Any one know how to get the CIA boot screen animation on the Evo 4G. I searched and found a file but when I flashed it, it didn't work. Dont think it was made for the Evo.

i assume that this was prompted by the recent news of Osama Bin Laden's "death"?
actually it wasn't, I was looking for it for a few days but the Osama thing does make me want it more.
I used to have that boot screen on my WinMo Touch Pro. I don't know if I've seen an Android version.
Someone ported it to android no sure for what device. I have the zip file but it didn't work for me.

Perhaps the zip file is not flashable? Or if it is but made for another Android device, just extract the bootanimation.zip and put it in the correct folder.
Post the zip and I'll take a look at it for you.

Is there a problem with it being a zip file INSIDE of the zip file? There is really no other reason why it shouldnt work..?
Ok. So the zip file you posted was flashable, sort of. It had both edify and amend scripts in it. I don't think you can have both. This is just the extracted animation, resized and optimized. 13 megs was a bit large. Rename if necessary and use root explorer to install to the proper location. Probably system/ customize/ resource. I can make this flashable if you can give me a location of your current boot animation. I may have to adjust the speed. It was originally set to 60 fps. It's currently 15 fps. Try it out and let me know.

I'm using it right now on the newest cm7 nightly, suits the rom just fine .
Find the correct .ogg file, using root explorer or any other file manager move the .ogg file to system/media/ui/ and overwrite the initial one. A reboot is needed for sounds to take effect.
U can also adb push "filename.ogg" system/media/ui
/system needs to be mounted 'rw'.
Good luck!

I hadn't done this on my G2 yet when I posted the youtube link, but I just did it and it took about 20-30 seconds to do it.
I've always found that SU File Manager was easier to do this, so people should try it out.
It overwrites the file, make sure you pressed the S in the top left corner. Then just reboot after you've done everything.
Also make sure that you rename the file and delete .zip at the end.

So I'm not able to find a 'how to' on changing the boot animation, been running incRom for awhile now and figured I'd change things up a bit. Anyone know how or know a link to view how to change this? Thanks in advance
Do you have root explorer? If so you can copy and paste a new boot animation right in to the proper location. Probably system/customize/resource. Just rename or move your current one so you can still use it later on. I just made a pretty badass one recently. If you want I can post a flashable zip for you. Just let me know where its located and what clockwork recovery you have.

Alright. So from root explorer scroll down to system. At the top it has mount ro and mount rw. You want to mount rw. Now find the original boot and rename it to VZW_bootanimation.zip.bak. Go back to the SD card through root explorer, long press and copy the new bootanimation. Now go back to system/bin and paste. Should work from there. Ive never had to set or fix permissions. Holla back.

See here for the boot animation:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=753788
Ok I'm using Skyraider and my method of creating a boot animation was a little bit different then the link above....I had found another link on Android forums that explained how I could un-zip my existing bootscreen animation and modify the files....after doing this you simply re-zip ALL of the files using winzip with certain settings and then move the new zip file to the appropriate place in your file system dependent mainly on your Rom.....this way is a lot easier and instead of creation from scratch you will already have a base line template to work off....ill boot my computer here in a few minutes and post my boot animation and the link to that site.....Idt exactly how to do boot image posts and I'm curious if boot animations are Rom specific... if not then you guys can just go ahead and install my boot animation to check it out and try to teach yourselves

I too have been trying to create a custom boot animation, only with sound as well.
I've managed to get the animation to work, but the sound never plays. I have the sound set as an 80 kbps mono 22050hz mp3 named 'android_audio.mp3' and I'm using the newest version of Synergy Mod. Both bootanimation.zip and android_audio.mp3 are sitting in /system/customize/resource right now.
What is it that I'm doing wrong?
Here's a post from droid life about how to create your own, and they aren't ROM specific.
http://www.droid-life.com/2010/04/13/how-to-create-a-droid-custom-boot-animation/
First off, i know this is a repost but can't seem to locate where i originally found the thread/post. So to make it quick if someone has the link, feel free and post it. On the other hand, I tried to rename the bootanimation.zip located in system/customize/resource to replace it with another boot animation that i found in themes sub forums. When i booted up it was blank and pretty much skipped the boot animation. Is there any other way to change it besides that? Don't get me wrong, i just spent 20 minutes using the damn search engine which got me nowhere. Maybe I'm an idiot but whatever. Thanks alot
I'd say download again and install.
or
Rt click on the zip and make sure it's not renamed to bootanimation.zip.zip
either way you should
clear cache

If you unzip the boot animation zip, you will find a text file called desc.
Open it and one of the numbers represents the fps. You could try changing the value to something higher.

Any file manager should be able to create zips. Try Astro, or root explorer, or something.
Just a something to know though...if you rezip it on a pc using winrar or 7zip or something, you must change the compression method to "store". If you leave the compression method to the default "normal" it will not work. (you phone will boot but instead of a boot animation you will have a black screen)
And i believe the apps that Andoo listed above dont have the option to change compression method when zipping files, so im not sure if they will work ok. They could...but if they dont thats probably the reason why. Theres no harm in trying them though.
