You need to be more specific. Like I said, flash nightly 40, the most recent is generally better, for starters.

Alright, personally, I use the 3.3.7 kernel; though you'd be fine with the built in kernel.
The difference between the nightly numbers is that the newer ones have more tweaks, and performances enhancers, ect over the old one. The nightly builds upon the old one, to make it better, and generally fix bugs.
So I can't use Netatchy's kernels with it? I'm just trying to get my camera working again

NO, do not do that.
netarchy = sense kernel
CM7 = AOSP rom
You should never mix the kernel and rom type. aosp rom needs an aosp kernel, and a sense rom needs a sense kernel.

40 worked fine for me personally. 41 gave me problems...xD Just high battery drainage. But yes, download between 39-41.
fyi, the nightly builds should be more for people who know more about programming, they are test builds where they are expected not to work correctly. the CM RC are mostly worked out with few glitches, and CM STABLE shouldnt have any problems, if you are new to development i would suggest to stay to RC or Stable....

This might be crazy but is it possible for an app to scan your evo (or whatever android phone you have) to see what kernal would work best for your phone like netarchy or ziggy or king?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
No, and keep in mind, if you want to try an "older" kernel than what ships with 3.70.xxx.x you could possibly run into wakelock issues, camera issues, etc. Too many reports of this happening to be experimenting unless that's your "thing". I need my phone to work 100%, all the time, every time.
If you're on 3.29.xxx.x or 3.30.xxx.x based roms, you can try most any kernels and see which perform best.
***UNLESS you have hardware v 004 and then supposedly if you will run into camera issues.
So, IF you're using a 3.70.xxx.x based rom, wait until the dev's get the source for the new kernel series and mod them up for you.
Thats a great idea for a app.

My fault. Sorry. I'm running that CM7 19 VERSION. I am using the red theme from the market. I can't use juice defender simply cause it doesn't support gingerbread yet. I'm using 60676 prl. Can't even find the pri but I'm assuming it's still 1.77 unless cm came with 1.9.
Flashed it 24 hours ago. Haven't switched kernals cause I have had horrible experience with anything other than stock with myn's. I reinstalled all my apps and kik messenger is on lockdown with autostarts. So therefore it doesn't eat up partial wake time and doesn't open unless I do it manually.

Stock, until you get those issues ironed out. "Stock" sounds lame, but CM7s kernel is far from stock
After that, I use savaged-zen with much success. Though everyone will tell you that kernels behave differently with different phones. Spend a week trying a few for like 2 days at a time and see which one you like the most Also, play with the governor settings (under settings/cyanogenmod settings/performance). I personally use the SZ kernel with the "interactive" governor and find it to be the best balance between speed and battery life.
Interactive all the way man!! DATS DA BEST!

I recommend AOKP or CM9. Both are AOSP based with AOKP being closer to pure Android 4.0. That said, it helps to just try out what is available and see what works for you.

Is stock ROM official ICS update or GB?
I got this phone 2 months and bounced around between Darkside, stock ICS rooted, and AOKP. I've flashed Eugene's streamlined kernel to AOKP. And I think that's where I'm staying. I love the ui changes and inbuilt cpu control. And with Groove IP I can do without native wifi calling. My advice is to try them each for a few days, even ones I didn't mention like cm9, and decide what fits your needs.

That's because 0623-03 IS Build 39, assuming you are referring to Whitehawkx's AOKP. Hercules is officially supported by Team Kang now, so you can get Build 40 from here:

I'm using Darkside TLLE4.V1 and the 3.0.8-perf-T989DTTLE4-CL579656 kernel. Way good. One question though: I come the cpu is not overclockable over 1.5 ? I thought this kernel was open to overclocking, I would like to boost it up to 1.8. Any ideas?

it looks like there are a bunch of darkside roms/kernels. which one are you using?
This may have been addressed before but for some reason I can not find an answer. I have tried AOKP and CM9 and I am having problems with the external SD card not being recognized by several apps (beyondpod is the main one). There is a setting for using the external only but then most of my games (EA titles) will not open. Is there anything that can be done? I am currently using Chicago rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1602332 and it seems to work correctly but I would like to start using the CM9 nightly builds. Thanks in advance.
Just wondering if there is a stable Jellybean ROM for Epic 4G? I would like to use one as a daily driver.

As of when I used it, it wasn't 100% stable. I think for now, you need to stick with CM9/7 or whatever you like. CM10 still has a bit to go to be a daily driver for everybody (some people are happy with it now, but many are waiting).

I wasn't referring to voodoo color I meant voodoo sound, I paid for the voodoo sound plus app and it's suppose to inject the code which make voodoo sound work for whatever Rom without the need of a required kernel.
And to answer your question about flashing the nexus modem, you don't just flash it it require a patch for the modem to be flashed.
There are two threads in the Development section that will guide to flashing not only the nexus modem, but any modem you want.

I advise you to make a backup, wipe the usual data and such. CM10 does something with MTD I can't recall, so wiping data would be in your best interest. And don't be alarmed while flashing CM10 your phone reboots and you get stuck on the Cyanogen screen. Wait a minute or so, remove battery put it back in and go back to recovery wipe data again and reflash CM10. Make sure you have JB GAPPS too flash right after you flash CM10.

People wrote about SOD on the page too
Honestly, it's a hit or miss, mine is completely stable..so are some others. While others aren't. Don't know what the difference is but I'm starting to think that the devices are different in the inside. Maybe different manufacturers on certain parts? Who knows. So just try it out. The rr and sod is clearly present, so if that happens try another Rom

To avoid/minimize SOD's and RR's, don't forget to set governor to interactive and scheduler to deadline.
I've had the S2X since it came out. I'm running Dougshell's 10/10 build and haven't experienced a single SOD or RR. This is the first AOKP jb build I've used that doesn't have those issues. Solid daily driver.
