I'm using it right now on the newest cm7 nightly, suits the rom just fine .
Find the correct .ogg file, using root explorer or any other file manager move the .ogg file to system/media/ui/ and overwrite the initial one. A reboot is needed for sounds to take effect.
U can also adb push "filename.ogg" system/media/ui
/system needs to be mounted 'rw'.
Good luck!

I hadn't done this on my G2 yet when I posted the youtube link, but I just did it and it took about 20-30 seconds to do it.
I've always found that SU File Manager was easier to do this, so people should try it out.
It overwrites the file, make sure you pressed the S in the top left corner. Then just reboot after you've done everything.
Also make sure that you rename the file and delete .zip at the end.

I tried to use this on Enoms The Official Rom...but I see no UI in media, only notifications, and that's cuz I added that one. Where is the UI folder I need to stick this in?
When I look at the .zip of the rom I can see system, media and then Notifications ringtones and UI. But just in the .zip of the rom I flashed.
Any help would be appreciated

If you have root explorer you can do it easily. If you do not have it, you should. Worth every penny if you don't understand adb yet.
Anyway, with root explorer, you just download a swype enabled rom. Open root explorer and navigate to the swype enabled rom on your sdcard. Make sure R/W access is checked at the top of root explorer. Locate the app directory and longclick on the swype apk. Select extract and it will extract the file to your system/extracted folder or something like that. I believe it tells you where it puts the file so keep an eye out. Now locate the library directory and find the swype library file and extract. At this point you just need to copy the files to your system app and library directories. When you have the files placed in their respective directories, navigate to the swype apk file and install it from within root explorer. Now your golden. Make sure to enable swypw in you keyboard settings.
Hope this is legible enough to help.

So I'm not able to find a 'how to' on changing the boot animation, been running incRom for awhile now and figured I'd change things up a bit. Anyone know how or know a link to view how to change this? Thanks in advance
Do you have root explorer? If so you can copy and paste a new boot animation right in to the proper location. Probably system/customize/resource. Just rename or move your current one so you can still use it later on. I just made a pretty badass one recently. If you want I can post a flashable zip for you. Just let me know where its located and what clockwork recovery you have.

Ok need alil help on this one, I can do it through recovery but for the sake of learning to do this another way I'd like to try it through root explorer. Rename the original one and do I change permissions on that one and if so which ones do I check and uncheck?

Alright. So from root explorer scroll down to system. At the top it has mount ro and mount rw. You want to mount rw. Now find the original boot and rename it to VZW_bootanimation.zip.bak. Go back to the SD card through root explorer, long press and copy the new bootanimation. Now go back to system/bin and paste. Should work from there. Ive never had to set or fix permissions. Holla back.

What boot animation are you trying to use? Post the link.
Most of them are flashable if they are in zip format, you do that through recovery. If the file is PC36IMG.zip though, that's through your boot loader.
Also what recovery are you on?

its just droid x one, i want with volume, and i dont get what you mean by what recovery? i have clockwork recovery when i go to recovery and ****
Clockwork recovery is your recovery. The name "recovery" is a little misleading personally but whatever. Anyhow, I dont think it's possible to get sounds on your boot animation since you are using miui (aosp roms don't have it built in). I think there is a thread around here about getting them, I just don't know where. Search for it if you like.
To get the actual animation though, just put the bootanimation.zip file on your sd card, not in any folders or anything. Then go into your recovery (clockwork), and flash bootanimation.zip from there. No need to wipe anything usually.
The instructions listed on that thread you linked are for doing it from your computer, a little more complicated than mine.
Sent from my hand with XDA Premium installed
will try thanks
said that installiation aborted, can you recommened a rom to use? i'm still searching for a fav
MIUI lets you change boot animation and sound through the Theme Manager. The files are stored in different locations than on any other rom. If you'll link me to the file I'll make you a mtz file to use in Theme Manager and you can set any sound as the boot sound.

Try wiping cache and dalvik then reflashing the rom over itself. Don't wipe data and everything will be the way it was before the reflash. You can also try fixing permissions through Rom Manager or in Amon Ra recovery "fix apk uid mismatches". If you do both of these and the Theme Manager still doesn't work, the mtz file won't work.
I'm a little busy, but I'll go ahead and start on it. When I'm done I'll post it here along with directions assuming you get Theme Manager to work.

Well an mtz file won't work on that rom. I don't think the boot animation will work the way it's currently set up. I'll try it on my phone and see. If it doesn't work then the file names will need to be changed. I can do this for you but it will probably be tomorrow before I can finish it. If it works as is I will give you directions on how to get it working on that rom.

okay so i dont really like sense's transition animations so i started searching for some new ones and came up with this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920024
decided to share it with the G2/DZ community cause i know some of you guys dont like sense transitions either
im using virtous unity, i dont see why it woudnt work on any other rom
REMEMBER TO MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE DOING THIS just so if you want the original transitions back or if anything goes wrong or if your rom is not compatible etc
i recommend using the metamorph method, its way easier
for those who arent familiar with metamorph u can dl it for free on the market and do the following:
1-download the transition youd like from here :
https://bitly.com/bundles/haxzamatic/1?preview=1
2-place the zip in the root of the sdcard (or any other folder you want)
3-open metamorph and select Unzip/Extract new theme
4-go to the root of your sdcard or the folder you made and select the zip
metamorph will extract the zip and a new window will pop up select close (pretty much your only choice)
5- tap where it says SubTheme: framework-res.apk
Located in /system/framework/
(Requires Reboot)
your device will reboot and there you have it new transitions!!
im using the fold ones myself and they look amazing!!
awesme.thanks
nice work. thanks

First you need your audio file that you want to use then use root explorer with read write turned on to copy the file to the /system/customize/resource folder then use root explorer to navigate to /system/customize/CID in this folder you will find a file called default.xml long press on this file the open it as a text file scroll to the bottom of the text list and you will see an entry for bootanimation and bootsound you can now either enter the name of your audio file or rename you audio file to match the name in the default.xml I have use the on the HTC HERO HTC EVO And the HTC EVO Shift and it has worked every time
