I was just searching around the web looking for ways to tweak my Epic with my msl code settings.... found out that people can change settings in there phones to increase the 3g or 4g speeds even greater.... heres a link for an example. http://forums.precentral.net/palm-p...42-increase-speed-your-evdo-connection-6.html
i was wondering if anyone could make something like that for the epic? because it does not have the option to change the buffer size and some of the other tips

This might be something like you're talking about:

SRF already implements a network speed fix. It's also included in Twilight Zone and VisionKernel.

Just wondering what the build.prop for the G2 says under the ro.ril.hsxpa heading.
So far as I can tell, there's 3 settings thus far known for this value
ro.ril.hsxpa=0 which limits the phone to UMTS downloads and uploads
ro.ril.hsxpa=1 which enables HSDPA for downloads, uploads remain limited by UMTS
ro.ril.hsxpa=2 which enables full HSPA (HSDPA and HSUPA).
What I want to know is if the G2 has it set to anything other than 2, which might signify a special setting for HSPA+. It might be useful in case other phones have the needed chipset, but it's software disabled by the build.prop.
Thanks in advance for any response. I know the ROM has been dumped, but it will take me longer to d/l it than for you to pull it up in your file explorer. If I get no reply, I'll post my findings here anyway.
# grep ro.ril.hsxpa build.prop
ro.ril.hsxpa=2
ro.ril.hsxpa = 2
Virtuous' Desire Z Sense ROM for the G2 has ro.ril.hsxpa=3. Googling has yet to give me an answer as to what value 3 means though...any ideas?

Havent seen anything anywhere, user cp, or in here, but the little quick nav window for selecting, moving between forums is/has been gone for a few days on both my NC and my N1, both running cm7 nightlys 165 & 162 respectivly.
Not sure if its my equipment or a change in the forum. Anyone else experiencing this? I use it alot to quick nav around like forums.

Yup, we removed it because we found an opportunity to improve performance on the site. Turns out that little drop down include a TON of HTML calls.
Our impression was that few people used it. If it turns out that it is greatly missed, we'll bring it back, but we rather enjoy the slight boost in I/O performance.

Ah, ok, thanks for the heads up, figured it was another ui/theme/cm7 bug until I checked my phone. As I seem to do most of my surfing on my Nook Color lately, any boost in I/O is gratefully accepted!
On the other hand its suprising to me that there hasn't been more grumbling as it was really handy to use moving back and forth between forums without using the back button and still keeping track of threads viewed. How does everyone else accomplish this? I must be missing something really obvious.

Damn... Now I have to scroll back up every time I want to change section when I have finished reading a thread. It's a bit pain with mobile browser. I miss the drop down menu and haven't noticed any speed difference.

i haven't noticed any improvement in site performance.
i use the drop down menu exclusively to navigate between forums.
or at least i used to.
it's frustrating to say the least having to scroll back to the top of the page i've just read in order to click back to the forum or to change forums.
this may come as a surprise (or maybe not) but some of us don't just sit in one forum hitting refresh.
some of us have different devices and like to switch between the various sub forums for those devices.
please bring it back.
find another way to improve the performance of the site.

I used to use it for device specific forums only, switching between devices I found it easier to tap menu > bookmarks.
On laggy/image heavy forums ive found disabling avatars to help greatly. At this point i'm leaning towards wanting the drop down menu back (maybe in a limited form? device specific?), as the ease of use outweighs any precieved gains in speed, smoothness, ect.
Really, i'm surprised there hasn't been more traffic regarding the removal of forum jump, it makes me wonder how other people use the forums? Forum jump just seems so intuitive.
I saw a few people posting this buried within various threads with no answers so I thought I would post to see if anyone can answer this one..
Before flashing I had a 4G icon for the data icon in the top bar. Since rooting and flashing a custom ROM this has reflected a 3G icon. I figured this was the ROM I was using "Eagles Blood" but found numerous other Telus users in other forum's mentioning the same thing...
Does anyone have any suggestions on changing this back to a 4G icon.
It honestly makes no difference to how the phone works. I'm still getting incredible speeds but thought I would ask as I wouldn't mind changing it back.

does anyone know if its possible to swap the location of the navigation buttons and the popup menu? Like making the navigation buttons on the right and the popup menu on the left? I dont see anything about this anywhere, but im curious if its possible.
Its in the Framework somewhere. Perhaps I might try to bug hashcode? lol
The navigation buttons aren't part of Trebuchet. Changing their configuration is most likely out of the scope of your abilities, unless you're good at coding.

Well its actually part of the framework. Theres not really "coding" to be done. It would be more of finding things and swapping their values more than likely. But yeah ive done a few things, Ive ported a sense rom to the Nexus s 4G and helped fix a few things in cm7 for the Epic 4G touch, so im not totally retarded i just wanted to ask and see if anyone had ventured into this yet.

Forgive my assumptions but your original thread title made it seem like a "dumbed down" answer was necessary.
You still have to have somewhat of an understanding of Java but if you are up to it so be it. There are a few Kindle Fire roms on github where you can get full uncompiled frameworks files for editing/research/whatever. Or if you want to go through the process of decompiling/editing/recompiling, you could do that as well. But I'm sure you know that already.
[Edit:] As for an answer to your question, I haven't seen anyone here messing with the placement of the status/nav bar items, only editing the graphics.
Hello All I was wondering if there has been a fix somewhere so that I can go into dialer settings after putting in my msl code. Theres a few things I need and want to change in the phones dialer settings as I call them not sure if that's the right term but if anyone knows how to resolve this I would be very grateful. Thankyou
You have to boot into touchwiz rom. That's the only way I know of
sent from my BAD A$$ Epic touch
