ok so after 3 days of research and trying about 6 different ROM's i cant get my evo to work on 3g
ive googled my issue and no one seems to have an answer that works for me.
ok so i have loaded
veal pak, evio3, destroyer v.4 (so far my favorite), emerald, liquid rom, ellite series, and a few others.
each and every time the phone is stuck on 1x, never says 3g. and like many others out their with this similar issue the 4g DOES work. ive run speedtest and it seems to hover around 100 kbs. loading any webpage is near impossible and it took 10+ mins to download the speed test app off the market.
now i know its not my coverage because before rooting i got 150kbs + almost every time. and my epic is rooted and at a side by side test it gets anywhere from 115kbs to 800kbs.
ive tried updating prl, profile, adding in different radios, fussing with the settings, nothing seems to work.
can anyone help me out? its so frustrating that if i cant get this to work ima have to unroot and go back to stock and that bloody sense ui
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Have you tried downgrading your PRL? Sometimes the older one will work better for some people. There's also a fix for crappy 3G speeds. I believe you'll need your msl and you may need to be on a Sense rom. I'll see if I can find the fix.

Are you using the latest radios and such not the leaked ones. Did you do full wipes be4 flashing .
You can run stock with root, restore your backup and verify speeds, or download the stock rooted, or Sprint lovers. Might be coincidental tower maintenance

i have been using the radios that come with the rom, but i have updated them to the latest and it doesn't help. (the only rom that seems to get 3g is ELITE Series III") but its to much like sense
and when i instal the roms i "wipe date/factory reset" "wipe cach" and wipe delvik cach

no i have not tried downgrading but i should try, any recommendations as to what prl i should use. and one of the only things im looking for in a rom is something that DOESN'T resembles sense ui. i really like adw and aosp (lock screen im using simply aosp rom on my epic and its awesome)
on a side note i cant get EVO-NonSense to work
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=758197
Cyanogenmod is an awesome asop rom.... Im currently on the nightly. Also the sprint stock rom says that you are on 3g all the time...sales gimick. When you change rom then you actually find out what network you are on
Also try the ##3282# reprovisioning fix.

Not sure that it will fix your exact problem, but it is so potent and easy to do, that it is worth a try. I've used it to fix slow 3G and 4G that wouldn't connect.

I flashed the ROM a few nights ago and followed the instructions regarding flashing the new Radio pack but after noticing that 4G just wouldn't turn on I tried going back into recovery and flashing the .zip again. Still didn't work.
Eventually I restored the previous backup because of an unrelated data-loss incident. I restored the backup I made of Warm and tried re-flashing the radio .zip but it still wont work, anyone care to point out what I'm doing wrong?
I've tried searching the ROM's thread but "4g" must not be long enough to search for, and "radio" yielded no help either. I would've posted this there but evidently I need 10 posts before I can post to the Dev forum(A new rule?).
Thanks for reading!
What's your phone information(build,kernel,hboot)?
I thought that stuff was controlled by the ROM developer. It's on HTC kernel 15, build is warm 2.2 RLS 5.

As it turns out, last night I was able to turn 4g on, but I'm no longer able to do it now. Anyone know what's up?

I had the exact same problem as you. This just happened out of nowhere which is even more weird. The rom was working fine and then all of a sudden it just stopped allowing me to turn on 4g. I get the scanning then disconnect really quick. Or I get turning on and turning off over and over again. It shows really quick.
What I did was I flashed back to stock with an old nandroid. I went to a area without 4g and tried to let it connect. Of course it couldn't. I then updated my profile 4 times. I flashed back to another rom and it is working again. Still a little buggy but way better than not being able to connect at all.

Did you go back to Warm? And what profiles are you talking about exactly, and what does that do? I like this fRom a lot so I'd hate to have to switch.

