[Hack]Turn pages in Acrobat Reader faster - Windows Phone 7 Development and Hacking

This is a small hack for Acrobat Reader which allows you to skip around 30 pages in landscape mode and around 13 in portrait mode by pressing previous/next buttons.
Next button won`t make a last jump at the end of the document.Install the xap from the archive to use it(the hack is a modified original reader dll). You can also modify nextPage_Click and prevPage_Click methods in AdobeReader.il(ldc.r8 25.0 does all the magic here) to alter the jump distance, then build it with ilasm as a dll and make a new xap.

Can you give a link to the pdf you have problem with? Btw if i wont be able to fix the bug, you can still scroll pages using the screen, not the buttons, its not that painful for small docs(<30 pages), it only becomes an issue with real books in pdf format.

I would love to see reflow come to Adobe reader for wp7, I'm guessing we need to wait for Adobe to fix that.

[App] Mango Flashlight

For those of you running Mango and in need of an actual flashlight app, this should do the trick. It's quite buggy at the moment and will flake out if the lock screen comes up or some other situations but I'll try and fix those later if someone doesn't beat me to it.
The good news is, something like this should be able to get approved in the marketplace once Mango is widely available.
WOW Nice
That´s Mango
I hope you add in this toll a collection from "flashes".
But good work
Lg
ooo
Very nice! thanks for the share.
Ummmm... Rip-off?
This isn't new. Why does this look EERILY similar to Dave Amenta's Flashlight app?
http://www.daveamenta.com/2011-01/led-flashlight-for-windows-phone-7/
This was released in JANUARY. The apps look exactly the same except for the box is a tad smaller, the text in the box has changed (from the originial "Turn Off/On" to "Toggle Flash"), and the text at the upper left hand corner. Someone please tell me i'm wrong.

does this app access newly available MANGO APIs? Because Dave's didn't and won't run in MANGO unless you remove the interop services flag within the app.
So, OP, is this Dave's app with the interop flag removed or are have you created a new app accessing newly available MANGO APIs?

Thanks for this, will load it up once I get home tonight...!!
If you read the original post you will see that this uses mango api's and should even pass marketplace certification. Dave's app won't and doesn't work on mango.
Of course the app is going to look similar. It's just one big button!

Will be good if someone can rewrite this app using HTC Flashlight graphics and functionality.
P.S. If you don't know how to extract resources from HTC's xap, I'll send you instructions or archive, just PM 2 me.
Works great on my samsung focus! thanks again!
Works in Mango
@Ren13b, Dave's flashlight app works perfectly fine with Mango. I use it all the time.

HTC flashlight app is using HTC's native code library (IOCTL calls, I believe so). It directly communicates with LED controller (via driver of course).

Hi,
The app does not work under my HD7 Mango 7714.
When I click the toggle flash button, nothing happens.
But if I'm getting real close to the phone, I can hear the camera doing something... a noise of focus I think.

Hate trying to read PDFs on your WP7??!!
Me too!
So after a long day of reformatting PDFs, attempts at reading already uploaded PDFs from GDOCs (mobile site and app,) I was nearly ready to give up and chalk up this experience to a wasted day... Then voila! I noticed the amazingly convenient (yet painfully under-stocked) app "media console" by Overdrive which I have used to read library books; has a great option to add your own sites where you can access EPUBs (electronic publications.)
I then discovered www.2epub.com where I could upload (or insert links) to my PDFs and convert them to EPUBs. Using some lovely JavaScripty upload and conversion, I was then able to copy my newly converted EPUBs download links to media console.
Presto change-o I can now read my PDFs (now EPUBs) from the convenience of my windows phone, nicely formatted and easy to read.
I hope this helps

I use Calibre for converting important PDFs to ePub and then upload those files to dropbox, from where I can pull it via Freda, an eBook reader that supports several formats.
Good to know, can you do all that from the phone? I am unfamiliar with Calibre and Freda.
Sent from my T7575 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
For the Calibre solution that dkp mentions, you have to run Calibre on a desktop PC.
But I just checked out the www.2epub.com site, with Freda. And I can confirm that works too. The steps are:
1) Create a new 'website source' for www.2epub.com
2) Navigate to it, tap the 'URL' button and enter the URL you want to convert, and then follow the instructions ... the site's javascript runs quite slowly on WP7 but it gets there.
3) When the 2epub site displays the EPUB download link, tap on it.
4) The EPUB will open in Freda.
A neat site - thanks for pointing it out.
sounds neat, however I still do not understand how it seems impossible to get a good PDF reader on WP7 -.-
My problem with all the converters, besides extra work, is that they mostly cannot handle PDFs with lots of pictures/graphs/diagramm.... Sad but true =(

I have checked and where media console by overdrive has a better layout IMO and is easier to work with; Freda does allow you to press and hold onto images to view them in a picture viewer mode, I will have to look at a chart to see what happens in those instances.

The version of Freda that's on the marketplace at the moment has an issue with GIF files (so you may find some charts don't work, as they are often stored in GIF format). The next release of Freda, now in public beta test, will fix this issue.

