which one the is the best rom????
virtous or cyanogen????!?!?!?!?!
Do you want sense? If so get virtuous.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I use the recovery to dual-ROM between both. I like CyanogenMod's stability and the ability to overclock to 1.8Ghz on Virtuous.
I've been bouncing back and forth from the two since the g2 has been rooted and i respect both... virtuous is good only if u like sense ui. cm6 is faster and gives me fewer errors and runs more smoothly... i got launcher pro with the sense dock and it works just PERFECTLY
Its a matter of sense vs vanilla on 'roids lol. I have been using CyanogenMod since my G1. It's updated regularly and there is a huge community of people for any kind of issues you might have.
goo with cynogen it has a sexy boot up and its fast asssssss hell!!!!! theres less errors at i think you can get a Sense Theme with launcher pro i think
thank you guys for all your help..
You can also get a sense theme with ADW I switch back and forth between LPP and ADW, both are equally good. Now the matter of Sense if you like big HUGE aesthetic visuals then go with Sense if you want more functionality go with CM.
I always used to like Sense back in the G1 days now I can't stand it. But I run Virtuous on one of my G2s and CM and my other one. I recommend you get lcddensity from the market and put CM on about anywhere from 170 -190 see how you like it, then try Sense on about 190 - 200 and see the difference. I will never go back to DPI at 240
but it's up to you...
also Sense has hibernate which is cool.
Go with Virtuous.
It's just so sexy, and Virtuous actually detects my contacts on my SIM, while CM does not.

Sense has quick bootup
2.5 seconds from power off state to on state.

alright ! thanks for the help! your the BEAST!
how do you get such a fast boot time?
Mine takes nearly a minute to turn on!
it depends wether or not you want Sense or not. Cyanogen is still vanilla android with extra features. Virtuous is a port of Sense for the G2 from the DZ
also if i just found out that Cyan 6.1 hasa feature that changes the notification bar to black if thats one of you main likes of sense.
I am running Cyanogen 6.1 RC3 mainly because i love Vanilla Android and sense looks pleasant but feels more bloated.
just my 0$.02
i like sense ui but i prefer cm
if u like sense, go for virtuous
I just got my G2 today and have tried both CM6 and Virtuous. I think CM6 is a better daily driver. While Virtuous appeals to my go out on the weekend eyecandy phone. I like both.
Well i have been running virtuous for 2 weeks now and i havent even thought about trying cyanogen yet since sense is so sexy and fast for me even though i havent overclocked it....no lag at all and just love the features they added for the desire z .... cyanogen is faster obviously but try virtuous....im sure u will love it
Simply, which one is better on battery life?

Varies from phone to phone, CM7 is great if you have wifi but it isn't supported for mobile data control on Juice Defender yet so i'm sticking to Sense until then.

In addition to that, using different kernels (if you're rooted) with different governors also helps to extend battery life (depending on how you are using your phone).
Each phone is different.
I did notice that when I went to CM7 my phone runs alot smoother/faster and I get about the same battery life as I did with Stock and Fresh ROM. Sticking with CM7 then, even though I do miss some of the HTC widgets
Once I get a ROM set up and find a good kernel, I usually get pretty similar battery life on sense or CM7. I can usually get both to go 12-24hrs.
Also, once it works on CM7 all the way, Launcher Pro Plus (pay version) has a lot of widgets very similar to sense, and the Fancy Widget app in the market is pretty much identical to the sense clock with no animations.

Beautiful Widgets has animations and alot of skins. Been using it since my G1. Pure Grid Calendar is a good replacement for the Sense calendar. Both are paid apps though.

Sense vs CM7
Been running them both recently. I have ran a CM7 build with a HC theme, Everything working (Wimax,GPS, etc.), but battery life was not as good as running my daily driver, RicSims 3.70 Turbo Sense (with stock HTC kernel #15).
I still have both GB w/HC theme and "stock" RicsSims 3.70 Turbo ROM backed up on Nandroid, and switch back and forth whenever I want. Not quite the eye candy/Linpack/Quadrant scores I get with CM7 GB, but better battery life/more solid GPS locks I get with RicSims always leads me back to RicSims ROM.
Right now I'm running cyanogenmod 7 nightlies but getting kinda bored with the same old thing

I love HTC Sense, its so professional looking & has convenient widgets.
I am currently using the HTC Desire Z ROM on my Incredible. It is a port of the actual ROM used on the Desire Z, so it has a very nice customizable menu instead of the basic "+" icon. And it is light & runs pretty smoothly also.
Found here!
But there are several other good Sense ROM's available.
Magnolia is a very nice looking version of Sense UI Here...
Different styles of Sense UI:
Nil's Business Sense Here...
Incredibly Re-Engineered Here...
Warm TwoPointTwo Here...
I also recommend using the attached file to flash over your newly installed ROM, it will wake your Incredible without needing to press the power button, using the Optical Touch device instead.
Good luck & hope you find the ROM that is right for you.