I have been bouncing back and forth between his and mikfroyo. You go into settings and go to system updates and update profile. When it's done hit ok. Do that a few times and restart the phone. See if that works. It took me days to get mine working again. I think it was from flashing from rom to rom all the time and updating and upgrading the radio's that caused the problem. I don't think it's his rom that is causing it in my case at least. Good luck
My standard process when flashing roms and kernels has always been and will be when im done with the flashing . Setup widgets and where I want them , apps , general settings etc etc etc . Then perform Update Profile followed by Update PRL . When those processes are done I usually let the phone settle down some then do a reboot . Again let the phone settle down from the reboot . Then check your 4G connection it should work . My only advice is to stick with roms running off the newest radios . That way you cut out flashing radios causing possible issues with 4G .
So i am having issues with this ROM and was wondering if anyone is having the same issue. Well i see that my awake and run time are the same and spare parts is showing 100% usage on the CPU.
ive tried using all the different kernels to no success.
any help would be appreciated.
Myn's warm 2.2 RLS 5
updated radios
kings 11
I've installed Myn and my 4G doesn't work. It switches between on and off really fast and then sometimes it'll go further and scan, connect, disconnect, and repeat.
Specs: myn's warm TwoPointTwo (RLS5)
Baseband: 2.15.00.11.19
Kernel: 2.6.32.25-netrarchy-toastmod-4.2.1-cfs-bfq-havs-more-smartass
PRI version: 1.90_003
PRL version 60674
NOTE!! I've already checked if my RSA keys have been lost and they haven't.
Any tips would be grateful, I'm going to flash Fresh tonight and hopefully it works.
Jj, and SouthernEvo, thanks for the tips! I cracked the glass on my phone and just got a replacement, when I flashed the radios I didn't get the images the dev said I would: "While the radios are flashing you'll see a little green arrow phone icon for a bit afterwords, Wait on this. You will then automatically be taken back to recovery."
If this time around it doesn't work again I guess I'll try flashing a re-downloaded Radio package!
running_onCode, seems that we might be having the same issues, did you notice anything strange while flashing the radio package? Like I said on this second Evo, when I flashed it I paid attention and didn't get any green exclamation points.
I have this problem as well. I've used the app that checks for the RSA keys and it says I'm good. I've also checked via a console app.
What happens is exactly like everyone else here. Once the WiMax radio is turned on it'll scan for 3-5 seconds, then it says connecting to Sprint for about .5 seconds, then it says disconnect, and repeats. I've flashed and reflashed with the latest radio pack at the top here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715485 . I did that so I could run Myn's Wyrm RLS5. H boot has not been flahed ( think I have a really old version). I've tried different ROMs and there is no difference. I tried going back to my previous ROM and it still didn't work. I tried updating Profile and PRL 5x and doing a shutdown>reboot and there was no change. Any help would be great.

Yeah, it seems like we do have the same issue. I'll flash Myn's rom when there is a fix for the 4G or maybe it's just our phones? I got tired of waiting so I flashed MikFroyo and everything is working. I was using 4G a couple minutes after leaving my house yesterday.
Yeah I'm thinking of just flashing another ROM, can't get much help without posting to the ROM thread itself and I guess I can't do that anymore!
It's too bad though, the first time around I had amazing battery life, but this time it's a lot worse
Are you using Titanium Backup? I had the same problem when I used TB, I would wipe everything, flash Myn's rom and them restore all my apps using TB and 4g would not turn on at all, RSA keys were intact but no 4g. I actually did a Nand backup before running TB and after using TB and trying to restore Nand 4g still would not work!
It actually took a while before I figured out it was TB borking the 4g (3-4 installs and reboots). I had to write down all my backed up apps and download them one by one
Hope this helps!

I doubt it is titanium, I had the same problems with RLS 5 not getting 4g. Have used titanium on Calks, Mik, and Azrael without having 4g scanning / disconnecting issues. There was a fix for this a couple weeks ago, somewhere. Too much for me so I moved on. Ricsim said that battery life is 97% driven by the kernel, not the Rom.
Bump! Anyone?
Hey whats up guys...im really not sure what the problem is but maybe some one has experienced with before..
My droid incredible cannot connect to 3g service...i tried installing all different kinds of roms even the latest gingerbread releases but still nothing.
Some times i allows me to connect to 1x but then you see the "3g" on the top but then it instantly disconnects.
Ive so tried 3 different radio from the NIS business sense release...all failed..
Any ideas?!?!?
Or if i just need the stock radio??
Aloha! I'll see if I can help.
1) Do a nandroid backup in recovery.
2) Wipe data/cache/dalvik cache then flash rmk40's gingersense leak: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1087077
3) Reboot and skip set up. Turn on 3G and even test it out for a bit. You should have whatever signal you are used to having return.
4) reboot into recovery and wipe cache, then go into advanced and wipe dalvik cache
5) Restore your latest Nandroid backup
Let me know how this works.