A Firefox plugin causes this site to refresh every second

I'm using Firefox v15.0.1 to view this site, but it started to automatically refresh itself every second. I disabled all addons, then the site worked fine. Can anyone tell me what may be causing this? These are what I have:
Extensions:
Adblock Plus
DownloadHelper
IE Tab 2
NoScript (all scripts allowed on this site)
Personas
Show Picture
YouTube Auto Replay
Plugins:
IE Tab Plug-in
Java Deployment Toolkit
Java(TM) Platform SE 7 U7
NPCIG.dll
NVIDIA 3D Vision
NVIDIA 3D VISION
QuickTime Plug-in
Shockwave Flash
VLC Web Plugin
Maybe the ad blocker but I doubt it. The rest, I don't think would do anything.

Problem may be ABP+NoScript.
I'd take a stab at it being noscript, as the site does depend on javascript to operate (particularly in the new theme)
Perhaps try XDA classic or 2010 if you need noscript?
(or take a look at the scripts, satisfy yourself, and enable them on the CDN domain and main site domain)?
fwiw, I had the same problem, both Classic and 2010 work fine on both Windows 7 and MacBookPro9,2 10.7.4 with FF 14.0.1.

Minus plugins and I think certain/all macros. Maths functions are still there though.
You can access all cell as on Excel can. But the CPU of Windows RT not powerful as normal Windows CPU. It maybe slower with the large data.
Also only 2GB of RAM, so yeah, realllllly huge spreadsheets would be slow. But any XLSX you can create or open on the desktop should work fine on the tablet. I'm guessing XLSM would open too; you just wouldn't be able to execute the macros.
You should be able to have as many rows and columns as on any 32 bit computer. How many that is I don't know.

How is Hancom Office compared with Office Suite 7 Pro

Hello, how is Hancom Office compared with Office Suite 7 Pro? Is Handcom better in all aspects?

Totally agree HANCOM is as close to Microsoft Office as it gets. IT IS GREAT!
i purchased the 7 pro probably like over a year. but now when i bought the pro 12.2 i didnt bother to install it because the HANCOM is freaking awesome! this is the reason why i returned the surface pro 2!
Hancom is better. Comparing it directly with Microsoft Office 2013 on a Touch screen laptop. This one is better.

Evernote is so much better then one note. I used Onenote first and did a lot of stuff and thought this was great, but the first issue was I couldn't sync my one note without using extra software (2 years ago), but then found Evernote and it does everything for free AND with the 12.2 it gives 1 year subscript to premium service. You can share evernote notebooks with different people ect.

Provided you don't need advanced editing features then yes.
As much as I think Hancom Word is one of the best of its class on Android a full replacement of Microsoft it isn't. One feature that may be critical for those in the market for a "Pro" product is track changes support. I may be wrong, but I can't find it. There's commenting but no track changes options. A simple test that I did was create a document in Word 2007 and saved it into my Dropbox with track changes turned ON. I then loaded that file with Hancom Word, edited and saved it, at which point the file was immediately updated in dropbox. At no time did Hancom Word give any indication of track changes being on, and upon opening the file back up on my workstation the edits were visible with no trace of the changes being tracked. To verify I deleted the edits that were made on the tablet from within Word 2007 on my workstation and immediately the changes were flagged as deleted. Back on the tablet, the markups were invisible BUT the space within which the deleted text should have been was still there (i.e. if I deleted 3 hard lines between two paragraphs there would still be 3 carriage returns visible between those paragraphs in Hancom Word but not visilble in word with review display options set to final).
Lack of track changes is not a deal breaker for me since when I travel I carry my laptop and my tablet and when I'm without my laptop its because I do not intend to do serious editing, but I could see it being an issue for those looking to replace a laptop.
To me if you must have full office compatibility get a surface pro and use office on it. This comes in second, and how close it comes is subjective based upon needs. Unfortunately there's very little information on Hancom's site to sell the product to users on its features so it's difficult for people to decide prior to purchase.
I work for Samsung and during my training on the new software they told me that Hancom office has approximately 60% of all the features of MS Office. It does not however have some of the programming features that some people may need, I have found out the hard way as a student needed these features and I was unable to help him out. Most people will use about 40% of MS office, so this over exceeds what the majority of people need from the software.

Spell Checker
The spell checker is a bit hit and miss, if you use a word with an apostrophe in it it won't count the whole word together, ie it doesn't count the t in "didn't" so it thinks you spelt it wrong.
The major glaring omission is the lack of a word count feature! I contacted Hancom about this and they said they would consider adding it
Other than that though it really is great, far better than anything else I've tried.
I know from my experiance (cause of my language is RTL) that is polaris work perfect.
I have bought the note pro also to use excel for work so really wonder what would be the best ☺
Edit:
Just checked it and it works perfect !!!

As a writer/journalist, I think hancom word is great, and does all I need it to do. I do most of my writing on word for the mac on my desktop mac. But now I'm using the np and Hword more than I did with my macbook air that I sold when I decided to buy the np12. I'm hoping Hword becomes available for my note 10.1 2014. I use a bluetooth keyboard and bluetooth mouse when using hword. Btw, there is an app called big cursor. Makes work in hword much easier because the stock cursor disappears.

Link? I didn't find anything by this exact name in the play store, and "big mouse" seems to not work on JB+
It is called big mouse. I went searching for a big cursor to use with hancom word -- tere are many in ios -- and big mouse was the only one that fit the bill. It works with my stock np12 in hancom word with my bluetooth mouse attached and is far better than the stock cursor. However, the settings for the app don't work, don't even show up anywhere. The settings should allow the cursor to be bigger and black. I emailed the developer to find out what the problem is. Still, it's way better than the almost invisible stock cursor.