Like it was said above, there are quite a few of them out there. But the best one is all about which one YOU like using best. Chcek them all out, make backups, and see which one has the features YOU like the most. Everyone here has their favorite preference, now its time to get yours
My opinion: Best Sense - Incredibly Re-Engineered
My opinion: Best non-Sense - CM7
Once I've used a Z rom I can't use any other sense rom anymore I'd recommend Uber Z. Link in my sig.
For AOSP I'd have to recommend the same old CM7.
There are quite a few good sense roms but I was always partial to Skyraider. The developer has stated that there will only be one more update to it, but its fast, stable, and has quite a few modifications that can be done while still staying true to the overall sense theme.
As for non-sense I have to go with CM7 too. Fast and stable and extremely customizable.
Try as many as possible and throw some different kernels in there too. That's half the fun of rooting.

I'm another supporter of the SkyRaider 3.5 ROM
There's a bunch of really great ROM's here, so I'm sure you'll find something you like.
I like Sense ROMs apps, like the camera and people/phone app look and function much better than non-sense ROMs. With that said, non-sense ROMs are so much faster in my experience.
Best Sense ROM: Magnolia, the developer is seriously committed to providing the highest quality ROM to his users.
Best AOSP ROM: CM7
Magnolia!!!!

Everytime I try to flash the TrackBall wake it fails...do I have to rename it to something else?
IncROM (sense) by |||bored||| has found a permanent home on my dinc. Like most here i've gone through many, many ROM's and now i can't get away from IncROM. The developer is incredibly responsive and stability has been rock solid through 3 releases. But, like someone said, the fun is in trying them all!!!1

i did like that one but not the keyboard. yes i could have swapped that out, but i have been using miui for the last few weeks.
i also love sense and am using my first ROM (myn's). i love it and really dont even care to change to anything else at all. Very similar to stock with some enhancements. perfect.
I am a fan of Sense roms. I like Warm 2.2 and Incredibly Re-engineered personally, and was using the Z variant of Warm until yesterday when I switched to try IR Z. I love the speed of both of the Z roms, and the new Sense 2.0 is much smoother than the original.

They have access to htcsense.com which is cool, also they have the super quick reboot. Its generally faster, and is what most of the devs seem to be moving to using.
Skyraider 3.5 is my favorite sense rom. ihtfp is a great developer and maintains very stable and functional roms. Used to be my daily driver and might be once again when the new version comes out.
However, for AOSP I can't stress enough how awesome MIUI has been. It's like a completely different OS but no less beautiful and functional than what we've come to expect. I especially love the built in theme manager. It makes switching things up super easy. The launcher is really smooth too, something I could not achieve on any 2.3 rom no matter which launcher I've used.
Unfortunately MIUI isn't gingerbread yet, but they're going to start releasing gingerbread versions to phones this Friday with a fancy new UI. Can't wait!

Thanks Blockhead. I am new to the incredible but have experience with the droid x. They seems to be different mainly due to the locked bootloader on the x. When flashing roms there is no talk of s-off, radio, kernals, ect. I do have a question will some roms not boot because someone's system is s-on? I ask this because i previously rooted using unrevoked3 and have the superuser icon in app drawer but am still s-on (shown in hboot) i created a backup in clockworkmod recovery. Then i tried to flash Incredibly Reengineered rom and it installed fine but when i restarted it just stayed at HTC boot screen, i waited over 10 min pulled battery and same thing happened where it would not go past the HTC boot screen. I did wipe data, cache, and delvk cache.
Ive flashed a few sense 3.0 roms on my phone i ran kingdom rewind, shooter rewind, synergy, etc. main pet-peeve ive had with those are the lag with the rotating home screens. So i opted to a 2.1/3.0 sense (optimized shift) but it has a bug with auto-correct which changes the letter im typing (ex. when i type m it will show a j n change the letter to that) which is really annoying. I wanted to see wat 3.0 roms are other people using/ having success with, and mainly ones that run fast & smooth.
Incredibly RE-engineered3D runs without lag its still labeled beta but very stable Incredible Sensation and Community rom are both good as well. Wait for the new releases on the last two though
Incredible Sensation, Shooter Rewind, and Community are all very nice.

Try one until you decide on one you like. For me it's NilsP Business Gingersense 3.0. No lags, no issues, the guy always makes solid roms.

Synergy RLS1 has been the best rom I've found. My battery life is close to 2 days and its very fast for me.
But I agree, just figure out what you need to move/copy the important things between flashes and try a few until you find something that works/you like.

idky but whenever i flash synergy, when the phone starts up the locksreen doesnt show up for about 10-20+ mins. im using clockwork 3.0.0.8 i think thats what it is. ill just try community and the new pure shooter roms

pulled from sense 3.0 roms, it doesn't compare to real sense 3.0 roms.

I"m seriously annoyed at the fact most of the sense roms or hybrid sense 2.0 + 3, 3.5 whatever, seems super laggy. Maybe it's this phone but for now I have to use this and it just is not acceptable.
Plus my limit number of ROMS due to AOSP not fixing up the voicemail bug with Rogers/Bell voicemail notification not showing up.
So far there is only virtuous G lite that works with VM notification and is AOSP and NOT laggy.
So can someone suggest me a good fast rom, I don't really care about features much, just something fast and doesn't lag 1 second everytime I try to scroll the homescreen or status bar.
I don't know what other people are doing to use those sense roms or maybe they have super patience to deal with the lag.

Pyromod is the fastest rom that I have tried yet. I'm using xboarder's rom now and I am very pleased. CM7 is pretty smooth too but the above two I listed smoke CM7 in my opinion. I gave up on sense, too much flashy stuff that gets old when you just want to be productive. O also look at miui, I was very pleased with that too as far as speed.
