Hi i purchased a unlock code for my HTC Wildfire at the beginning of the year and i cant find email with code in.
i am now giving the phone away and want to hard reset using this method:
Turn the power off. If your HTC Wildfire is frozen, pull the battery out and reinsert it
Hold the Volume Down button
Press and release the Power button
You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock
Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button
Press and release the Power button
Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO
If i do this will it become locked again.
i have a wildfire running froyo and was originally locked on tesco mobile
Sim lock should be permanent.
So it should not change.
Thank you just to confirm I did hard reset my wildfire and it was still unlocked cheers
I live at Brazil.
My father went to USA and bought me a Wildfire UNLOCKED at J&R (i have the receipt).
He is not used to mobiles, so he turned the phone on and said: "it´s working".
When a took the phone i realised that it is locked. I believe by "Three", since it's logo shows up when turning on.
J&R refuse to replace the phone.
How could i get it unlocked? At Three site said i could buy the code. But i don´t have a Three phone to call them.
Do somebody knows how much does it cost? Is there any other way to buy, not calling them?
And most important: does the phone got permanently locked if i enter a wrong unlock code? I had tried some codes from my sim card (i thought it was what the phone was asking for).

I purchased sim unlocking softare on ebay before I discovered the XDA Devlopers forum.
I have a Siemens S66, PH20B. After running the ulock software, my phone was unlocked for use with my carrier. However, whenever I leave the phone on and the device is off, I can only get a dark-grey blank screen when I press the power button, and cannot answer my phone when it rings. I have to press reset to get an active screen. Additionally, it the screen fades to black a number of times after I press the reset button.
I'd like to return the phone to its original setting, eliminating the unlock software. Is this possible.
Thanks!
The obvious answer is: uninstall the software but I guess you already tried it.
Who is your carrier? You may find the latest official rom update and get it fresh as new.
Hi, i wondered if someone here can help me with my htc desire, i purchased it like this by the way. When i insert the battery and power the device it goes straight into bootloader mode but im unable to select the options using the volume button, is there a way to exit this mode? or is it possible i can use the volume keys of the handsfree headset (i dont have) in case the phones volume buttons are faulty?

Your input would be highly appreciated, thanks!
Have you removed battery and try booting up again?

hi, yes i have, as soon as i put the battery in and press power it automatically goes into bootloader mode without even holding the back key, which is puzzling..
Did you buy it from a shop? Take it back if so. Is there any movement in the volume buttons or ate they stuck down?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
It could be that it has water damage and that is causing the volume down to be pressed by itself all the time..
i compared the volume buttons with a working desire and they feel exactly the same
Is this a new phone?
If so - return it.
This happened to my phone too, which was bought new. Looking around it does appear to be a hardware problem and needs to be sent back for repair/replacement.
hi every one,I have one brand new g2 Tmobile, just got from ebay, when i insert unlock code it say that unlock code success, please reboot, after reboot it require unlock code again,i tried 3 times but the same thing, any one can help me??thanks
Don't use an unlock code, they've caused a lot of problems.
Instead, if you root your phone and then use this guide you can get SIM unlock for free - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855764
Hello, I just bought the HTC desire Z and have put the draw pattern lock code on, and have forgotten the pattern. I have had it just 4 days so any lost data is not a big deal. I have tryed the volume down power button hardset way. but it always just sarts the phone and brings me back to the draw pattern lock. If anybody has had to hard reset their phone, any ifno would help. Otherwise my phone is going away for 4-6 weeks.

what happens when you goto forgot pattern?
I can't get into anything. The phone starts up and then you can slide down on the screen then the 9 dots come up for the draw pattern. thats all i co do
try to enter your pattern 5 times, when the "wait 30 seconds" prompt comes up hit "ok", then there will be a "forgot pattern" button in the lower left
Hello,
I have my HTC One X with two months now, and i have a problem where it takes me a lot of attempts pressing the power button to unlock the phone. Something ive noticed, is that the less battery is in the phone, the more attempts it takes to unlock the phone.
Does anyone have any idea whether this could be a software, or a Hardware issue?
I've taken that it could be a software issue, and im rooting the phone as we speak, but to unlock the bootloader i need to press the power button to confirm, and its not registering me pressing it so im stuck on that step. I can turn off the phone if i hold it down, but i want to root it to see if it is a software issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim
It might be a hardware issue.
You should not unlock the bootloader..
Just to avoid any issues at the service center.

I need help on this and unfortunately, being my dad's phone, I don't physically have it with me. Basically, it won't read his SIM so it's in emergency mode only, and then on top of that it's locked him out. He doesn't want to hard reset because he has some photos on the phone itself that he would lose and the PC won't recognise the phone (no clue what that's about). He got another SIM card and that didn't help.
Does anyone have some things I can try to resolve at least the lock issue?
Thanks!
What has him locked out? Is he locked out because of entering an incorrect PIN too many times? Is he locked out because of FRP, or Factory Reset Protection?
When it comes to losing photos if your dad uses Google photos and backup is turned on he won't be at a loss. He can open Google Photos on his PC and see if all of his photos are there.
If your Dad's PC will not recognize his device have him try a different USB Type-C cable.
Also, have your Dad boot into the bootloader and connect a USB cable and see if his PC recognizes his device. He can reach the bootloader by power the device off, pressing and holding the Volume Up button and the Power button at the same time.
I suggest booting to recovery and wiping the caches. Power off the device. Press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power button at the same time. Continue holding until you see the display light up.
Next, use the Volume Keys to scroll up or down to highlight the one that says Wipe Cache and use the Power button to select this option. Once the caches have been wiped select reboot system.

Ok, I had him look into the Google Photos sync and turns out he had unknowingly been syncing all along. I'm telling you, my dad isn't that old, but he is incredibly disorganised when it comes to tech and digital content, and the mobile world with online ecosystem logins is where he really lost track of things. Getting him to understand "Google", the "Outlook" account world, why you don't need a separate Skype account PER device... anyway...
So he says he never had his phone with any kind of lock screen lock. None whatsoever. He knows his inability to remember passwords and didn't want that hassle on his phone. So this is a lock he's never set up or asked for. So what is it, do you think? And since he didn't set it up would the stock code be available somewhere?
