I am on OMJ GB Rom and I have seen this with other GB ROMS... I don't see the update profile and PRL icon... any suggestions on how to get to this or is there any APK around to add this? I searched in the forum and could not find it. Thanks
You need to flash a sense rom, update there, then flash back.
Wierd I assumed I was on a sense rom although. Even the codes work it is just that the "settings" are different. Thanks anyways
Never a problem. I always keep a backup of myn's warm 2.2, just to update my PRL; I primarily run CM7.

ok so after 3 days of research and trying about 6 different ROM's i cant get my evo to work on 3g
ive googled my issue and no one seems to have an answer that works for me.
ok so i have loaded
veal pak, evio3, destroyer v.4 (so far my favorite), emerald, liquid rom, ellite series, and a few others.
each and every time the phone is stuck on 1x, never says 3g. and like many others out their with this similar issue the 4g DOES work. ive run speedtest and it seems to hover around 100 kbs. loading any webpage is near impossible and it took 10+ mins to download the speed test app off the market.
now i know its not my coverage because before rooting i got 150kbs + almost every time. and my epic is rooted and at a side by side test it gets anywhere from 115kbs to 800kbs.
ive tried updating prl, profile, adding in different radios, fussing with the settings, nothing seems to work.
can anyone help me out? its so frustrating that if i cant get this to work ima have to unroot and go back to stock and that bloody sense ui
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Have you tried downgrading your PRL? Sometimes the older one will work better for some people. There's also a fix for crappy 3G speeds. I believe you'll need your msl and you may need to be on a Sense rom. I'll see if I can find the fix.

Are you using the latest radios and such not the leaked ones. Did you do full wipes be4 flashing .
You can run stock with root, restore your backup and verify speeds, or download the stock rooted, or Sprint lovers. Might be coincidental tower maintenance

i have been using the radios that come with the rom, but i have updated them to the latest and it doesn't help. (the only rom that seems to get 3g is ELITE Series III") but its to much like sense
and when i instal the roms i "wipe date/factory reset" "wipe cach" and wipe delvik cach

no i have not tried downgrading but i should try, any recommendations as to what prl i should use. and one of the only things im looking for in a rom is something that DOESN'T resembles sense ui. i really like adw and aosp (lock screen im using simply aosp rom on my epic and its awesome)
on a side note i cant get EVO-NonSense to work

Cyanogenmod is an awesome asop rom.... Im currently on the nightly. Also the sprint stock rom says that you are on 3g all the time...sales gimick. When you change rom then you actually find out what network you are on
Also try the ##3282# reprovisioning fix.

Not sure that it will fix your exact problem, but it is so potent and easy to do, that it is worth a try. I've used it to fix slow 3G and 4G that wouldn't connect.
Ok the other day I did a *228 update and ever since then my 3g won't connect. It barely will stay connected with 1x. I had the synergy ROM at the time. I changed to nils business gingerbread since and it still didn't work. I also flashed my radio and still nothing. Any help plz
Sounds like you'll need to reflash a stock rom. This is a pretty common issue and there are a lot of threads on the subject, it's why you don't *228 on sprint based roms. Flash the stock rom, then the rom of your choice.

Hes right check the synergy rls1 thread for posts by me i had the same issue and there is good info there on how to get 3g back. Also i gave up on synergy because of this problem. Even aftet going back to stock and factory resetting and fixing it as soon as you reinstall synergy and reboot a couple times 3g breaks again, even if you dont do a *228. However i will say doing a *228 is what started the issue in the first place. Something is messed up with synergys epst.

I think you can flash the Gingerbread leak and it will fix 3G issues also.
Hey everyone. I haven't been working with custom ROMs for long, so I'm a little lost with what I might be missing here.
Phone:
Sprint HTC EVO 4G
Cyanogenmod 7.0.3.1
Android Version: 2.3.3
Baseband Version: 2.15.00.11.19
Kernel Version: 2.6.37.4-cyanogenmod-01338-g0374804
Mod Version: CyanogenMod-7.0.3.1-Supersonic
Build Number: GRI40
Problem:
I recently updated from CyanogenMod 6 to CyanogenMod 7. Since then all heck has been breaking lose on my normally happy Evo. I was extremely pleased with CyanogenMod 6 due to better battery life, faster operation, better features than stock, etc. However, since the update to 7, I've been experiencing the following problems... but I do have to say 7 it's beautiful!
Battery life now sucks... BAD!
* Went from 1 charge a day (or less) to multiple per day and there's less software on it than before.
* Battery history indicates the radio is consuming 48% of battery.
Data has been terrible and now no longer works at all.
* I no longer have even 3G, but only shows white "1x" on status bar.
* Wi-Fi is now the only means I have to consume data.
4G/WiMAX commonly doesn't stay connected either or allow data.
GPS is out to lunch. It skips all over the place and loses signal every few seconds.
Questions:
Do I need to update the radio?
If so, where do I find either the latest or appropriate version for use with CyanogenMod 7?
Are there updates to 7.0.3.1 that will fix battery life & other issues?
Some forums were saying to run PRI, but I haven't had that since my phone was stock. How do I obtain that?
Given my phone's info above, would you recommend I install or update anything else?
Thanks in advance for all the help!

