What r some good ways to charge my battery I just got it... and tryna charge it the right way so I can get as good use out of help please

Charge it, and when it gets to 100%(green led) charge for about 2.5-3 more hours. That way it will have a full complete charge.

Is the 3500mah? If you use it heavily, im talking watching like 4 movies, music nonstop, on a voicecall for 3 hours, and internet like no more, it should do you 15 hours. If you use it like a normal phone, id say 2 days without charging. My brother has one and he charges like every other day.

It's the 2600 one I think

That should definitely last you the entire day. I have a stock 1500mah and it last me about 8 hours but thats because I never put the phone down. Are you rooted?

I have no clue what rooted mean lol

Awwwwwwwwwww! Rooting is basically opening your phone up to bigger and better possibilities. Its kind of like hacking. You could have installed a custom kernel and rom for better battery life. Its alot to explain. Im rooted with a CM7 Rom and custom S-Z Kernel which lets me control the overclocking/underclocking of my phone. Basically when my screen is off, i lose no battery at all.

What apps should I download or how do I root it

GUIDES: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/163955-htc-evo-4g-root-guide-updated-11-10pm-est-march-11th-2011-a.html
ROOTING: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/194918-rooting-dummies.html
It should take you like an hour to Root. Its about 55 minutes to get your phone and pc root ready, and 5 minutes to actually root the phone. Ask as much questions as you can if you need help.

Ok thanks Imma try it out and let u know if I got questions

Yeah I did no I didn't root it yet

Hold on. You may need to calibrate the battery. Download "Battery Calibration" in the app store and follow the directions to setup your battery. I think your phone still believes you have the old battery in play.

It said I need to dl a Rom.... what Rom do I need

In order to install a rom your going to have to root your phone. All I can say is give your battery time to adjust since you just got it. It should begin to act normally after a couple of days of normal phone use and charging.

This is the second extended battery I've had the first one didn't work right

Give it some time. If it doesnt work right after a week then get a new one. What type is it and where did you get it?

How fast do you drop to 90%?

After unplugging?
Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk
My battery life has always been pretty sh**ty even b4 all this phone hacking and crazy apps..
Currently it takes me aroune 10 to 15 mins to drop to 90%... but that maybe just a bad batt app reading..
nevertheless I cant go a whole day without charging once or twice...
I carry my charger with me everywhere.
How people get 3 days with this phone is beyond me... Maybe its bcuz I love to use my phone mostly as an ipod.
from 6 am to 2 pm still above 90. (in school, airplane) actually sitting at 67 right now and unplugged at 530 am.
OMG.... Teach me your ways... What are you running? Any Custom rom? Do you like not use many widgets? Or is it simply cuz you barely touched your phone all day?.... lol even i did that just idle sitting it would probably be 1/2 batt in like 4-5 hours

if u mean std widget u should know that it switches to 90 when actual procentage is 9x. So when @ ledefy && motocharge i have 99, there is 90 @ widget.
I get around 7hours wih 100-90%, it drops to 99% as soon as i unplug

Honestly HOW! I cant even imagine that... You guys have some kind of special batteries right?
no special batteries or rom. everything stock. my clock speeds are stock i just undervolt. 300/17,600/31,800/42. might not work for everyone but im not a power user and dont play many games. thats what the game boy is for after all
Me too having the same problem and I am on stock rom and indian firmware and battery sucks and motoversion is 2.59.0 have lots and of games n apps but I have only rooted the phone with superoneclick hope you people can provide a solution for getting a better backup and yes I have even tried calibrating the batter but no use at all still I get the same problem battery draining and drains completely within 9 to 10 hrs even after minimal usage!!!!
Thanx in advance!!!

Same for me. Since Moto only shows 10% changes you have to let it charge a good hour before unplugging when you see it's at 100%. It will show at 100% when the charge gets to 95%, so you could be losing 5% charge right there. I'm using the 1% display app from another thread around here, and I only unplug it when that app shows 101% charge. As soon as I unplug it, it drops to 99%, but lasts from 99% to 90% for about 7 or 8 hours if I don't really play with it. My usual discharge is 1% an hour. The phone/battery is programmed to not overcharge, so even if you leave it charging for 24 hours, as soon as you unplug it, it will drop to 99% instantly.
U mean motocharge app?
It always stops at 100% for me, never goes over
one thing noticed today... uptime was 2days 10hours and something ...and i had 1% battery left on motocharge ...and it took me forever to discharge that last percent
I did full brightness, full volume on music that was playing, turned on wifi and BT and played angry birds meanwhile ...and it took me like 30minutes to burn down that last percent of the battery, so Im guessing it isnt calibrated right

No. This one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=930457
Sorry wrong link corrected.
battery life drains out pretty quickly... i'd say it drops below 90% after an hour or so. one example would be 9am-2pm with texting, whatsapp-ing and the occassionally surfing, and i'm down to 30-40% batt life.
i think the major draining app would be those that run data in the background, coz i was in japan recently (data turned off while roaming) and a full day 9am-12am and i was hovering around 70-8x%.

