I have an sdcard icon with a ! in my notification bar that says Mounted ReadOnly...The sdcard has an unexpected problem. I cant access my sdcard. Ive reboot. Cleared caches. Same thing happens. I put the sdcard into my laptop and its got issues everywhere. Some files are renamed weirdly. Some files say they are missing. Im sure reformatting might fix the problem but if I can fix this without doing so thatd be great. Could this be the work of a virus? Please help.

when you put it into your computer if you right click it should give you an option to check flash, or you can also hit properties, tool and check for errors, but your if you just bought your sd card it might be a bad card
just had the samething happen last night. i just moved all my files to a folder on my pc and reforrmatted the sd and then moved them back and repartitioned. i know its what you are trying to avoid, but i figured rather than wasting time i would just start over.
I got the same message a few times normally after flashing a new rom or nandroiding back to a previous backup but I have been just clearing the notification and unmount and remount the sd card

I didn't think it was that simple. doubt that'd do it. You can only mount the system rw, not the SD card

Lol i figured that much because i tried all options possible and didnt see that option for the sd. What does mounting sdcard in recovery allow me to do? I have armon recovery.

-steps into the fray-
It allows you to place files on the sdcard, while in recovery. In case you were like... "Oh I forgot to put _____ file on" then you don't have to remove the battery or boot into the rom, then mount, you can do it straight from recovery, unmount, then flash. I use it frequently.
Ok but it wont allow me to do anything to fix my problem correct?

Not really.
What I would recommend you do is copy the contents of the sdcard onto your pc, then format the sdcard in fat32 partition, copy the files back to it, then try to mount it.

+1. Format that thing, then try again. If you don't have a card reader to put the card in your computer to format it, perhaps try formatting from the computer while it's mounted in recovery...?
Well first im gonna try to do the check for errors, and if it doesnt work then i guess ill have to reformat

Yea, if you can get it seen in windows, do the scan and repair bad sectors and hope that works, otherwise, you'll have to reformat.

Ok, I'm having some serious effin' problems. I was running MIUI 1.1.28 and earlier I was having issues with device not syncing, but got that taken care of with a full wipe and fresh install. Then, after that my Google accounts wouldn't sync...WTF! I just ended up saying "F*ck it" and booted into recovery so I could restore my MIUI 1.14 backup. I used Calkulin's format all zip first ...
Now....my Evo is f*cking bricked! All system data has been wiped (no ROM installed) so I'm stuck in Bootloader or recovery and Nandroid backup refuses to restore anything. I keep getting "Error: run 'nandroid-mobile.sh restore' via adb!"
I tried:
Code:
adb shell
mount /sdcard
cd /sdcard
cd nandroid
ls
cd HT**********
ls
cd BCD***-********-****
nandroid-mobile.sh restore
...but my Evo has less than 30% power.
HELP!!!

I tried putting a ROM on SD card, then flashing, but recovery isn't reading it for some reason.....maybe I'll try re-mounting SDCard via recovery and see if that works...
Charge your battery for a couple of hours and try again.

I had this happen once to fix it I mounted to my pc copied everything over to a folder then un-mounted and reformatted the sd card then copied everything back and then all was good.
Ok, I did finally get my device to charge and I restored backup via adb shell. I think my recovery image must have become corrupted somehow. Weird...

Just so you know if you are flashing a rom and you get this that it usually means wrong file system. Like your on ext4 trying to flash a rfs only rom.

Everytime I open the camera app it just repeats insert an sdcard and nothing happens when I do also when I go to storage in settings it force closes.
Im running aokp with cwm6 b3 version
More info please.
Do you have an external SD card as well?
Do you get this problem when running the stock ROM or other TW-based ROMs?
It may just be that the directories are messed up or you have a bad flash. Your Android system probably has the internal sd card as /emmc , and most apps need it to be /sdcard for it to be recognized. You can switch it in the storage settings, but since yours FC's, I'm assuming you have a bad flash.

