Ok, I'm having some serious effin' problems. I was running MIUI 1.1.28 and earlier I was having issues with device not syncing, but got that taken care of with a full wipe and fresh install. Then, after that my Google accounts wouldn't sync...WTF! I just ended up saying "F*ck it" and booted into recovery so I could restore my MIUI 1.14 backup. I used Calkulin's format all zip first ...
Now....my Evo is f*cking bricked! All system data has been wiped (no ROM installed) so I'm stuck in Bootloader or recovery and Nandroid backup refuses to restore anything. I keep getting "Error: run 'nandroid-mobile.sh restore' via adb!"
I tried:
Code:
adb shell
mount /sdcard
cd /sdcard
cd nandroid
ls
cd HT**********
ls
cd BCD***-********-****
nandroid-mobile.sh restore
...but my Evo has less than 30% power.
HELP!!!
Have you tried flashing a different rom?

I tried putting a ROM on SD card, then flashing, but recovery isn't reading it for some reason.....maybe I'll try re-mounting SDCard via recovery and see if that works...
Charge your battery for a couple of hours and try again.

I would recharge for a while then take your SD card out then put it back in. Had to do that to mine one time when I couldn't get it to mount in recovery.

I had this happen once to fix it I mounted to my pc copied everything over to a folder then un-mounted and reformatted the sd card then copied everything back and then all was good.
Ok, I did finally get my device to charge and I restored backup via adb shell. I think my recovery image must have become corrupted somehow. Weird...
Thanks again EndlessDissent.

Upgrading to newest amon_ra recovery worked for me.

i am on the most recent amon ra already, havent renamed any of them, and i have plenty of room on my sdcard any other ways to fix this?

It took me days and days researching this...lol. I found three possible issues...the first, and most common, is renaming your backups. Apparently that screws it all up, so don't rename them. Second, your battery is too low...it has to be at least 40%. I never renamed and I was fully charged - but still got the error, and when I tried to restore via adb I got an sd card error. In MY case, I had gotten a new 16gb sdcard and it wasn't formatted or partitioned properly...I had to copy everything off if it onto a folder on my PC, format it (FAT32) via PC, put it back into the Evo, reboot into Amon Ra recovery via Rom Manager, select "partition sd card" - let that work- then select SD:ext2 to ext3...wait till that was done, reboot. Then I mounted as disk drive to the PC, copied everything back to the sd card, and viola...it finally worked. I don't know why it did it, I had 2 of the exact sd cards...brand, class, etc. Hopefully that works for you!
ahhhh the battery explain it hahaha

Lol...good! Cause that whole formatting thing sucked.
Well, last night, after doing a complete wipe, INCLUDING the /system partition, my sd card would not eject properly. (Using Lion OSX 10.7.1)
So, I manually ejected it; when I tried to reboot the phone, it wouldn't boot.
To make a long story short, basically, in CWM, when I tried to flash anything, or recover my backup, I keep getting the "E": SD Card not recognized, won't mount" error, no matter what I do.
I tried to format my card, I tried a different card, but no matter what, my phone won't recognize my sd card. Also, it used to give me the option of flashing from my "internal" sd card, but that option does NOT show up in the CWM menu anymore, Probably because I formatted my system partition..
I had formatted the system partition a few times before, when I had fc's after trying a different theme or rom, but, I was always able to get back into recovery, and flash something that fixed it.
Is there anything else I can do at this point? My phone isn't "seen" by my computer anymore, so I can't get anything on to it directly, and it won't recognize my sd card, no matter what I do..
Thanks for any help or ideas you can offer

Thanks, but all that does is root the phone and install a rooted kernel..not a rom which is what is needed to boot the phone, and its already rooted
looks like its time to get a PC..
I just had the same SD error in CWM, ODIN'd a fresh CWM 5023 and back to working again! I was worried it was going to be a serious issue (had similar problems with a Vibrant that rubbed me the wrong way) But it was an easy fix
fortunately, the good folks at Best Buy had no problem swapping my phone for me..
Thanks for your suggestions, and be careful when you wipe your /system partition!

Not true. Heimdall does the samething as odin does. I use heimdall instead of odin most of he time. Its better.

