My Desire HD got a problem with the casing, the battery-lit will not fit properly. I need to send it back to HTC for repair but my device is rooted. Customer support have told me I have to pay for this repair because rooted devices don't have warranty. I have rooted my device myself but forgot what method I used, here some info from bootloader:

1. How can I fully revert to stock without leaving any traces?
2. I have flashed another radio, will flashing a RUU rom change this back to stock?
3.Does a RUU rom change ENG S-OFF to ENG S-ON?
Thanks for your help!
1. I personally would use any one of the methods mentioned in any one of the MANY MANY threads already about this matter in the dev section. See my link in signature.
2. A stock RUU ahould do yes but don't hold me to that.
3. Unsure but see #1.
Did try a search, but no results on ENG S-OFF or ENG S-ON. Your link doesn't explain anything. So please help and post some relevant links to these so called MANY MANY threads.
Ok, I did a search for "Revert to stock" and the following thread came up:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855403&highlight=Revert+stock
Talks about ENG S-OFF and reverting to stock.

Hello everyone, I just got my DHD 2 days ago, and I already want to flash a new ROM on it (Revolution). I have rooted my phone via the wiki article, using gfree_02.
However, I am not sure about ENG S-OFF. I have rooted my phone using "./gfree -f", which means superCID, simlock off, RADIO S-OFF.
So I am guessing I only achieved RADIO S-OFF (besides permaroot, superCID and simlock). But prior to rooting the gfree way, I've noticed in the wiki that it suggested Visionary to be uninstalled. I've never installed it so it was no problem.
But now, in order to flash mike's Revolution, I need to have ENG S-OFF aswell (for flashing a better radio). I do not know if I achieved ENG S-OFF using only the gfree method (did I?). The only method I've seen is via ONE CLICK ENG S-OFF, via Visionary. I'd like to know a few things before I proceed.
Does installing Visionary on the phone, and turning ENG S-OFF via that method, cause any conflicts with gfree's permaroot? (seeing as the wiki suggest to not have Visionary installed) Does it have anything to do with the method I've used to permaroot?
And also, I would like to know what ENGINEERING HBOOT does, is it a second method to achieve ENG S-OFF? and if it's recommended over the Visionary way, considering I've achieved permaroot and RADIO S-OFF via gfree.
In case it is needed, my Build number is
Code:
1.32.405.6 CL278359
and Radio version is
Code:
12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M
Thanks in advance!
boot into bootloader, (turn your device off, when off hold the volume down key and press power) at the top of the hboot screen it will either say "ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF" that is radio s-off. if it says "ACE PVT ENG S-OFF" thats eng s-off, if you only have radio s-off, you need to install an older 1.32 based htc rom with a stock kernel before you can use the eng s-off tool
Thanks for the reply!
Yep, it appears it is saying "ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF". But why do I need to install an older 1.32 ROM, I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere (except if the ROM is 1.7x)
Here's a quote from the One Click ENG S-OFF thread

It is best to use STOCK ROM (lower than 1.7x)!

So I should qualify for using the tool, right? If not, could you tell me from where have you read that you must install an older 1.32 (I already have 1.32.405.6)
Yes, your build is compatible
Great, thanks for the replies!
I have ENG S-OFF, and will proceed to flash a new radio. Just to be on the safe side, should I do a backup via CWM? Does CWM also backup radios?
The backup does not include a radio, so it does not matter whether you do it or not. You can find all the radios here in XDA, so it is not a problem.
you can flash any radio you want.
you can find the recommended radio for Revolution Rom, in the Revolution post.
I'm using Android Revolution 2.0.11 with kkernel_v19cfs kernel (you can find it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=836259).

I need Help ASAP.
I have tried everything to get my EVo Un-Rooted.
I rooted using UnrEVOked, and Cyanogen 6.1.2
I also made a backup with NAND succesfully.

Everything is Great with it being rooted.
I need to unroot to retrun to Sprint.
I did the S-On with UnrEVOked SON - and my EVo says "supersonic EVt2-3 Ship S-On"
I have tried downloading the RUU's and running them, but get the error USB cable issue.
I have tried to rename the RUU's to the "PC36IMG.zip" and booting into the HBoot screen.
It sees it and attempts to load it. Then after a reboot nothing.
I have tried several PC36IMZG.zip file out there and i get the error... saying the file is older.
Do I need to install HCT Sync?
Before I posted I have read posts for the past 2 weeks. XDA, Cyanogen, AndroidForums, AndroidCentral, etc.
I read the rooting for dummies, and appartenly I need rooting for Retards.
So my question is...Can someone post a step by step for my scenario, and help me please?
A reminder, I do have the S-ON
What files do I need and in what order do I apply them. The megaupload files don't seem to work.
Or what RUU file do I need.
Do I need to install the HTC Sync?