I would try running fix permissions first to see if that helps it. If not I'd re download the rom, wipe and re flash. That should take care of it.

it can't mount the SD card? have him pull everything off the sd caerd on the computer and reformat it as FAT32 file partition or once everything is backed up put it in the phone and let the phone reformat it. then put all the pictures/files back on the sdcard.
Fix Permissions: Reboot into recovery, under advanced fix permissions.
OK so i partitioned my 32 gig sandisk sd card to about 1.2 gigs of space for the A2SD now im wondering im about to flash the new update of Decks reloaded i know this is a dumb question i should already know but im new to the whole A2SD thing, so i was wondering after i have already partitioned for decks reloaded .44 can i just leave my SD card alone and run the A2SD in Aroma for the new update with .500 with no worries of having to mess with the SD cards partition or do i need to run the format all zip file and re partition?
Reloaded. 500 doesn't use aroma to install anything its a basic rom flash, sooo you will have to find dta2sd and flash that after the rom and gapps. I believe in the second or third post of the rom thread is a link to the respective a2sd you would flash. But to answer your question you do not have to repartition, and furthermore if you would like to not download all of your applications, then in smelkus mod recovery do superwipe, wipe all temp. Files. Then flash rom gapps and dta2sd, and I would recommend Masons g .15 rc4 kernel as well. Hope that helps you out brotha

Well i dont really have a problem with the apps reinstalling them from Titanium backup is that what you ment by or just having to download from market dont bother me a bit but thanks for the reply dude and i usually use hipkatts wipe method tends to work very nice i have the most updated version of the semleksmod recovery. But if your saying i can just do a super wipe and not wipe all the apps i have installed that would be kewl i guess save me some time haha

Try updating your HTC Sync Drivers. Also try a different USB cable. I've had issues like this with knock-off USB cables.

Just open HTC Sync, and Update it. Also definitely switch to the HTC USB Cable.

I don't know if my SDC card is partitioned right or not. I have just made a NAND backup, and was going to format my SDC with smelkusMOD to Swap 32mb Ext4 768mb. Now my question is this, once I format, and reinstall my back up, will my partitions change? What will happen? If nothing happens to the partition, and I decide that I need to extend the ext4 partition, can I?

Do you mean you want to Partition your card to have an A2SD Ext. Partition ? If so I would just make an Ext.4 partition from the jump. Also I would suggest making the Partition slightly larger than you think you'll ever need it. That way the likely hood of having to ever do it again is reduced. Unless you change SD Cards. As for your backup, it will be exactly as it was when you made it. If there was no SD ext Partition when you made it, it will not show up. The SD Card will still be Partitioned, it will just not be activated on the Rom.
thanks for all the info

Hi, anyone know if theres an easy way to have the partition back to just Sdcard. Went from cm 10.1 back to touchwiz and of course all my directories are off now. Should I manually do move everything to SDcard? What have you guys done if you've run into this problem? I'm sure I'm going to switch to android 4.2 again sometime in the future so I don't want to continually be moving files. Anyone switch back and forth from 4.2 to 4.1 and can you tell me what you guys do to address the issue? Thanks.
Will wiping internal storage fix it?
No it's set up that way for the different profiles 4.2 allows. Each profile will get a different number.
It's always going to be that way unless they remove user profiles
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah I know theyre for 4.2 but I'm back on 4.1 stock touchwiz and want the folder structure to revert back. Do you know how to make that happen?
I am not familiar with the 4.2 partitions, so forgive me if this known, but when you say SD card, do you mean internal, or external? If it's your external, you could just back up all the files you want to your computer, format the SD card, and put the files back on. I think you can do this with the internal storage as well from a custom recovery. That should remove any partitions created by 4.2. It will obviously wipe all your data, so make sure back it up before doing this.

if you have TWRP as your recovery then you won't have to deal with /0/0/0 crap, /0 is only present in cwm for 4.2

You can flash the twrp zip from inside cwm i believe but gotta put the twrp zip file for your device inside ur sd card and then flash or you can use rom manager to flash the twrp for your device but be careful and read up.