Interesting; do you need the GUI front end, or do you do everything through command line?
Fortunately, I got a new phone from Best buy today, so my immediate issue is fixed; I was just wondering about using it sort of like ADB to push stuff through via a mac..
Hi guys , its me again ... well i have a big problem.I recently owned a Kindle fire ,but i gave it to my brother who went away for a while . He came back with the divice telling me that the hard drive had crashed. I thought it was not a big problem so i tried to fix it. I turned it on and saw the blue kindle fire letters (because it's rooted) and then afterwards it said boot and then the screen would just go blank. I thought it was a bit strange so i went into recovery and everything was gone so i thought that maybe he had wiped everything from the SD card , system , cashe and dalvik cache except TWRP , so i mounted the device to my computer , copied the jandycane ROM for jellybean 4.1.1 for KF and the gapps onto the kindle fire , i then unmounted and tried to flash it but it would give me an error. My brother claims he didn't make it fall or anything and he is studying medicine so he really needs it because he doesn't want to carry his laptop around. Please help me , both me and my brother are in great need.
Thanks in advance.
The kf like most tablets/phones does not have a hard drive, it uses flash drive memory like sd cards. I seriously doubt that it could have gone bad, however it could be an issue with the partitioning of the drive. What exactly are the errors you get when trying to flash a Rom?

Maybe your file transfer hiccupped. You could wipe the device and push it again then retry your flash.

I can't wipe it becuase TWRP in on my SD
Wipe system, factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache then transfer the .zip ball over and flash it again just to make sure. You won't lose folks stored on the sd as long as you don't wipe sd which you don't need to do.

You obviously have recovery installed, and I'm pretty sure it isn't installed to the sdcard partition.

TWRP is on my SD card i see it when i usb mount my sd card to my pc. Also even after wiping everything except Sd card it still wont flash the zip
Is the TWRP on your sdcard a TWRP folder or is the TWRP you are speaking of the recovery.img?
Also, what version of TWRP are you running?
Make sure zip file verification and md5 check are disabled when you flash it. If you still have issues place another rom.zip and gapps.zip on your sdcard then flash it.

Okay, that's just the backups/themes folder. TWRP is actually installed to it's own partition, separate from the sdcard. Not that it matters because your problem seems to be that you're using TWRP 2.3 rather than 2.2
Not to say that's the only problem you're having, but it's a good place to start.
Well i think i updated to TWRP 2.3 but i need to check so im not sure :\
its sticking at the TWRP screen x_x any help on this?

Okay i'm i (after alot of freezing) it's version 2.2.2.1 not 2.3, sorry
What other ROMs have you tried to install.
So Jelly Bean 4.2 came out and I was curious so in class today I downloaded http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737849
correct me if I'm wrong but that's the correct ROM I should download for the GSM/HSPDA Gnex. Anyways it successfully downloads and I attempt to flash it and when I did it got stuck on the Google screen. So what I did is battery reset and flash my original JB rom I still had on the memory and re-downloaded JB 4.2 thinking it might have been a corrupted download. This time around it actually gets to booting but it bugs up on the lock screen and is on a boot loop. So what I did now is completely cleared everything from CWM, the cache, partition, dalvik, and I even formatted everything as well. Not knowing what I was doing I guess the formatting formatted my SD card so it cleared everything. I said OK, CWM has a USB mounting system I'll just hook up to my PC and put in a rom and flash it. But the problem is it's not detecting my phone, I press mount SD Card and nothing shows up on my computer. I'm confident I have the drivers installed, what else could be the problem?
tl;dr CWM mounting doesn't work with PC and I can't boot into my ROM.

man is simple to repair it !go in fastboot mode connect to your pc and open gnex toolkit reflash 4.1.2 and thats all
Ouch... You have two choices. You can Adb push xxx /sdcard or fastboot the device... I dont think mounting works in CWR on the Gnex

This is exactly right. Mounting does not give you usb mounting but makes the partition accessible from adb.

Or learn some adb and format in recovery. I hate to see a phone given up on due to an issue reading a sdcard.
Also android has a format option in the storage menu. Have you tried that?

i booted to cwm, couldn't format because the phone doesn't recognize it.
tired it from cm10.1 storage, no luck so idk anymore.
Try this:
1. Reboot into recovery.
2. Connect phone to PC (must have working adb)
3. Start->Run->cmd
4. Type adb shell where you normally would run adb.
5. mkdosfs -F 32 /dev/block/mmcblk1p1
Or simpler, did you try wiping external storage (in TWRP recovery) or a similar sdcard wipe in CWM?