Since you are already S-ON, all you need to do is run a RUU or flash the correct PC36IMG.zip. If you choose to run a RUU, make sure you install HTC Sync first. If you choose to use a PC36IMG.zip, make sure to remove it, and any other rooting related file from your SD card before bringing it in to Sprint.
Here is the most current RUU.
Here it is in PC36IMG.zip form. (You can't just rename a RUU.exe to PC36IMG.zip)
Which RUU do I need to run? I found about 7 different ones.
The one I linked you to, perhaps?
It seems all the files are linked t megaupload. Is there a different place to get them?
Im on my phone right now so those are the only links ive got for you right now. Whats wrong with megaupload? The files are good.

I have been attempting to turn my s on, have flashed the unrevoked s-on tool at least 18 times with no success. I have tried clockwork which comes up with an error, and I have tried amon(2.3) which says it works fine, but I cannot get s-on.
If I flash stock RUU would s go back on? Any suggestions to getting s-on after multiple of failed attempts?
Yes I have check that unrevoked son tool is compatible with my versions of my baseband.
How did u root in the first place? Radio? Hboot version? Need more info

I unrooted from the original unrevoked method(first day release) when I needed my speaker replaced, after which I rooted back using the 2.3.3 method with the needed the code special thing(had to go to some website to generate a code).

See the big words at the top that say "Revolutionary?" You're rooted with revolutionary. Not unrEVOked. Use the revolutionary unroot method and you'll be good to go.
Here > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1245649
Again, you need the revolutionary unroot tool, whichi in this case is the undo hex mod, which is in that thread.
Hello everyone.
I have a question regarding stock firmware for WW market.
As I am sending it back for a repair, I need to make it stock.
I had it s-off (radio too) and now I installed stock firmware via bootloader. It installed back the original bootloader, radio and everything..at least I hope.
I also updated the system to android 2.3.5 and sense 3.0.
Can you guys check it out and tell me if it looks like its completely stock?
My bootloader looks like this now:
ACE PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.00.0027
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.14.04.28_M
eMMC-boot
Sep 7 2011, 19:06:24
and so on..
What is that "RL" at the end of the first line? As far as I remember it wasn't there when my phone was new, eighter when I was rooted.
Thank you for your ansvers in advance.
Also, I am sorry if you have had it with those "Am I Stock" threads, but I happen not to find anything on XDA
Because most of us are trying hard to go away from stock
Go on HTCDev and follow the explanations. They may give tip to check if each step has succeded.
Or go in dev section and follow a thread to go S-OFF.
At each step they state "if you see this ok, if this not ok"
This may helps.
For m I think that if it's S-ON, it may be ok.
Try to install another ROM, if it refuse, it should be ok.
nb: in thread to root your device you have links to how going back to stock, check it.
Hello,
About a year ago, I rooted and S-OFF’ed my HTC Desire HD. I ran a lot of custom ROMs and was very excited about custom ROMs. About a week ago, my volume button came off. I wanted to return it to HTC, so I downloaded a RUU and installed it. I couldn’t get it to become S-ON again, so I decided to fix the volume button by myself (it’s completely working again, thanks to glue ).
Now I have the stock software version 2.50.405.2 with Android 2.3.3. My bootloader gives the following information:
Code:
ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-0.85.0024
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.09.04.11_M2
eMMC-boot

So, in a weird way it seems to be S-OFF, but I can’t flash a custom recovery. I’ve been trying to root my Desire HD for about 6 hours now, and I really can’t get it to do what I want it to do. I tried it with AMT ( forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1037315 ), and SuperOneClick. But everytime I try to use GingerBreak V1.20, it keeps hanging on the screen where it tells me to wait. I let it turned on and running for about an hour, but it doesn’t work. (Before the Desire HD can be downgraded , I have to root it first. As far as I know.)
This is what I think is happening: The bootloader has to be ENG S-OFF, instead of SHIP S-OFF. But to achieve that, I need to downgrade, and before I can downgrade, I need root acces.
Am I doing something wrong?
I searched everything, and I can’t find it. If I missed something, my apologies.
Can someone help me to restore ENG S-OFF (so that I can install a custom recovery and run custom ROMs), after being S-OFF and flashing a RUU?
Thank you very much in advance!
If I didn’t supply enough information, please tell me, and I’ll give it.
I'm getting pretty desperate, as everything I try fails. I hope someone in this awesome comunity can help me.
Kind regards, Tom.
You merely need to fastboot flash a recovery.img. Instructions are part of post #7 in the link in my signature.
Thanks for your reply!
I thought that I posted a reply a couple days ago, but it seems not to be placed. I might failed to press the "post" button.
It's fixed now, I flashed an ENG S-OFF HBOOT (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248608). Now, I can flash as much ROMs as my DHD can!