Update all radios. Check my sig for a link.
Flash a rooted Sense ROM, based on the Evo (this disqualifies MikG, Director's Cut, Synergy and other Sense 2.1 ROMs, because those are based on the Evo Shift (I've had issues with Shift-based ROMs not reprovisioning data). Update PRL. Reboot.
Go into EPST (Dial ##3282#, Choose edit mode), enter your MSL code (download and use MSL Reader from the Market to get it), Data Profile, hit the menu button and choose restore. Just sit there, your phone will reboot and everything will go back to default. Let it reprovision, but when it says "Updating PRL" hit cancel.
Wipe everything in recovery, flash ROM of your choice.
Use 3G Supercharger if you want.
You can try those things above to see if they do any good.

Try Deck's as suggested above. He is a great ROM developer and often updates. I personally use SavagedZen kernel when on his ROM. For a flashable GPS fix, see my sig.

For battery try out a different kernel like tiamat 3.3.7 or 4.0.6, SZ 2.2.1 those seem to be the best ones you can try the sbc versions you'll get a little more life out of them you can find them on kernel manager from the market.
You can check this out for your radios.

@Shadow,
In order to answer you actual questions:
YES! Update your radios from Calkulins thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715485
Grab the latest update, youll be happy. This will update PRI as well.
There is a RC1 of CM 7.1, which is pretty good. Based on 2.3.4 which is just improved GB. Though it is not considered a stable release yet, if that is what you are looking for.
Considering this gets your signal working proper you should notice imedeate results for battery life. I would recommend the Battery Calibration app from market, follow instructions.
The above GPS link is good, exactly what you should look into. I recommend the Qualcom 1.1 works great every time. However, after flashing new radios check your GPS again to see how it is working. Once that is solved, get GPS status from market and check out all the features it has. It can clear GPS cache, download "assistance data" and give you a precise time it takes to lock on to better diagnose GPS issues.
Lastly, you may want to consider doing a clean install, doing a FULL wipe using a wipe all .zip and clear user data, cache and dalvik. Not sure if you did this the first time, but it helps to avoid any errors from leftovers from your previous ROM.
Since you are going to update your radios, I would recommend updating it thru HBOOT just update with sprint lover's rom here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=830153
Just load up the PC136IMG and let it update and then install the rom of your choice afterwards or nand restore a back up of your desired rom.
Personally either way you update should be fine, but HBOOT seems a bit safer.
Wow, you guys are amazing!
shawayne21, thanks I appreciate the recommendation. However, I'm not currently in the market for another ROM. I just want to get what appear to be mostly radio issues resolved. I have tried several other ROMs when I rooted my EVO and immediately fell in love with CyanogenMod. I will keep this in mind for possible future ROM explorations though. Thanks again!
TropicalBrit, thanks a lot for that repost. There is so much content on this site that it's difficult for a noobie like myself to pick out what the most appropriate information is for a particular situation. However, as time goes on and I get more experience I assume that will change.
I will perform the items TropicalBrit reposted and let everyone know how it goes! Thank you immensely to everyone who took the time to help me out! Cheers!
Sounds like you might need to perform a complete and thorough system wipe, preferably using one of the formatting zips.
Then reflash your rom, flash a better kernel, and download your apps fresh from the market.
I've had great success with Tiamat 3.3.7 sbc and Savaged Zen 2.2.1 bfs sbc, running the same baseband as you on hardware 003.
I've recently "flashed" my Incredible to Virgin Mobile with data, sms, and calls working perfectly. I noticed something really weird happening every time I flash a new gingerbread Sense ROM; my active MIP profile keeps reverting from 1 to 0. This means that every time I want to use data I have to go into EPST and change it back to 1 in every single reboot. Does anyone know why this is happening? Also, does anyone know of a working EPST for gingerbread ROMS for the Incredible?
I have the exact same problem. Every reboot changes Profile to 0. I am thinking it might be in the radio somewhere but hope its in the rom.
Edit:
I just flashed Evo radio 05.02 on my Dinc and its the same thing, so I guess it elsewhere, maybe rom, bootloader, hboot???
Edit2:
Great news! Its in the rom somewhere. I flashed CM7.1 Nightlies and the Profile sticks to 1 Before that I was using Stock+ rom and it would revert to 0. So somethings runs on boot that changes Active Profile to 0. I found references in EPST.apk, libhtc_ril.so, perhaps its a clue.
Edit3:
I've ripped out epst.apk from stock+, reflashed, but Profile still changed to 0
Guys, I have seen several tutorials on flashing to VM, but none fully confirm that everything works. Can you point me to where you got the directions on how to do it?
Thanks!!!

Well, there isn't a definite guide, and you need a donor phone to do it. It actually "cloning" more than flashing. If you need help just PM me.
Also, about the profile, this stopped happening when I flashed McTwist ROM. The problem is probably in the Stock+ and Gingersense ROMS.

I've found out the same thing. Every ported rom I tried does not revert Active Profile to 0. I do hope to find out what exactly in Stock roms that mess with the profile but I am really new when it comes to building roms.
I'm having the same problem with my profiles being switched. Did anyone come up with an idea on where it's being changed?
Yes, I searched the threads and couldn't find what I needed so I'm either blind or it's not there. I'm okay with whichever.
I have read and (thought I) followed instructions on updating my PRL but it doesn't seem to be working.
I downloaded Bio-Sense 2.1, updated PRL (checked, updated to 86) then reflashed Deck GB 1.3. Still 81.
Can someone help me?
104 views but no thoughts?
For anyone that might need an answer to this, I flashed a different rom, updated prl and profile and it worked fine. So it looks like Bio-Sense was the problem.

I'm not on the rom, but when updating the prl/pri you need to be on a sprint sense rom; so nothing 3.5 ect.
