[Q] Select Copy/Paste text like Sence roms.. and

Hi,
I have recently converted from Sence based ROM to Vanilia based ROM (OpenDesire 4.0) and trying to find some alternative apps for the core features I use all the time on my phone. The main one I am looking for is an app which can select/copy and paste in most apps?
I have tried searching and googling and only seem to find this one which takes a screen shot and then OCR's but people say its very inaccreate. I am also only really looking for text not so much images.
Anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks for the link. It seems its the same one I noticed earlier which doesnt quite do what I want. Will keep doing some research and will let you know if I find one suitable for just text.

Will do.
Just sorting out a few other apps atm due to converting from sence based ROM's.

Search the market for an app called 'Copy Paste It'. It's not as good as the Sense copy paste but it works pretty well.

heheh no problem. Looks like atm its the only opton. Shame really.

The htc Sense "copy/past" make all the difference..I'm SO UPSET that ONLY htc SENSE can make that !! I was happy too with my cyanogen Rom until I discover that navigation without the copy/past is just ****..how the F**k they didnt think about that when they realized these roms to include it!! because of that im back to htc sense which is so far the best for rightnow, I know that the problem is related to the "browser" naked in android, and the htc one called WEBKIT 3.1 have it...why is it not possible to include then the WEBKIT browser in the other non sense roms then ????

I just did this earlier today with Desire Z, lol, this is not my day.
Where did The New Guy thread go with the newest version 6?
I told my buddy at work today I'd update his phone from version 5 to version 6...and now it's gone.

this was my rom of choice, where the f*** did it go?

All I know is I flashed the camera remap for Rosie And it caused my phone to not load the htc system twice. It is in rom manager.

He's built up a fairly solid reputation of taking other devs' work and claiming it as his own over on the eris forums. He had made a number of new accounts to avoid the ban, and I guess eventually he just moved to the Incredible with a new username.
But whenever he was banned from xda he would keep posting updates to his roms over on androidforums.com, maybe you guys can find him there.

Hmmm...yeah I always wondered why the ROM was under Andrizoid's name, but under some random guy's name here.
Also, pretty sure the thread is missing from AndroidForums.com also.

yes, he kinda took myns two point two without asking and used it as his own.
But dont worry guys, myn and I are working on rls 3 for a Friday rls. Its fantastic,
Rosie Mods App built in. (no more flashing to change mapping) just change it and save. Working flipclock with no bugs. ect.. much more!!

myn's two point two has been my daily rom since the two of you posted it, can't wait for an update

So, jdkor and new guy were twins? There is way too much intrigue on these forums for a 42 yr old guy like trying to make his toys better. Guess, I will stick to the trusted few going forward - ID, Lou, RMK, NIX, ifhtp.

By the way while we are on the topic, whats the story with "Blackdroid"? I use his ultimate droid ROM [see my sig] (pretty spectacular AOSP ROM to be honest). Apparently he went tellytubby byebye from xda too for something? What did he do?

Long story short: it's just cyanogenmod with a skin.

He had Swype built into it, against forum rules.

It's alright, Myncubus' RLS3 blows it away.

just wait till friday. Rls 2 is outdated and rls3 spanks it. Just dont take rls 2 or rls 3 beta as the product

[Q] [MOD] Running Sense Rom w/ 3 Home Screens

I happen to be one of those rooters who still enjoys the Sense UI over an AOSP base.
However, I was wondering if there was a way to lower the amount of home screens I have. My daily is Myn's RLS4 and with Sense I find myself only really using 3-5 home screens and basically fill the other 2 with widgets just so they are not blank. I wouldn't mind them if I have to, but it's possible my phone would run a little quicker and save some battery if I were able to limit the amount of home screens and focus on using the apps for the info when I need it rather than have the widgets constantly running.
I'm not sure if there is a way to integrate a Miui or ADW/Launcher Pro method of controlling how many screens we have, but I think it's not far out of the ballpark.
I searched through the forums for about an hour looking for any info, but didn't find anything. Please post a link if this has been discussed already.

Seriously though, when I first got the Evo, I was like yeah seven screens your other phones suck. Now I just want 3, maybe 5.

For the clouds just install "widgetlocker" it has the option

....really you cant change that in the sense options somewhere? Just another reason Sense is lame, imo.
LauncherProPlus, FTW!!! I got one homescreen, and 15 icons in my dock, not to mention swype gestures, and running CM6 so i have lockscreen gestures as well...

Hey buddy, this is a development question. It was more of a suggestion of an idea that I had not seen before more than a question about something that exists.
The community is about making better devices, apps, etc. for all and there's no need to waste your time posting a reply about being in the wrong section. If it is violating anything, the mods can move it.

Moved to Q&A as this is a [Q]. The Android Development threads are for software coding/releases.

Is there progress for Swype on AOSP roms such as CM7 or.. Others? I left Sense-based roms from EViO and while it was very fast, I don't see myself going back. The only thing I miss, however, is swype. Now, I know that XDA is the best damn crew of developers when it comes to 'phone' software. I still haven't seen any threads about it though. Is there progress?

What kind of progress are you looking for? Find an .apk for it, install it and voila! Now you have Swype on your AOSP ROM.

What I am doing: sign up for beta. Then install the beta.
While waiting to be accepted, try this: take swype.apk from system app and libswypecore.so from system lib, and push to the same places on cm7. Worth a shot. Just backup first.

I have ran the beta on both cm 6 and cm 7...Not sure what you are waiting on.

Running the beta as well. I tried the file copying route with no success. Said it couldn't find the english file.

Plus the Beta is more up to date than the copy that is getting shipped with 3.70 roms. It has more features and functionality.

I can't believe I didn't actually try one of the .apks. I thought I heard that swype was only being developed for sense-based roms but thinking about it now I realize how stupid that is. I also thought that swype had some kind of authentication but I don't know where that came from. Wow. I apologise for wasting youse guyses time.

Pure android theme/rom/tweak? (not w/ sprint ID)

Hey all, this is one of my first post here, but I have been a user since the original Moto Droid. Before asking any questions I wanted to thank EVERYONE here who has helped me & the Mods for keeping this place so neat and clean!
Does anyone know of a way to get the pure android experience on this phone? (i.e. sms, dialer, icons, lock screen, etc) Like what comes on the new Galaxy Nexus!?
Please forgive me if this has been addressed already, I couldn't find anything with any solutions or definite answers.

Yup, or Codename, they are based off Android Open Source Project but have a few tweaks and tons of settings to play with.

There used to be some bare roms, but now now with ICS going on, it seems gingerbread roms are going away.

A couple themers are actually in the process right now of making a sense ui theme no sure when it will end up happening but you may wanna wait for that

Awesome, I will wait a while and see what happens. I'm fairly please to be stuck with this theme if I'm forced to have one.
Running Caulkins v3 now for optimized battery.

I found something that I am 100% happy with and thought I would share for others.

And the ACS ICS theme found here ~~>

And came up with a very fast, battery saving, pure(ish) android experience.
