Hi all
when I flash a RUU on my desire, will the bootloader also be reset? Or just the ROM like I would flash a custom ROM?
I am looking for the stock pdf reader on the 2.2 froyo devices. I would only flash back to RUU to get the .apk from there and then go back to my custom. Before I do does any of you have a .apk of that reader I'm looking for? I was not able to find that bastard anywhere!?
thanks guys + regards
Fab
Yes...
Hboot, Radio, Rom will be flashed...
I suppose you can get the PDF Reader from the pre-rooted stock rom, look around for it...
It usually contains little to no mod, only root...
Or search for guide to extract the Rom from the RUU, then get the apk...
Last resort, Adobe PDF...
thanks for the advice, appreciate it! I am using adobe right now but I'm really no friend of it.. the software is very slow, or is it just me? stock pdf reader was lightning fast!
will post back when I found the solution
cheers,
Fab
ok,
I've flashed a pre-rooted stock ROM (2.2) and pulled PDFViewer.apk with adb. Install on MIUI ROM was not successful however.
I also tried this strazzere.com/blog/?tag=pdfviewerapk but it also failed (I could install PDFViewer, but got FC when I tried to execute it)
thanks for the help anyway
Regards,
Fab
Crap, I forgot a few important details...
You need a deodexed stock ROM...
The "standard" one have PDFViewer.odex that was supposed to exist together in a Sense ROM only...
The deodexed version of the ROM "merge" this 2 file into PDFViewer.apk...
Secondly, you need the file libpdfreader.so, located in /system/lib/ folder...
All said and done, I'm still not 100% sure it will run on MIUI, it probably got some dependencies with Sense's framework...
Never hurt to try though...
thanks for the update!
I've tried the trick with the additional library and a patched .apk from the site I've posted above, that didn't work either. The sense framework might as well be a cause. Anyway, will continue experiment a lil'bit
cheers

Hi 2 all!
I just flashed my device with android 2.2
But how can I get back to stock rom (RUU_Bravo_HTC_Europe_1.15.405.3_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_121865)?
The update program does not recognize my phone?
thanks
If you have flashed 2.2 then you have obviously rooted. It is just a matter of finding the rom you want. Put it on your SD card, and then use rom manager to flash it.
What exactly is not recognised?

...the htc rom update util does not recognice my handset...but I finally managed it. I had a backup and restored it with the rom manager.
How can I add the stock rom to the sd card. I looked at the files included in the stock rom (when it was extracted when entering setup) - do I need all files? Must I zip them??

Check the stickies. There's a thread full of stock ROMs (as .zips). Put it on your card, backup existing ROM, flash from zip (via ROM Manager or recovery).

thanks for sharing
I know this is for another thread but ROM manager is a tad temperamental on my phone. Won't let me install clockwork and Won't boot into recovery. All other tasks are greyed out. I do have ROOT and I am running a debranded ROM on an Orange phone.
Will take a look at the link above

Hello...
Somebody help me....
I'd like to extract Ime for SKT Stock ime.
I tried to install .apk from stock rom.
But It was not installed
then I flashed extracted apk files to zip.
It didn't work also...
How do i extract ime?
You can find it under the battery
or type *#*#4636#*#* in the dialer and you can then find it under phone info
edit: My bad misread, found the problem description already weird
i don't think he means the IMEI
you mean htc_ime? the keyboard right?
you can try copying it over to your sd card in adb shell: cp htc_ime.apk /sdcard
or you can copy it over to your computer, sign it and flash it?
if these 2 methods don't work i assume they are not compatible, this could be the case if you are flashing 2.1 software on a 2.2 rom and visa versa.
if you send me the .apk you want to get, i can sign it and make it into a flashable zip, if that doesn't work it's simply not compatible
Thanks

I can't found your e-mail so i attached this thread.
If you need Full skt stock rom. I'll send to you..
thank you very much.
Here you go, this will flash the keyboard.
If it does not work then this means 2.1 and 2.2 are not compatible.
The zip will work.
I appreciate your help.