[Q] G2 burning out batteries? Repair?

[Edit] so what do i need to replace within my phone in order to make it so that the phone doesnt burn out the batteries? Please help
So about a week ago my original stock battery started draining excessively, i thought that since i had it for more than a year that it was normal. So i went online and bought a new one from amazon.
When the new one got here i could tell it was a fake, but it was cheap so i didn't complain and it got mostly positive reviews so i just went with it. not even a week with the battery and it failed just like my old one.
One thing i noticed was on bother batteries it had gotten a small smudge/burned looking mark on the golden rectangular connectors. Is this a normal mark, does anyone else have it?
Any advice would be great, I dont want to go out and buy a new battery if it's my phone thats the problem. (btw im also using the stock charger)
I also have tried other chargers, complete wipes, changing roms, all failed. And if the phone ever does turn on its only to cwm recovery
When you got the new battery did you let it drain then charge it over night?

Try to calibrate it, drain it all the way to the point it doesn't charge then charge it while the phone is off for 8 hours then go into recovery and wipe battery stats and then reboot phone. Keep doing it for a few times

Alright i'll leave it charging tonight, i actually have it charging right now, its blinking orange as usual when it has no power.
Btw i didnt mention this, before it died when ever it was charging it would show that it;s charging but go down as if it wasnt being charged. then when disconnected it'll just die.
And do you mind to check to see if ur battery's golden rectangular ports on the bottom look burned? both of my batteries are like that. (btw when plugged in tha battery doesnt get hot)
Sorry to bump, but considering that the phone is burning out the batteries (the above advice didnt work, i tried to delete the battery stats but phone shut down and wont boot up any longer) what parts would i need to replace to make the phone not burn out the battery?
Take it to a cell phone repair store and get an analysis. If you decide to get it repaired there they take the analysis fee out of the total

Procedure of installing a new Extended Battery.

I might receive my new Seidio 3500mah extended battery today for the Galaxy Nexus, and I'm not sure if I need to do certain things before installing it, to those with experience.. do I simply install/power up the phone/start charging? or do I need to keep my phone off and start charging? does it make any difference having the phone On or Off the first time you install an extended battery? I read on Seidio's website that they recommend to keep it charging for at least 3-4 hours after it's 100% charged, would that be the procedure with every charge..?
And do I need to Wipe Battery Stats before installing it? it's things like these that came to my mind, I just wanna make sure I'd do the right thing the first time I have it on.
Thanks everyone. :good:
IMO, I just install the new battery and turn it on and charge it to 100 then use it as normal. The very first time it might go down fast but after a few cycles it should improve.

Not sure if it's necessary but I would leave a new, extended battery on the charger for at least an extra hour after it says "Full". Other than that, don't worry about wiping battery stats, that has become an unnecessary procedure these days. Only very rarely does it seem to help anything and even then it is debatable.

If the phone says it has a full charge you can take it off the charger. Every time you plug the phone into the charger it wipes it own battery stats to make new ones for that new cycle.

No, just the first time. I do it as more of a "superstition"-type thing, not really based in science or fact. :silly: But, I have always had good battery life with new phones/batteries (fingers crossed) so I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Other than that, you should be fine. My phone has taken well to my extended battery without having to do anything at all.

4.1.2 Battery Issues? Simple Fix

So the first thing I noticed when I updated to the MB4 4.1.2. Rom was the battery drain. Obviously, I also thought it was the LTE/4G/3G/2G options turned on being the culprit. But I did some research and found out wiping cache (not wipe data) in cwm did the trick. Now I only lose about a percent per night even with LTE on. Obviously, my GPS is not on when not in use. Looking at the battery setting, I see that the phone is awake only when the screen is on. That's what you want to get to I think for great battery life. Hope that helps. Not something hard to try and you'll notice no drain. Before I did this, I could come back in like an hour to see a couple percentage drops. Let us know how that worked for you.
ps - I just recalled I wiped or formatted another section. Just to be safe, wipe dalvic cache and format cache while you're at it. Usually it's best to format everything before a new rom and that helps solved most battery issues. But since we're not doing that, wipe these 3 and your battery life should come back up to normal.
Anyone else tried this?
I'm losing like 4% per hour on low to average use.

