Sense browser on CM7? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

is it possible? because even though the stock 2.3 browser is good it isn't as smooth as the sense browser when zooming in or out and navigation.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App

They are actually the exact same browser, the Sense browser is just skinned to match the sense theme.
You should give Opera 11 Mobile a try, it's the fastest, smoothest browser I've ever used on Android.

Dolphin Browser is also a top choice for many people. I use it daily, it's awesome and very fast.

But I still like the stock browser best. I've tried all those browsers.

SENSE UI or NO SENSE?

I have been using sense ui virt rom.
I loved it but noticed a bit of lost of speed when I flashed cyanogen v7.
Cyanogen was really fast for me compared to virt. rom.
What do u guys prefer?
Idk which one I shud stick too.

I wud prefer cyanogen too but the video app can't touch focus.
And I use video a lot...

Well sense is slower due to the fact its "packed". Well I really like sense, it looks really good. Love the wigets the most but I like cyan more because.... umm I just like it better lol.

Sense widgets aren't as fast, but I do love the Sense clock app, the Sense clock widget, contacts widget and photo gallery widget.
the calendar widget is very laggy compared to Launcher Pro, and the actual dock/launcher bar at the bottom is a very wasteful way to use precious screen real estate. I mean - who really needs such a large button for the phone?
Launcher Pro/ADW Ex and other launchers make it really easy to save screen space by having scrollable launcher/docks...but with Sense it just wastes space.
I am using a GingerVillain ROM with ADW Ex and it works pretty well. But I am missing some of those Sense apps/widgets!
cyanogenmod is faster ,has better battery life, its more up to date and is more customizable.
sense/virtouos has much better apps and widgets such as camera,contacts,keyboard,phone,etc...
it really comes down to personal preferences.
I personally have set them both exactly the way i like and installed all the
apps that i need on them and made a back up so i regulary change between
them whenever i feel like it.
I can't believe I'm saying this but I like Sense better now than Vanilla. I have been using the vanilla for a long time now and then tried switching to sense a week ago and I love it.
I'm not a fan of the sense homescreen though but I love the camera app, phone app, gallery, and the minor quirks you get with it.
The only downside though is that IMO it drains twice as fast as stock.

Is there a camera app like sense on the market? I'm missing the touch to focus.

Sense, no question. The superior camera, music, and contacts apps are a no-brainer, IMO. I don't use the Sense launcher, though - LauncherPro for me. I tried Cm7 and honestly didn't see that big of a difference. I get 12-15hours of moderate use with Virtuous v1.0, which is the best Sense ROM out there.

What do u think about the speed on virtuous vs cyonagen
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
CM is definitely faster, mainly because its built for that, specifically. Sense is built to give a better user experience. Apples and Oranges. With the stock Virtuous kernel, I don't notice a significant speed difference vs CM.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Without sense. No question.
From my permarooted overclocked HTC G2 with cyanogen 7 nightly via XDA app
Is there any way to get the alarm clock to put a notification in the notification bar on the Sense UI like it does in the Vanilla ROMs? Everytime I hit snooze I wonder if I hit the right button. I'm currently using Virtuous v1.0.0 for the G2/DZ.
I like the sense over the "vanilla" the G2 came with. I've been using virtuous since the day it came out and have loved it. I haven't used CM but I' am comfortable with sense
i currently use MIUI but i loved sense when i used it the only thing i didint like was that you couldnt get it to not autocap , i know it sounds stupid but its really one of my pet pev's , i switch back and forth from now & again but does anyone know how to make it so it doesent autocap on sense virtu rom ?

[Q] Stock gingerbread launcher.

Please tell me why people like it? It has 3 non changable icons that stay one color and looks like its out of place compared to the rest of a home screen setup.
Just wondering whats so great about it? Am i missing something?

different strokes for different folks.
It gives more of a stock feeling than ADW. And the trashcan is on the bottom dock, the only reasons I used it, then I moved to ADW for honeybread
Sent from my HTC Vision
I actually think it looks a bit better than adw. It gives more of a clean look.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Because the app drawer is the best app drawer of all of them! Especially with a phone with good graphics!
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
Isn't the same effect app drawer available on adw and lppro?
Sent from prison
Well gb launcher2 is just so much smoother then adw or lp. Home screen scrolling is buttery smooth, and the transition for opening the app drawer is much nicer then the other two. The app drawer cube effect shows 5 rows in the fold compared to the others. Now that I can use themes in CM7 without adw, I use it.
And in the stock launcher the apps in the drawer "bounce" much smoother than LP, not as laggy
I believe i read somewhere on here that the stock launcher is hardware accelerated. That is why is runs faster and smoother.
I personally prefer anything stock. Stock apps seem, to me at least, to be smaller and faster. Try to keep the fluff to a minimum.
I love stock anything! My Nexus One made me love the 3D app drawer, and on my G2, its only smoother! I can't wait to see how smooth a stock dual core Android 2.4 phone from Google is gonna be! The G2x is a good example, however it will be froyo, meaning not fully dual core compatible like 2.4 will be! My guess....Nexus X by Motorola! I can wish, can't I??

I just love that stock vanilla google experience...same when ICS, Jellybean drop...ill stick to stock...no overlays or launchers for me...BTW is there a zip I can flash for the gingerbread launcher over adw in CM7..? (There was one for NS)
Edit: I know there's a couple in the market but those aren't as smooth as the ones in NS Development...