anybody know this work?
I've not created a package for Odin before, but I thought it'd have a go at packaging up XXJP3 pre-rooted (as it's a bit of a pain to root).
So here it is - XXJP3 for Odin, pre-rooted with the latest Superuser Permissions, an insecure bootloader (so you can push files directly from adb / adb shell direct to root), clockworkmod recovery (replacing the stock recovery which can't flash test signed / unsigned images) and no other changes, and 512 PIT file included. Please provide feedback... I flashed to my device and it seemed to work but, well, you know... this is a new way of doing things.
Odin 3 v1.0 is also included in the zip.
BACKUP EVERYTHING ON YOUR DEVICE / SD CARD FIRST!
Enjoy!

is the sdcard name still change in this version?
if so, all games can't be played or need to be reinstalled
I'm gonna revert the sdcard name for a future version.

Works great! One question:
Hi Paul,
works great, thanks a lot. Why the old busybox version?

Did someone note a wrong black levels in cam recording? I don't know if by playing video on a different output, like a TV, it would give back the same faded blacks. Is it a recording or reproducing only problem?
hi, does this include the flash player 10.1
Hey all
First off, I have done all my research to try and answer this myself.. I GIVE UP! I have to be missing something.
I just rooted my HTC Evo using the unrevoked method..FULL ROOT 2.2 YAY!!!
Also, I followed all the steps from the UNLOCKR.com vid to unlock nandroid in hopes of being able to flash a custom rom. I now have the HBOOT .76 ver I think...downgraded from the .93 ver.
Everything seemed to go through seemlessly. But, when I go into recovery and try to flash the rom with the custom recovery (AMOS RA? I think is the one I am using, previously had clockwork mod but didn't like as much)...anyhow I keep getting an error after I try to flash the ZIP, MYNS WARM TWOPOINT TWO ROM to be exact. It says "E: Can't find update script" WHAT AM I DOING WRONG OR NOT DOING??? PLZ ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!! THANKS IN ADVANCE. Sorry if this has been answered but I really did search with no avail!
Thanks again!
Trying to get this figured out ASAP!

Are you by chance using a mac when you download the file?

Also, make sure the zip file you download isn't corrupt. Try and extract or peek inside to see if all the files are intact; more specifically, look for the update/updater script in the META-INF/com/google/android folder.
I did use a mac to download the roms.
I rooted my Evo using a Mac and installed roms using a mac. For nand unlock it should already unlock from the unrevoked method, but mine had hboot 97. There is a thread in the development area where you can find hboot 73 to flash.

My friend that uses a mac has had issues with roms like this. For some reason his mac was changing the compression when he would download the zip files. You might want to look into that.

Thank you very much. I did notice that the mac will actually de-compress the file as it downloads and when you re-compress the file it doesn't keep the correct format. Booted up windows 7 on my mac and re downloaded all the roms and kernal that I wanted and it worked flawlessly. THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP GUYS!! GREAT ADVICE AND AWESOME RESPONSE TIME. Mods plz close..issue solved!!!
Downloaded ROM automatically decompressed...
Ran into this when I started trying to flash ROMs on my Mac...come to find out I was in Safari and once downloaded, the ROM was automatically decompressed and taken out of .zip form. I downloaded the same files using Firefox, and it gave the option to either have something decompress the downloaded file automatically, or save the .zip file to the HD. Once I selected save the .zip file, it was gravy. Just a lil help since I didn't see it posted. Have fun!

Just rooted other day, when I finally found a rom I liked I had the exact same issue. Used that glorious search function on this forum, and found this.
Installed and downloaded rom via Firefox, and now running MikFroyo !!!
Just flash Froyo ROM over it or ? I am pretty sure that was a specific file from TMartin or even Virus but don't know where is it.

Just wipe and flash like you'd normally flash. There are no special steps required to revert back to froyo from gingerbread.
The special files you're asking about were simply zips that did the wiping for you. Just do the normal wipes and you'll be fine.
Thanks....
