Anyone use an external battery charger so you can charge your extra battery?
If so, which one do you use? I'm currently looking to buy an OEM HTC battery, but I want to charge it without putting it in my phone and charging it that way.
Thanks in advance!

I have that one and for the most part it works pretty well.
It also has a USB out so you can, in theory, charge a battery in the charger AND use the USB to charge your phone. The phone's touch screen doesn't work if you do that, however, so the USB port on it is a bit dodgy.

I've been using this for months, and had the same unit for my previous Nexus One as well. Amazing price, and works perfectly, although it took about 30 days to ship from Hong Kong.
It's great to always have 3 fully-charged batteries on deck and ready to go when I'm low on juice. Battery life is no longer a concern for me, as it takes seconds to swap them out and throw the drained one back on the charger.
Highly recommended.

Ya I've been using this too, and other than the super long shipping i'm perfectly happy with it. So convenient
Random question but do you guys know if this is the same charger as the one for the HD2? I have two stand alone HD2 battery chargers at home. I was going to pull the trigger and get this, but it looks pretty darn similar to the HD2 charger.
Its the same one. My gf has an hd2 and I can use hers with no problem.

Is there an external charger available for Universal battery.
My old battery shuts down at 34% of power, hence I've purchased a new one.I am a 'heavy' user so I just thought it would be better if there were any external charger available for the spare battery.

Hmmmm... I'd be interested in this too. Use a second battery for emergencies when travelling and it's a pain in the arse swapping them and trying to fully charge them both before setting off.
got my battery and the charger from this guy...appox 10.5$ for both

That's a pretty good deal, but...
...looking specifically for some kind of cradle charger just for the battery so you can drop it in and charge without it being in the phone... think that's what kalya is after too...
i mean i got the battery and desktop charger for 10.5$...if you need pics or any other info let me know

here are the pics... they were taken from the uni...so the quality is horrible[]
Man, that's sweet... I'm sold. Just wondering how the battery performs? Is it an official one cos it looks like it?
Ah, well, I bought one anyway... I'm willing to pay that just for the charger, and fallenczar, if you say he's a good seller, that's good enough for me. Many thanks.

well the battery in the pic is the original one...the new battery is SUPERB...this is a pretty handy thing...charges the battery real quick...the only thing you have to be sure of is that you have to put in your charger into the mini-usb port of this charger with a little force as it is quite hard...and the led takes a couple of sec to show the charging indicator

Sweet... so long as it does the job. I'm impressed, only ordered yesterday and it was shipped this morning. Nice.
Thank you both, fallenczar and spydertracks. It's exactly what I want.Your 'little' discussion answers all questions, thanks again.
One alternative worth considering is http://www.gpsforless.co.uk/product_details.php?id=4970 which will allow around four or five full charges to the Universal, I have been using the slightly smaller capacity pack for quite a while. Very handy when using the 3G connection, just keep it plugged in to the phone and it tops off the battery - Mike

those are rated at 2200mah, with loss for charging and heat i'd assume you'd get somewhere around half a charge.
better to just get something like this

which can get you 2-3 full charges
To be honest am not looking at 2-3 chargers, I just need something that will give my battery more power so can watch football live when out and to play games, as I charge my phone every night ...
I get home from work with about 30% remaining but am curious about playing games etc just incase battery dies.... Was alright on 1.26 but since updating to 1.28 battery seems to have gone worse

Our battery is 1800mah and this is 2200mah so it should give it one full charge and a bit but in reality these batteries are usually 70% to 90% of their stated amount so expect one full charge. Its a bit pricey for 2200mah though, then again its very portable, let us know how it goes if you decide to get it
I'm thinking about this one, but I'm concerned about charging at non stock voltages/currents. Will charging at 5.2V damage the phone? What about devices that feed more than 1000mA?

This one looks a little too good to be true, 4000mah in such a small size, but it should charge our device just fine the charger supplied with our phone says it has a 1A output which is equal to the 1000ma supplied by this battery pack. If the device feeds more than 1000ma the phone will simply charge faster. The only difference is the charger supplied with the one x states an output of 5v while this one says 5.2v but I doubt this matters. I'd go with the first one .

My mistake, my old phone used to charge faster with a more powerful charger.
I have one of these.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/New-Trent-I...MP50/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1336512020&sr=8-2
Bought it 18 months back for my DHD as I go to a lot of music festivals and I didnt want to pay to charge my phone up. I used it when I bought it from a full charge on my DHD and I got 13 full charges out of the thing. And lasts a full week when camping (as I charge my ipod too)
A load of my friends have actually gone out and bought them as a result of seeing and using mine. Not that big or heavy and great for use on planes as well! Has an autoshut off also so when the phone stops drawing power the battery pack shuts down to avoid draining itself.

Thanks for the pics they helped a lot, its not anywhere near as big as i thought it would be. I might pick one up for long journeys I'd be able to charge almost all of my devices fully.
I've got myself a power link 5200mah battery. Does 2 charges on my one x while gives 75% to my iPad. I think it was worth the £40 I paid

I can say that it is more than expected. It charges my HOX very fast and I feel that my HOX battery life is much better now.
I am heavy user so screen on time was 3 hours maximum before Astro. Now it stays about 5 hours with heavy usage.
I strongly recommend this great product.

They can be charged either way, though they will charge fastest when you plug the charger into the wall and put the battery directly into it. This is probably also best for the battery life in the long run.
Any updates about the quality of the battery? I just ordered one off amazon myself, hahaha. My current battery lasts 4 hours if I'm lucky on any rom, so I figured it was time for a new one.

I have those batteries and ordered them thru amazon..They work great!! but you get better charging with the charger that comes with it that connect to the wall socket. after you see the blue light..leave it for 15 more mins..as it get better charge!! They're just about the same as the stock batts..No NFC also.

Does the 2200 battery fit with the stock cover plate?.. I have the S3 and my wife has the S2 so I dont much about the S2 phone.
I have these batteries and yes, they fit the stock backplate. I give them 4/5 for stock replacement just because no NFC. Actual charge capacity is great for the stock size.

Personally, I applaud the decision for HTC to make the One charge slowly. Since the battery is sealed, it's a good tactic to extend the life of the battery and thus the life of the phone. Fast charges on a battery, done too frequently, will make it lose a lot of capacity in just a year's time or less. When you charge quickly, you create a lot of heat. Batteries hate heat.
This is also the reason I only charge my One via computer USB. I'm thankful that my usage patterns and the way my life typically works can allow me to do this. Battery life has been excellent for me so far. I can typically get 18-24 hours out of it.

Whats interesting is my phone seems to charge quickly some times and slowly other times using the OEM AC charger.
The One's charging circuitry is capped at 1 amp. It's physically impossible to make it charge any faster, unless you're an engineer at HTC and know what components to replace to allow 2A charging.
Using this one and the battery seems identical to the factory one in performance. Good deal for $20.

Just ordered one, currently in India so hopefully it makes it here OK. I'll post back up once I get and test it.
