[Q] Is this the right ear speaker I need? - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Tmo G2 permarooted sim unlock n all that jazz. My ear speaker crackles and pops and I would rather replace the ear speaker myself then unroot and have them send me another device.
So my question is this the part i need? http://cgi.ebay.com/HTC-Desire-1st-...ltDomain_0&hash=item23103b14e6#ht_4963wt_1139
If not can somebody give me a link for parts?
Thx in advance

Why would you replace the speaker and then send it back anyway?

i think he means he'd rather fix the speaker himself, instead of having to unroot and having HTC send him a new device.. bit of a weird sentence..

Yes his then should be a than...lol

Second Mic?

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if the HTC Desire HD does have a second mic for the noise cancelation.
Almost every phone that HTC has built since Nexus One has this feature, but I can't find it on my DHD :-/
Am I wrong or blind to see it?
I actually would like to know as well, as I've looked and couldn't see anything.
I read somewhere some time ago that it didn't have a second mic but I'm not sure though.
No noise cancellation on DHD, no idea why HTC decided not to include it.

Blown speaker and don't want to unroot...

I was wondering if anyone has been able to validate the claim that Sprint will fix broken rooted phones yet because my speaker is blown on my EVO and I really don't want to loose root just for a speaker. Thanks in advance.

Apparently this varies at different Sprint locations, since the speaker would be classified a hardware problem, you should be ok. I would suggest calling Sprint first to get their official stand on it, then at least you walk in armed with a little knowledge. Where I live (VA), I had a USB port problem, they took my rooted phone no problem, and even found me a froyo 2.2 so I could root it instead of a newer one with locked bootloader. But I have heard the horror stories.....good luck!

Hardware problems like speaker can be caused by OS modification.
Many Custom kernels increase speaker amplification thus they blow left & right corp store techs are well aware of it.
Also if you go into store tech finds root theirs a 99.9% chance they note your account warranty void on device.
Sprint corps not playing around anymore.
You guys are the reason this site is #1. Very helpful. I'm going to try and get a hold of someone at my local store again to see if I can get an answer. If not I'm gonna drop my insurance and start doing my own repairs. Thanks a million.

How do you know your speaker is blown? Is it totally silent and no sound comes out of it at all? I though mine was blown until I took the back cover off and blew a little compressed air on it and it started working again. Try that approach if you hear no sound at all before trying to replace it. If it is blown and all you hear is distorted sound, then by all means, replace that bad boy.
Good Luck.
The sprint store by me didn't even look for signs of root when I took my phone in the last 3 times... the last reburb I got was already S-OFF and they didn't even notice that... they either went in for the repair (first thing they did was pull the battery to start taking it apart to repair it, not even turn the screen on) or they just swapped it without even looking at the phone at all.
Each store is different, if one doesn't do it, try another.

Sprint services rooted phones.
distorted sound from internal speaker...
mine has just started with a scratchie kind of sound during normal phone calls, can that internal speaker be repaired your self, I think I have taken care of my phone so not wanting to get refurb just yet...
The louder back speaker is not having the problem
The sprint store by me doesn't care if ur rooted or not because they said I'll just ujroot it and take it in doesn't makea difference to them

Phone Recognizes Earphones As Headset

Hey all,
Since I have the DHD i have the problem that he recognizes my in-ear from skullcandy (no mic. or control) as a headset which should have mic and volumecontrols. It sounds like it doesn't matter but when I listen to music or even when I do nothing and my in-ear are plugged in, the phone begins to call people or stops the music by itself. It changes the icon from headphone to headset. Hope you guys know these 2 different icons. I guess the in-ear sends commands to the phone or something? I know pretty much everything about the DHD, but this... I also tried every ROM available for DHD.
Searched the forum for this problem but I couldn't find the answer.
A friend of mine who has got the Sensation (stock ROM) got the same problem..
I hope you understand what the problem is. Buying other in-ears just doesn't work, I've tried.
Buying in-ears with control is just too expensive

Hello,
I am experiencing the very same problem with my HTC Desire. What did you do to fix it?
Thank you.

W_arranty and rooted

Hi!
my phone is rooted and unlocked via HTC Dev. My head phone jack has been acting up in a most annoying way. The jack is very glitchy, if you touch the stiff part of the headphone (the part just above the hole so to say), it pauses the music because it thinks I pulled out my headphones. To get it to work again I need to pull the plug and put it back in again and start the music again.
This is very annoying and I would like to get it fixed. So my question is: To return it for warranty, shall I unroot and relock it or doesn't hthat matter because they will find out that I had it unlocked anyway? Any advice at all would be appreciated!
//BloomTwig
I would unroot the phone and back to stock.
You then have the biggest chance to get it fixed, if they find out its a easy way to say fixing it
God, I had them tell me I had water damage and they sent pics, but I knew it was a lot of crap, so they took it back for a 2nd loook and admitted the pics were not even my phone.
I think the manufacturers will cover you even if you're rooted, but I'm not entirely sure so don't quote me on that! i.e. Carrier won't, but contact HTC directly and they might be able to help!
HTC are clear on rooted phones. DONT give them the info, if you do, do at your own risk

That's backwards for most places (well, certainly most of Europe). The responsibility to uphold statutory rights lies with the retailer, not the manufacturer.
If in 1st year then you can force the retailer to deal with it, but they would just send it to HTC cos they cover it for a further year. So the root problem would still be there.

Thanks for the input. So I will just take a chance I guess... If they realize it's been rooted, what will they do then?
Will the fact that this is a hardware error, some kind of glitch in the connecting, and not a software mess up have any influence? The problem would be there even though it was never rooted...
Even if its not related, it breaks their t&cs. If they find out they will just post it back unfixed or might fix it. Fingers crossed

Ok, thanks all!

[Q] How to send HTC One X to death?

Hello Guys,
don't ask why! I need a way to brick a HTC ONE X. It does not have to be permanently but at least enough that it can not be restored (besides by HTC themselves). Also it would be nice if it does not leave too obvious traces (so no physical damage).
I thought about a bootloader update (with unplugging the cable in the "wrong" second) but I am open to other suggestions.
I onloy know how to flash Samsung Galaxy Series, so please link to sources for needed software.
Thanks in advance

i saw one on youtube. they are working. surely it will make your one x into a brick (literally)
here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dk4adP2Pi-Q
You can disassemble the phone and using a piece of Aluminium foil or steel wool, connect all the solder connections randomly while the phone is ON until phone suffocates.
If your intentions is wasting the phone for fun then :
1- Look for the HTC logo on the back
2- Make a small "x" exactly 3 mm below the "T"
3- Through the "x" you marked, Drill using a fine 10mm drillbit until you can feel back of the screen
4- Continue drilling until you can see the drillbit on the other side of the phone.
I didnt see any moderators say anything but........ This is not an appropriate question to open post. Not trying to rain on your parade, Im all for getting new stuff. You dont want to get caught up in defrauding AT&T or HTC, google this you'll find alot about people getting caught. If you really need to get a new phone opps it fell in the pooper. Be carefull when asking stuff like this, you really should be asking someone you know via pm or email.