There's really nothing to lose here. You're not erasing your app data or anything of that nature.
Any way to do this on an unrooted/stock recovery phone?

unfortunately youll need root and cwm or similar to get into these options.
So basically you suggest rooting then install cwm?

Sorry for the delay so I went to bed and lost 7% after 5 hours. I dont use any 3rd party power saving aside from the one in the phone settings. My phone is rooted but running stock. Only thing off was the BT and GPS and everything is left on default.
Is this percentage drain normal?

Yeah, from using the 4.1.2 MB rom, I think you're generally going to get worse battery life than 4.1.1 stock t-mo rom. (that thing was amazing on battery) I really don't know what the BIG change in battery life is coming from. I even turned off LTE but doesn't really make a difference. I seriously don't think we should lose over a couple % overnight. Ill have to reinstall GSM Battery to see whats going on.

kinda odd that today, I lost about 50% during the working hours. That's close to what I usually lose with the 4.1.1 avg use during breaks, quick games, lots of news, etc. Gonna charge full tonight and see how it goes tomorrow. I might probably use it a little more though since my Boss is on a trip lol.
I did another test last night from a full charge. Slept for 4.5 hrs and lost 13%
I'm currently at 70% now with 8h36m on it @ 30m screen on time lol.
But realistically, as long as I dont have to run and look for charger before the day ends, I'm fine with this. I usually charge before going to bed and I still have about 15%. With about 4 hrs screen on the average.
Still better than all my previous smartphones.

lollipop battery

It seems that with the new update I am getting less battery life then when kit Kat I have everything the same expect no root and I would usually get around 5 1/2 battery life on kit Kat with root but now I'm nearly getting 4? And I already factory reset it and it's still the same any help ?
Im having similar results, with 3 hrs screen time being my average. Fresh install, wiped clean, etc etc.
Mine is about the same. I have it set to power saving mode. Just not affecting background data. Getting a full day with it without having to plug it in till about 11pm, my day off charger starting at about 5:30am. It might be your settings and if you're a power user. I use mine all through the day, from streaming audio to social networking and talking and texting or surfing the web. Even watching videos!
My battery has taken a hit as well. I'm seeing about 20-30% less energy from what I used to get.
before the update I unplugat 7:30 I got to high school so I stream netflix I use YouTube occasionly read books at half Brightness with no auto sync nfc Bluetooth off WiFi off till I get home and when I'm not using my data I turn it off (even though I have unlimited ) then when I get home connect to WiFi and keep streaming YouTube and text social media and never worried till about 10 or 11 with around 5 hohrs and 40 or 45 min at 10 % but now I bear get 4 ost
You people do know that just like when you flash a ROM you have to train the update or ROM to the battery. To do this you have to completely drain and charge the battery a few times. I get better battery time with Lolipop then I did with KK. But I also trained the battery and system.
Yeah I was thinking that also but idk if that was the answer or there was something going on because when I first got this phone I couldn't get more then 4 hours ost but now I got more, until the update

You all have to also remember that if you use a KK rom that they were heavily tweaked by the rom maker most times for battery life/performance boosts.

These both make a lot of sense when it comes to battery life. I concur with them both. From a stock standpoint and the custom tweaked.
With stock NK2 I was getting almost 30 hours wothout charge and about 4 hours screen on.... now with OB7 i am lucky to get 10 hours with 1.5 hours screen on. Seriously thinking about going back to NK2. yes I did a full system wipe 3 times to be safe and still having said issue with battery

Have you fully discharged your battery to the point that the phone shuts off and then recharged with the phone off at least twice? If not you should give it a try. This is supposed to be standard procedure any time a ROM is changed or updated. The ROM has to learn the charge and discharge characteristics of the battery and the only way to do this is to have it run a couple of full cycles.

Accidentally gave thumbs up. Anyway, not sure if that's true. I've installed many roms across multiple phones (like most of you have) and I've drained and charged batteries after installing roms and sometimes I haven't. Either way I haven't noticed better battery life. It's usually the same.

This only gives you very small gains if any, also this matters more only if you don't ever let your phone die completely/have a non-stock battery.

Thats usually whats going to happen, small gain/loss. Nothing amazing unless you have an extended battery the device needs to learn to use.