Hey,
I really didn't have to do anything but flash it. I flashed this over the ILWT cm7 rom and it just worked right out of the box (on 187b as well as 204).
I wouldn't know how to improve the performance of the launcher, except for common guesses such as reflashing/wiping and such.
Maybe it's just a different understanding of what "working really well" means. I never did get it to work perfectly buttery smooth, a very tiny lag always remained (even though it was running a lot better than adw).

Animated gifs on midnight v5 rom

Does anyylone on this latest rom have animated gifs working in the browser? They worked when I had bonsai 4.0....

Just tried and it did not work in the default browser; trying dolphin hd. That didn't work either.
Thanks, just confirming. Must be something different between midnight and bonsai somewhere

The only browser I know of that runs animated gif is FIREFOX
Only reason I need to see animated gif is for my local weather radar
One thing though, that animation don't work in landscape mode just portrait.
I can even see my animated gif Sig in Firefox browser.
Anyways it would be nice if someone had that feature on a rom
Very cool, im almost certain bonsai has it working but I feel like my battery isn't lasting as long on it. Seeing as their both ec05 based I don't know why their not the same. Lol seems like a small problem but it bugs me.

Stock browser pinch to zoom much smoother

Hi guys, why is the stock browser so much smoother when it comes to pinch to zoom compared to Dolphin HD browser? Are there any special tweaks that i can make it smoother within Dolphin's browser?
thanks guys!

That's GPU rendering taking effect I guess.

Thanks my friend! So the browsing on the stock browser does have a better experience after all Anyone have other recommendations?

its the hardware acceleration
from what i understand the GUI is also hardware accelerated
NO lag at all
just like the IOS and WP7 which from what i understand is also hardware accelerated
android should have been like this in the beginning what was Google thinking !
man and all this time I was using dolphin browser cos i got use to it so much on my HD2!
NOW how do i import those bookmarks to the default browser?

Try boat browser. Its as smooth as the built-in browser
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Just tried Boat Mini Browser my friend. Same as the others. Not as smooth as default browser when it comes to pinch and zoom. I am real picky abouy that as if try to do it with any other browser, it feels jaggedly like it is eratic or out of control. It is alittle better with 2 hands but definitely alot worse with 1 hand. Just compare the differences when you open up the same page with the default browser and any other...wish there were some tweaks for these alternative browsers.

I find boat mini to be just as smooth as stock, love it.3
It's GPU Acceleration, the UI elements are converted into textures which the GPU handles well. Same method Apple uses for it's UI rendering.
That is why the SGS2 feels so much more smoother than other android phones, not the processor.

You should try Opera Mobile. Very smooth and reflows text at any zoom level.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Tried almost all mentioned: Opera, Firefox, Boat, Dolphin HD & Mini, Miren...all about the same but nothing came close to the default browser. I think that Opera Mini was smoothest out of all the others. Remember this is about pinch to zoom, and not about scrolling and other browsing features.

That´s not true... your´e right with the other ones but opera mobile is as well hardware accelerated.
yes but, on dolphin as u zoom in the text is always readable and on the stock pinch zoom is smooth but if you zoom in a lot you have to actually pick your finger up so that the text is readable
i'd rather have an always readable text than smooth zoom with which I have to release my finger every time to see if the text is fine to read
Absolutely no way is opera mobile pinch to zoom is as smooth as the stock browser. I don't care if it is hardware accelerated or not. I thought it wasn't even as smooth as Dolphin HD. Tested that just now although there are tons of other features.

Absolutely.
The Stock browser is a lonely competitor of itself. Nothing can come close. I tried D-HD, Mozilla, Opera, D-HD is good, Opera is average or below and Mozilla is pathetic.

+1 for Zeam. Been stuck on that since Bonsai 4.0. Got my girl to switch because ADW was slowing her phone down and screwing up with the dock disappearing.
I've only ever used TW launcher and Go Launcher. I'm a big fan of Go Launcher.

LauncherPro is awesome, even though it hasn't been updated in a year. I've tried Go a few times but it always seems to get cranky and sluggish after a few hours of use. To me it seems like Go is an unfinished project.
i always used launcherpro up until i started running CM9.. Trebuchet works well enough. Been meaning to play with some of the other ICS launchers, just been lazy.
I was using ics launcher and loved it till I started running cm9

+1 for launcher pro. Used on stock and still using it on CM7. Love the widgets for it as well. It hasn't been updated in a year because it doesn't need to be IMO.
Nova. Oh right, Gingerbread. Damn outdated software :-\ .
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
my ranking system:
1.)Zeam ---> (incredibly fast, smooth scrolling, laggy app drawer scrolling on gingerbread (not on ICS), stable.) Very light memory usage.
2.)Launcher Pro---> (Amazing desktop scrolling smoothness, very smooth app drawer scrolling, some weird bugs, stable) Moderate memory usage.
3.)Go Launcher--->(Less smooth than Launcher pro, little bugs, very stable) Medium memory usage.
4.)ADW--->(Laggy scrolling, very fast, weird bugs, stable) Light memory usage.
keep in mind every phone is different and every experience will vary based on ROM/Kernel combinations, however, these are the launchers that have worked best for me. I still stand by zeam even though its ancient, still the best launcher I have used to date. In <3 with it. Zeam is extremely light on RAM consumption and is incredibly fast.... most people dont notice the difference, but my picky ass does.
I've been running Go with CM9...I just love the folders in the app drawer, makes it so nice clean and neat. But on my Acer A100, I run ADW Ex...to me, it just seem to run a little better on the tab. Besides, there alot more screen real estate there...heh
I went through a nemus launcher phas for a while. It has really cool folders/grouping and is generally snappy.