How would this fix any 3g issues by flashing a new rom and then returning to you old Rom with a backup? I seem to have an issue changing from 1X to 3g causing me to restart my phone at times to pick up the 3g signal again.
Primarily, the people who noticed this issue were/are folks who try out the various gingersense roms available. I've been a member of XDA since January and haven't noticed users in large numbers have issues with 3G until these roms came out. Whether it's due to there not being an official base or what, idk but many users have had these issues with 3G since the May unofficial gingersense leaks:
1) 3G being present and fully functional then disappearing from the notification bar altogether even while still being enabled in Settings
2) 3G signal dropping down to 1x and not displaying again until you perform a reboot.
I have experienced this issue and know this resolved it. This rom as well as Incubus26jc or JoelZ's stock OTA gingersense leak, for whatever reason, are a solution to resolve the 3g drop issue not the only solution. Incubus26jc, JoelZ, and Nils each have recommended and note this is a fix. My (non-fact and own) answer to you would be I believe since these three roms are the unaltered and "(un)official gingerbread Sense" files, they recorrect the 3G signal that is going awry.
Try it and let me know how this works. You don't stand to lose anything except a few minutes haha
This solution fixed my problem.
Dang it actually worked. Wish i had done this a while back. Thanks for the simple fix.
Not a problem, I'm just thankful there's a fix.
Accidentally worked for me too
I had the same problem on CM7. Flashing back to my stock 2.2 Android backup fixed the problem. Flashing back to CM7 and OMGB caused the problem to return. I am on the leaked ota now, I have flashed the gingerbread radio, and I am having no 3g issues. I wish that I had found this thread earlier.
Had this exact issue with synergy rls1 and was also told to flash the rom above to fix it. It worked for awile but then 3g issues would return again, even on non sense 3 roms and even on my old virtuous nandroid. If just flashing the above rom works for you and permanetly fixes it thats cool, but if your like me the only fix is to revert back to compleet stock and i mean compleet stock rom radio recovery boot img everything the only thing not stock would be you still want to have s-off as a matter of fact make sure to check you are s-off before going stock. Once stock you need to do a factory reset from the settings menu. What this does is it compleetley wipes your phone back to stock including wiping vzw programing, wich is the key to fixing 3g. Once your phone reboots from the factory reset you will be prompted to dial *228 option 1 to reprogram your phone. Once reprogramed your 3g will be fixed. From there flash clock work or amon ra recovery and then restore your favorite nandroid or install a new rom. I personaly would stay away from sense 3 roms as after fixing mine with the above steps i not thinking installed another sense 3 rom and broke 3g again making me fix it all over again. I have stayed away from sense 3 and havent had any problems since. Note if you have a compleete stock nandroid you can just flash that then flash stock recovery and radio do the factory reset .....

Well, I tried to install rmk's rom and that didn't work. I also tried to go back to stock with the RUU and the PB31IMG.zip file to do a factory reset, but that didn't work either. Are there any other suggestions that I can try?

If an ruu and a factory reset with new programing didn't fix your 3g issue its possibly hardware related. Can you still connect at 1x speed?

No, I called Big Red and they're sending out a replacement phone. I'm one of them weird people that don't use their phone as a phone too much, but I realized that I couldn't make or receive phone calls or texts either. We got that issue fixed, but they couldn't get the data working.
I guess the world of root is gone for me since it will probably come with Gingerbread on it already. Oh well, I'm probably going to buy a new phone in December anyway, so I'll have a new Dinc to put away in the drawer.

Thanks for the link to the root method. I have been studying it and I have all the files downloaded just waiting.
Edit: I did get an OG Incredible, but it came with Froyo on it. I should be good to go as far as rooting it goes. I think that I have an SLCD model though which sucks.

Sounds like you'll need to reflash a stock rom. This is a pretty common issue and there are a lot of threads on the subject, it's why you don't *228 on sprint based roms. Flash the stock rom, then the rom of your choice.

Hes right check the synergy rls1 thread for posts by me i had the same issue and there is good info there on how to get 3g back. Also i gave up on synergy because of this problem. Even aftet going back to stock and factory resetting and fixing it as soon as you reinstall synergy and reboot a couple times 3g breaks again, even if you dont do a *228. However i will say doing a *228 is what started the issue in the first place. Something is messed up with synergys epst.

ok, heres the deal. Ive played with just about every rom for this phone. Then one happy merry day, i decide to install miui (i loved it on my dinc 1) then after getting my fill of it i went back to stock (andybones stock rom i think it was). Now the 3g keeps cutting off so i have to use wifi whenever i get the chance or be stuck with 1x, and it wont send or recieve calls unless im outside. I tried flashing the latest radio, trying different roms, RUU then reroot, but its still having this issue. Anyone else having this issue? Anyone find a fix?
BTW its the miui rom from miui.us

