I have been attempting to turn my s on, have flashed the unrevoked s-on tool at least 18 times with no success. I have tried clockwork which comes up with an error, and I have tried amon(2.3) which says it works fine, but I cannot get s-on.
If I flash stock RUU would s go back on? Any suggestions to getting s-on after multiple of failed attempts?
Yes I have check that unrevoked son tool is compatible with my versions of my baseband.
How did u root in the first place? Radio? Hboot version? Need more info

See the big words at the top that say "Revolutionary?" You're rooted with revolutionary. Not unrEVOked. Use the revolutionary unroot method and you'll be good to go.
Here > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1245649
Again, you need the revolutionary unroot tool, whichi in this case is the undo hex mod, which is in that thread.

I was following [GUIDE] How to root Android 2.2 on the EVO 4G. I did everything the guide told me to and when I did the reboot bootloader it the PC36IMG.zip and let me apply it after that point it continues to go into HBOOT and I have tried searching all over and I cannot seem to find a clear cut answer on how to fix it.

You may have flashed the wrong pc36img, try running the RUU from here . You won't have root at first but it will give you 3.29 which is easy to root.
Which root guide should I use for the version of RUU you recommend?

If the 3.29 RUU installs for you, Unrevoked 3.21 will most likely work to root.
unrevoked is one click, but then you have to learn how to stand while you are already on your feet. i reccomend doing it manually. maybe take one more shot, and if that fails, ruu and use unrevoked.
Will I be able to load a custom rom after or do i still need to do more?
Never mind I finally figured out why it would not work I had to do unrevoked twice before it finally worked. Thanks for your guys help.
I tried searching for this but to no avail.. if some one here has better searchfu than me just point me in the right direction but here is my problem.
Im using a 2.2 android HTC desire from O2 I was following the instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788044 here to Root it. I installed the Hboot drivers fine and got Unrevoked working as far as i can tell.
I launch it and it goes through the entire process of restarting my phone into Hboot and then restarting again and stabilising then It starts to root.. says sucess then quickly changes to say "Internal Error: failed to unlock NAND flash?"
It then stops there restarts the phone and has had no effect at all..
Any help will be wonderful

Try going into recovery mode and clear storage and then try unrevoked again
whats your radio version ? I recently did this on mine and it game me superuser but nand is still locked.

Are you trying to use Unrevoked forever? That only works on CDMA phones (no sim card). If you just want root and flash different roms normal Unrevoked is fine. To see if it went oke boot in to recovery and see if it says ClockworkMod recovery. If yes, everything is fine regarding rooting.
If after this you want to S-off and have a GSM (sim card) phone use AlphaRev.
Im using the version available from unrevoked.com which i belive is just unrevoked
As for booting into recovery i try that... all i get is the phone symbol with the red triangle and then dont get past that when i push power and vol up..

This man speaks the truth, unrEVOked forever won't work on the sim card Desire. I you should now have standard super user permissions. if you do want S-off you will need to go the alpha rev route.
tried using a diff version of unrevoked and this time it says failed to flash recovery image
I just went through all of this with my own phone a few days ago. from what I have learned and read Unrevoked will not give you Nand unlock.
Strange. I tried the latest unrEVOked (not forever) on my unbranded Desire, and did not have any errors like these (NAND unlock, unable to flash). I have:
Bravo PVT1 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.93.0001
except the radio is 5.11.05.27
Hmmm could it be the radio causing the play up?

Maybe.
But i should give it a try. Download the latest unrEVOked from here:
http://www.unrevoked.com/recovery/
Also make sure, you have correctly installed the HBOOT drivers:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788044
I do definitely have the latest version of both of those..
Hi folks, absolute novice here.
Apologies for replying to a very old thread, but I am having the same issue here with unrevoked - I simply cannot get my HTC Desire rooted.

