[Q] incRom 1.4 boot animation - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I'm not able to find a 'how to' on changing the boot animation, been running incRom for awhile now and figured I'd change things up a bit. Anyone know how or know a link to view how to change this? Thanks in advance

Do you have root explorer? If so you can copy and paste a new boot animation right in to the proper location. Probably system/customize/resource. Just rename or move your current one so you can still use it later on. I just made a pretty badass one recently. If you want I can post a flashable zip for you. Just let me know where its located and what clockwork recovery you have.

Is that specific to incrom? I use that method all the time and never had to fix permissions.

Here's the file to push with adb or root explorer. Just take the 3 out of the name. Let me know if you need help and what you think of the boot.

Ok need alil help on this one, I can do it through recovery but for the sake of learning to do this another way I'd like to try it through root explorer. I found the original boot animation listed under system/bin/ what do I need to do from there? Rename the original one and do I change permissions on that one and if so which ones do I check and uncheck?

Alright. So from root explorer scroll down to system. At the top it has mount ro and mount rw. You want to mount rw. Now find the original boot and rename it to VZW_bootanimation.zip.bak. Go back to the SD card through root explorer, long press and copy the new bootanimation. Now go back to system/bin and paste. Should work from there. Ive never had to set or fix permissions. Holla back.

Not too difficult, in root explorer go to system..app then delete. Make sure u mount as r/w.

I would assume one would have to be running a deodexed rom, then find a mod that did what u need
Greetings,
I'm also attempting to delete select apps.
I'm running on a rooted (Unrevoked 3.21 & Unrevoked-forever) stock ROM.
However, any attempt to delete an app while SU'd in Terminal-Emulator, returns
failed; read-only filesystem.
What am I doing wrong?
Thank you for all your time and consideration.
--Chris
The way I deleted these apps was the following: I have clockwork recovery running. So I ran that. Then in the recovery screen, You select partition menu and mount the /system. Next I ran cmd and opened the adb shell. The command to remove app is "rm /system/app/ + name of app" if you need more info, let me know.
Hope that helps.

If you have root explorer you can do it easily. If you do not have it, you should. Worth every penny if you don't understand adb yet.
Anyway, with root explorer, you just download a swype enabled rom. Open root explorer and navigate to the swype enabled rom on your sdcard. Make sure R/W access is checked at the top of root explorer. Locate the app directory and longclick on the swype apk. Select extract and it will extract the file to your system/extracted folder or something like that. I believe it tells you where it puts the file so keep an eye out. Now locate the library directory and find the swype library file and extract. At this point you just need to copy the files to your system app and library directories. When you have the files placed in their respective directories, navigate to the swype apk file and install it from within root explorer. Now your golden. Make sure to enable swypw in you keyboard settings.
Hope this is legible enough to help.

[Q]: Boot Animation Help

First off, i know this is a repost but can't seem to locate where i originally found the thread/post. So to make it quick if someone has the link, feel free and post it. On the other hand, I tried to rename the bootanimation.zip located in system/customize/resource to replace it with another boot animation that i found in themes sub forums. When i booted up it was blank and pretty much skipped the boot animation. Is there any other way to change it besides that? Don't get me wrong, i just spent 20 minutes using the damn search engine which got me nowhere. Maybe I'm an idiot but whatever. Thanks alot
I'd say download again and install.
or
Rt click on the zip and make sure it's not renamed to bootanimation.zip.zip
either way you should

[MOD]Phantom's Build.prop Tweaks

Taking this down for now, I have a rom coming out tonight
Hey all, some of you may know me from other sammy forums. I currently don't have a galaxy s iii yet, so am limited to what I can do in terms of development at the moment, but would like to release some build prop tweaks for you guys to get things running a little smoother.
The build.prop is attached at the bottom, just unzip and adb push to /system or place it there using root explorer and change permissions to match the existing file.. Enjoy, I will have more to come soon
For the latest lf9 Update.
Awesome to see you here! Used Blazer on my SII right up until last month! Can't wait to see whats in store.

Trying to get Google Wallet working...please help?

Ok, so I know there has been a lot of talk about this already. I searched and read numerous posts but I am still having problems. I dont know if I am reading old threads about this or what but this is what i have done. I downloaded "wallet installer". Im not sure how old the version was but it did in fact change the build prop to say nexus. I installed google wallet and now the "setup tap and pay" tab was finally there. I added a card to set it up and the card was added fine. But then it says "tap and pay failed". I don't know how to fix this problem at this point. I have even tried getting an older version of google wallet, but that did not work either. I tried the xposed installer, but it didnt work either. Is it possible to get this working on our phones?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I was having the same issues as you. I would install the GW Installer, reboot to find my device ID changed to GNex, install GW from the market and set up Tap and Pay, then Restore my build.prop in the GW Installer only to find out that the TnP feature wouldn't survive the build.prop restore. (I think the problem stems from an old version of GWInstaller and the new version of GW.apk. Installer needs updated I believe)
I did it probably 6 times and failed each time. But, in the end I used Loserskater's modded version (which is the latest) and it works fine. Just uninstall any version you have of GW and then push his modded version to /system/app and set permissions, reboot. Open up GW and set up TnP and your are good to go from there.
My Google Wallet physical card should arrive today in the mail. Right in time for Christmas shopping.

Ok. These are not apps that you install in the traditional way (ie Package Installer). What you want to do is go the the OP of that thread I linked and download this one (com.google.android.apps.walletnfcrel-2.0-R141-V14-MODDED.apk). Then using a file explorer like Root Explorer or ES, you copy that apk and open /system/app and paste it there. Once you do that, longpress on the app and set permissions to 644 (rw-r-r). Once that is done, back out of your file explorer and reboot. Then your GW will be installed. Upon reboot, you'll see it say, Updating Apps 1 of 1.
Open you app drawer, fire up the app and set up TnP.

It says copy task failed when i try to "copy to" or move task failed when i try to "move to". Maybe its doing this because i searched for the file in ES instead of locating in manually?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Ok then. So you found the app. That is good. The reason why it won't move to /system/app is probably becuase you need to mount the /system partition in the file explorer. Since I don't use ES, I can't help you with that.
With Root Explorer, there is a button on the top left that stated "Mount R/O or Mount R/W". You need to mount your /system/app as RW.
Edit:
Here is how to mount it and where to find the settings to do so with ES.