tried it didnt work tho. I even tried reinstalling the radio but it didnt help much. the way i see my best options are:
1) just call in for a replacement but ive already done that so much im sure verizon hates me xD
2) wait for the ics update to come out which i recently discovered is confermed by htc to come out soon this year
3) turbo charge the 3g i do have to get a better connection out of it and just stay on wifi when im at my house
unfortunatley i would really like to find a fix for this so if anyone wants to help out by finding a way or making one id appreciate it. Ive already googled the crap out of this but youre welcome to look around.
You could have a hardware issue, or you could be having the issue that just about everyone had on the Incredible 1 at some point.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817487&highlight=3g+drops
Try that, but with files for our phone. Do NOT use the RUU for the Dinc1. Or, try flashing a stock based ROM like SkyraiderZeus. If none of this works, its probably a hardware issue.
My wife and i got our GNex phones at the same time in April through the Amazon wireless store. Both of our phones had to be repalced by amazon within the 30 day window for 4g/3g/1x signal drop issue. 4g radio would just totally crap out, then would wipe out the 3g and then i would have a complete signal loss. Everything was fine after we got the replacement phones. My wifes phone is totally stock and has had zero issues. Mine is rooted running AOKP toro IMM761, Android 4.04. 4 days ago it started having the rampant 4g signal crash issue again. I've turned off the 4g radio for now, but according to NoSignalAlert, with just the 3g radio on i've had complete signal loss 7 times today. I'm in the same area as usual, my house and my office where i normally have 2+ bars of 4g. I'm thinking the radio has gone bad in this phone, like it did in both of our previous GNex phones, it just took this one 6 months to die. Now i have to deal with Verizon Wireless to get a replacement. They are wanting to make sure i'm on the most current build, baseband etc. Here are my questions.
1 - What is the most current stock ROM, radio, build etc. that i an put back on my phone to both a)make sure that a rooted app/baseband etc. is not all of a sudden causing this issue and b) i can talk to VZW and they won't know i've rooted the phone.
2 - Once i return the phone to a stock ROM, i assume that I will have to do an OTA to satisfy the VZW tech. If the phone does not need to be replaced, i.e. the OTA fixes it, will i still be able to root back to an AOKP ROM?
3 - Is there some other update i should try before going the "unrooted" route and trying to talk with Verizon?
Thanks for your help.
Chris

Here are the VZW radios for the Gnex. Personally I would try flashing the new one [4.1.1 (JRO03O)] with a JB ROM. I was on AOKP for pretty much the entire life of my Gnex, 8 months, and never tried CM10. Flashed CM and besides the Nav bar, which I like better in AOKP, I have seen substantial improvements in performance, stability, and even better battery life. If you are determined to stay with AOKP I would still update to the JB version and try those "new" radios.
I started having the same problem a couple days ago when flashing a ROM went bad so I had to restore to an old (4+ mo. old) backup. From there I flashed factoryrom jb and then flashed the new radios today Cuz I just noticed the lack of signal. Still no bars anywhere. Any other thoughts? Do you think flashing a CM would fix it? If so, why?

Well, your settings are good to go. Did you check the md5 sum of the radio file after you downloaded it? If you have root explorer hold down on the .zip file and choose properties to check the sum and make sure it matches.
hahaha i guess that's what I get for trying to download a radio on crappy mall WiFi... the MD5 was bad :-/ works good now! thanks!

Glad it was something simple like that to get you back up and running.:good::highfive:

Here are the VZW radios for the Gnex. Personally I would try flashing the new one [4.1.1 (JRO03O)] with a JB ROM. I was on AOKP for pretty much the entire life of my Gnex, 8 months, and never tried CM10. Flashed CM and besides the Nav bar, which I like better in AOKP, I have seen substantial improvements in performance, stability, and even better battery life. If you are determined to stay with AOKP I would still update to the JB version and try those "new" radios.

I d/l the 4.1.1 radio and flashed it in clockwork, and though the flash said it completed successfully, i don't see a way to check the radio version. I don't see 4.1.1 JR03O listed anywhere in the About Phone information...Where should i be looking?
Further, my prboblem seems to have further degaded ...With the 4g radio on, i get random total shut down of the phone, as opposed to simple radio crashes. Just goes to off with black screen. I'm up to try anything. I assume i can easily locate one of these JB ROM's in the dev section?

The baseband i think. Mine is I515.09 V.FF02 / I515.FG02.
I'm not all that knowledgable about the radios I just know my reception/data was poor on JB ROM with ICS radios. When I flashed the JB radio, my issues were fixed. I believe the ROM and radio versions should match, so if you flash JB radio I would flash JB ROM. All the info should be in the thread that is linked.

I am such an idiot, this whole time you've been talking about JB ROMs i assumed you meant some particular brand of ROM, like AOKP or Myn etc... It didn't dawn on me until i saw JB next to ICS that you meant Jelly Bean ROM.
Ok i'm running an AOKP Jelly Bean ROM with Android 4.1.2
baseband is the same as yours
Build is aokp_toro-userdebug 4.1.2 JZo54K
The radio problem seems to be resolved. Thanks for the point in the right direction!
oops, accidentally wiped my sd card when i was restoring back to factory... TOTAL back to factory hahaha.... which isn't so bad i guess... after a year it's about time I guess
I seem to lose signal when leaving wifi though, have to either airplane mode or reboot. Because I had my phone so long, I don't know if there was connection or dust issues, so I did the classic NES/SNES/Sega Gen trick, took the sim card out, blew in there and all that. Seems to still be going ok.
Fyi.. i a simple restart doesnt disconnect u from the towers.. u need to turn off, pull battery, pull sim, and wait for 10 20 sec. That will disconnect u fully..
