Go back from Gingerbread to Froyo - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just flash Froyo ROM over it or ? I am pretty sure that was a specific file from TMartin or even Virus but don't know where is it.

Just wipe and flash like you'd normally flash. There are no special steps required to revert back to froyo from gingerbread.

The special files you're asking about were simply zips that did the wiping for you. Just do the normal wipes and you'll be fine.

Thanks....

Recently added ginger ale 3.0 on my DROID x.not happy at all does anybody know how I get back to original factory. Or where I can get the file.also since the update usb has stopped working.

How to get back to stock rom

Hi 2 all!
I just flashed my device with android 2.2
But how can I get back to stock rom (RUU_Bravo_HTC_Europe_1.15.405.3_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_121865)?
The update program does not recognize my phone?
thanks
If you have flashed 2.2 then you have obviously rooted. It is just a matter of finding the rom you want. Put it on your SD card, and then use rom manager to flash it.
What exactly is not recognised?

...the htc rom update util does not recognice my handset...but I finally managed it. I had a backup and restored it with the rom manager.
How can I add the stock rom to the sd card. I looked at the files included in the stock rom (when it was extracted when entering setup) - do I need all files? Must I zip them??

Check the stickies. There's a thread full of stock ROMs (as .zips). Put it on your card, backup existing ROM, flash from zip (via ROM Manager or recovery).

I know this is for another thread but ROM manager is a tad temperamental on my phone. Won't let me install clockwork and Won't boot into recovery. All other tasks are greyed out. I do have ROOT and I am running a debranded ROM on an Orange phone.
Will take a look at the link above

Well... may not. If you updgraded the bootloader (i.e. didn't use fixed SBF) and your 'stock' version is Eclair you may have a little problem. If you didn't, just follow the FAQ, question 7

[Q] RUU flash on Desire

Hi all
when I flash a RUU on my desire, will the bootloader also be reset? Or just the ROM like I would flash a custom ROM?
I am looking for the stock pdf reader on the 2.2 froyo devices. I would only flash back to RUU to get the .apk from there and then go back to my custom. Before I do does any of you have a .apk of that reader I'm looking for? I was not able to find that bastard anywhere!?
thanks guys + regards
Fab
Yes...
Hboot, Radio, Rom will be flashed...
I suppose you can get the PDF Reader from the pre-rooted stock rom, look around for it...
It usually contains little to no mod, only root...
Or search for guide to extract the Rom from the RUU, then get the apk...
Last resort, Adobe PDF...
thanks for the advice, appreciate it! I am using adobe right now but I'm really no friend of it.. the software is very slow, or is it just me? stock pdf reader was lightning fast!
will post back when I found the solution
cheers,
Fab
ok,
I've flashed a pre-rooted stock ROM (2.2) and pulled PDFViewer.apk with adb. Install on MIUI ROM was not successful however.
I also tried this strazzere.com/blog/?tag=pdfviewerapk but it also failed (I could install PDFViewer, but got FC when I tried to execute it)
thanks for the help anyway
Regards,
Fab
Crap, I forgot a few important details...
You need a deodexed stock ROM...
The "standard" one have PDFViewer.odex that was supposed to exist together in a Sense ROM only...
The deodexed version of the ROM "merge" this 2 file into PDFViewer.apk...
Secondly, you need the file libpdfreader.so, located in /system/lib/ folder...
All said and done, I'm still not 100% sure it will run on MIUI, it probably got some dependencies with Sense's framework...
Never hurt to try though...
thanks for the update!
I've tried the trick with the additional library and a patched .apk from the site I've posted above, that didn't work either. The sense framework might as well be a cause. Anyway, will continue experiment a lil'bit
cheers
Fab

[Q] big problems with pc36img update

I was flashing a bunch of roms tonight which all had bugs. The last rom was the most recent miui build which also didn't work. Tried to restore but it said not enough space. I am running hboot-6.16.1002. Can anyone point me to a good version of pc36img or does anyone have another fix. Please help. Thanks
btw I have an evo supersonic 4g
also when I ran pc36img everything updated except the system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
when the system tries to update it sais fail-UZ
Do you have the correct pc36img? Which one did you download
We're comin from a pure power source.
what recovery are you using?
PC36IMG.zip is not one specific file containing one specific thing to be flashed. The fact that you don't know this, and apparently have issues with EVERY ROM you flash, I'd say you're having a case of severe user error and are better off just running an RUU and going back to bone stock.

It sounds to me like you ran an RUU, and the sprint lovers rom is the stock rom.
pc36img
I did but now it fails when trying to unzip the system
I don't understand why you have 2 threads about the same problem
pc36img
sorry about that. do you have any ideas? any input would be greatly appreciated. I think the hybrid rom that I downloaded from the evo BB may have been for the htc sense. I think that this may be the problem.

You need to stop flashing roms using pc36img files. get amonRa 2.3 and flash these the correct way. THEY ARE NOT WORKING BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT WIPING YOUR DEVICE BEFORE FLASHING. YOU NEED A CUSTOM RECOVERY SO YOU CAN WIPE ALL NECESSARY AREAS. IF YOU CANNOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO USE A CUSTOM RECOVERY AND FLASH CORRECTLY, STOP FLASHING BECAUSE YOU WILL EVENTUALLY BRICK YOUR PHONE
sorry for the caps everybody but this is his second thread asking the same question

need some help

first of all i would like to thank each and every member of this website really thanks a lot
i have samsung epic 4g touch i have rooted this fone with Touched By S4 Rom for rooted Epic 4G Touch(GB27) rom
but the main problem is phone is getting restarted abruptly can any one please guide me to install latest / stable kernel with stock / stable rom also the data pack is not working in that Touched By S4 Rom rom please help me
following are the screen shots of my cell fone
Your data is not working cuz you have an ICS modem, you probably need to install the one click stock to correctly partition your phone as TBSGS4 is a very stable ROM. Your Software and Baseband versions are both FI03 so you need to do the one click to use Jelly Bean TouchWiz. Find it here- http://www.sxtpdevelopers.com/showthread.php?t=166

What he is saying is that you have to first install the Jelly Bean system, and then re-flash the TBSGS4 rom, as this insures that you are on proper operating system for that Rom to work correctly. He included a link that has step by step directions on how to do it.

Yes, follow the directions in the link, boot it up, use Mobile Odin to flash a custom recovery (kernel in .tar format), then reflash TBSGS4.
I mean everything you are wanting to know is actually in the first 4 posts of the Touched by S4 ROM thread... You really need to read up about what you are doing and understand it as well. There are plenty resources at your fingertips, use them. All the information is already posted many times in the threads here, you can't expect people to post it over and over again, it is your job as a user to search. I told you your problem and linked you to all the relevant information to solve it, the rest is up to you.