You've searched too far back
Use the guides here to explain everything better: http://androidforums.com/desire-all-things-root/503471-desire-all-things-root-guide.html
Follow it all the way through particularly terminology etc. Everything you need to know is there
Then use the guide to 's-off' using revolutionary. It doesn't technically root but will fully unlock your bootloader which is more powerful.
Okay so I've got a bit of a problem. My EVO won't get past the "HTC Evo 4G" Screen when I turn it on. I figured I would just unroot it and re-root it to fix the problem, so I found a guide that said to flash the UnrEVOked Forever S-On tool and then flash PC36IMG to do that, so I flashed the unrevoked tool, I have S-On now, but the PC36IMG that I have won't flash, it just says "Can't open /sdcard/PC36IMG.zip (bad)" so I'm assuming I have the wrong one. I believe the one i have is
"PC36IMG_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.70.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed.zip"
which I thought was right because the radio number matches the one that is on my phone, but it won't work. I also tried the RUU with the same version, and that wouldn't work either.
My question is, is there some way I can get S-Off again through recovery and then just try flashing a different ROM to see if that fixes the problem? Or do I just have the wrong RUU/PC36IMG? Or am I SOL?
My Bootloader info is:
SUPERSONIC EVT2-3 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-2.10.0001
MICROP-041F
TOUCH PANEL-ATMEL224-16ab
RADIO-2.15.00.11.19
It was a ROM issue that prevented your phone from booting, not a root issue.
Re-root.

I'm still rooted, I just have s-on. Is there a way I can get s-off through the bootloader/recovery?

Yes - just flash unrEVOked forever.
P.S. The reason that PC36IMG wouldn't flash is because you don't flash it in recovery - it has to be renamed to PC36IMG.zip and flashed through the bootloader (HBOOT).
Hey everyone,
I need some quick guidance. I'll be moving over to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus within the next few days (when it arrives in the mail) and I need to get my Evo 4G back to stock and get the root off (as if I just purchased it from Sprint) because I'll be selling it back to Sprint for a little account credit.
This is currently what shows in my HBOOT:

Can anyone point me in the right direction of how to return it to 100% stock with no root access?
Thanks a lot!
Ricky
Your gunna have to downgrade your radio to 11.19, or earlier. Then you can use unrevoked forever, and use an ruu to downgrade back to froyo. You could just try using a 3.70 ruu, it may upgrade your hboot, and turn security on automatically.
Can you downgrade the radio just by flashing an earlier version?
Yes.. if using recovery to flash, remember it will reboot once during the install process after you select reboot now... Do not pull the battery, just wait... Or brick your phone will be.
Alright, I downgraded my radio to the 2.15.00.11.19 version and used Unrevoked S-ON and it looks like my radio and S-ON are exactly as they should be.
Where do I find the RUU executable to run on my PC to restore the phone now?

I have tried doing clear with hboot and I have also tried choosing recovery until it gets to a red triangle and exclamation point and then either pulling the battery and restarting or pressing the vol up and choosing reset. It is still stuck in a loop.
As I read through
I found a thread somewhere (which of course I can't find now) that I thought had the same bootloader version, etc as above. It suggested to download PC36IMG_supersonic_gb_sprint_wwe_4.67.651.3_radio_2.15.00.12.19_nv_2.33_release_234563_signed.zip, rename PC36IMG.zip, copy to root of SD card and boot with hboot. When I did this I got a message that the ROM I was trying to install was older than what was currently installed .
As I read further through this post I saw that my radio was newer. Someone else posted who was having this problem who had the same hboot information as I have. It was an older thread but at that time they did not have a stock ROM available to do a recovery. The suggestion was to see if the phone could be unlocked with the HTCDEV method.
I was able to successfully unlock it. The hboot info is now:
***UNLOCKED***

Since I can't find this thread I don't know what they suggested I do next.
Since it is now unlocked, can I install any stock ROM with hboot?
Ultimately I'd like to install a custom ROM, but, for now I need a stock ROM because I want to use it with FreedomPop and you need Sense to set the profile.
You need to flash a custom recovery now and then you can install a rom
