I have a desire hd running cyanogenmod 7.0.3 but want to go back to a stock htc room. How do I go about doing this?
Question has been asked and answered too many times already.
Forum rules state you must search before posting.
Your answer depends on method used to get root and S-OFF.
Hint, look in development forum for "one click root, Eng S-OFF".
Read the threads, follow the guides, if you get stuck let us know at what step. But I assure you, the guides are accurate if you follow them.

Thread moved in Desire Q&A.
Have you got the SLCD Desire? If so, it's harder to root as the screen goes black. There's a guide in the ROM Development forum on what to do - go find it and have a read
i do have the SLCD Desire. why its harder?
Search and you'll find out
im trying to root my htc desire, its currently running froyo and 0.9 bootloader, as you may know unrevoked cannot root and flash without a bootloader of 0.8 or below, are there any simple guides to downgrade?

The latest unrevoked can work with 0.93 now (it just wont allow loading of custom recoveries)
But their are quite a few threads already covering downgrading.
Why why why are you posting in the Dev section?
Read the effing rules and post it in Q&A.. even better, use the fkin search function.

sorry i posted in the wrong section, that was a mistake. but thanks for being a c()ck mate!
anyway, thanks to the one useful post, i cant seem to used unrevoked, i get an error stating the main version is older.
If everybody who needs help with rooting, unrooting, adb, this or that app, in short every question that is asked in this or in the q&a forum daily would please post his or her question here. Maybe it helps against the polution more and more people are getting annoyed about. Don't expect any answers though: USE SEARCH!! should be the answer to all these questions.
If you agree, please reply and keep this message high on our board.

Is there any manual method to get root avoid Unrevoked soft?
I tried unrevoked and get my recovery vanished, my desire unbootable and dunno what to do now.
I can only boot to hboot and fastboot, but reflashing with OTA update didnt help.
Use search, learn to read.

If I'm reading this correctly, you have posted a totally useless thread so new members can come here, ask questions then be flamed?

Hi
I had a p350 for ages, finally got a Vision, and now I'm stumped as to how to push a new kernel/baseband/rom to it.
Searching the forum gave me nothing of value, can anybody possibly link me a tutorial?
Think of baseband as radio, just so you don't go looking for it
The best way to root your phone to do all these things is to exploit with gfree, which will probably require a downgrade first.
Just do an xda or Google search for one of three guides, or all three, the more reading you do the better
Xda wiki vision
Cyanogenmod wiki root HTC desire z
Strawmetal PDF guide root HTC g2 dz
Don't use any other guide but the ones mentioned and you'll be fine, if your confused on what to do after root search the general section of this thread and find a tutorial made by rizzoizzo to flash your first ROM and more

Cheers, it was just the first few things that had me stumped.
I realize that this is still not quite the right forum, but I am new to the vision much like the title of the thread would suggest :|
Alright, I got SlimRom 4.2.2 to boot I just have to go and change to DPI to something acceptable for my sister's standards xD what in the world is 4ext recovery? I know 4ext is a file system format or something of the sort, but I have never heard of it as a recovery...
Please point me in the direction of you "Stupid Questions" thread, or what you have as an equivalent. Most device forums has it sticked xD
First thing you need to know is how to root properly, there are a few ways to gain root but the o lay good way for this phone is with the gfree method, if you did any other way fix it now before you end up with headaches. A post above explains where to go
Next being your new to HTC, I highly suggest learning fast boot

I also have a more comprehensive yet unfinished guide at xda-u, but this will due and will also get you 4ext recovery (ext 4 is a partition type, 4ext is the best recovery made for android)

Knowing what's here ahead of time before you run into a problem can help
First time flashers on the vision may be helped here

I'd link you more guides but its a pain on a tablet, just let me know if you need a hand. And yes there should be a new q&a thread made up for this forum with all the proper links... If anyone want to help out this community a massive set of updated links to the right stuff would be great and certainly warrant a sticky

Thanks, looks like I got some reading to do...
Hi. How to root HTC M8S . I need recovery.img Which is right? Thanks
Just scroll down. All you need is just several posts below yours: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ht...ral/make-custom-recovery-htc-one-m8s-t3114245
General rule (and best practice) on XDA, just spend a few minutes looking and searching, before posting. Most questions have already been asked and answered. Especially something common as "how to root".
