe we could use a ROM like cyanogen with Android 6.0 om our HTC E9+. Is there any solution?
On HTC M9+ is there a Marshmallow ROM?
I don't understand why, M9+ have Marshmallow and E9+ have not!Can someone port and help us?Both phones have the same platform.
Maybe we will receive Android 6.0 because M9+ with the same procesor have Marshmallow..

Hi,
I have gone through the issues researched about it and found that the marshmallow upgrade for HTC E9+ is under development. I have gone through the htc's official site i.e "htc.youmobile.org" you can also go through the following site and see the same.

Well, sadly it is not going to happen. The "development" status has been static since 6.0 was announced for the E9PLUS. Nothing has changed since that time. It has indeed been two years now and I believe the device is far into the End of Life phase, killing hopes for any update.
By the way, the processor used by this phone is vulnerable to the spectre/meltdown bugs. HTC has no plans for releasing any firmware updates to solve this.
I am also never purchase HTC Mobile.
Me too .. will never buy HTC again for same reason
