Can't flash GApps? - myTouch 3G Slide Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't get the GAPPS to stick after flashing. I've tried with System/Data both mounted, unmounted, and I've tried wiping dalvik and cache. I'm still not getting them to work. This phone is driving me insane. Why must everything be so difficult on it?
Oh. And. I messed up and erased my Clockwork, so I'm back to using the update.zip method. Is there an easy way to flash CWM back to NAND?
CM7, everything else stock. Rooted/S-Off

how did you erase CWM did you do a fastboot flash of another recovery? if you can find a recovery.img for the slide you can fastboot flash it ...

[Q] Having BIG problem, need help!

Okay, so earlier today I rooted my evo and flashed the CM6 ROM. A little later I tried to install Google apps.
I followed a tutorial on youtube on how to install gapps using rom manager.
Now my Evo is stuck in the Clockworkmod recovery screen and when I click reboot system now it reboots and goes back to the clockworkmod screen. I tried wiping data/factory reset and then re-installing the CM6 ROM, it did not work.
I really need some help here, I'm not too experienced and I don't want to brick my Evo. How do i fix this?? I am freaking out. Thank you!
I use AmonRA recovery personally and flash everything through recovery. I had too many problems when I tried flashing things through Rom Manager app. Do you have a nandroid backup? If so install the backup and then boot into recovery and reinstall CM6 and gapps back to back in the same recovery session. If no backup, download PC36IMG that corresponds with your hboot version and put it on the root of your sd card. Boot into bootloader by holding volume down and power at the same time. It will scan the sd card for PC36IMG and then verify it. It will then ask you if you want to update. Select yes and let it do its thing and then when it asks if you want to reboot select yes. This will put you back to stock and may unroot, so you may have to do the root procedure again. Then install CM6 and gapps in same recovery session.
Before all this try wiping cache and davlick cache and reboot. If that doesn't work try powering off phone through clockwork and then boot into bootloader. It will scan for PC36IMG and not find it then you will have options to boot into different things. Select recovery, and it will boot into Clockwork. Wipe cache and davlick cache and reboot. See if this works. If not you will have to nandroid or go back to stock probably unless someone that has had this problem and comes along to help you fix it. Always wipe cache and davlick when installing something new like gapps or kernels and full wipe when installing a new Rom, unless you are updating a Rom then just Davlick and Cache.
As long as the phone turns on it is not bricked.

If you are having issues getting the img on your SD card, if you have a card reader handy just use that to transfer it over

I did find the correct one for my hboot version, but another question I have is do I need to flash unrevoked-forever-son.zip since I rooted using unrevoked 3.32? Or do I just put the PC36IMG on the sd card and flash it? Thanks.
Okay, I seem to have gotten it back to stock. Thank god, thought I lost my evo for a minute! Thanks to those who helped me out, its 4:45 in the morning and now I can finally go to bed! ;]
LOL glad ya got it back.. Yeah thats where I was heading before I seen your post..Its 5:46 am and Im not sure how many Evo people are actually on at this time so...anyway nite
I stayed on to help as long as I could, but had to go to work. Sorry I couldn't be here to help with more questions. Funny I was just getting up for work and you guys were just going to bed.
Glad you got it fixed for now. Remember to flash CM6 from recovery and not Rom Manager. Also, flash Gapps from recovery and not Rom Manager app. Flash CM then gapps and reboot. Make sure you do a full wipe first though. You could also look for Calkulin's tools thread in Dev section of EVO forum and find his wipe all zip. You just flash it like any other zip but it formats data, cache, boot and system partitions so that when you flash a new ROM nothing is left over from old one. Good luck my friend and happy flashing.
PS. I don't think the stock rom would give you s-on since you already had s-off, so you should be good to go. I could be wrong, but as long as you still have a custom recovery and s-off you should be good to flash any Rom.
evo camera
ok i have a root evo but my camara dosent work ... can some body help me to fx that problem
What rom are you using? Do they list camera issues or camera not working in the initial post with the rom?
Camera
Lets talk about the camera not working here:

[Q] Recovery Boot Loop

After I install CWM Touch v5.8.1.3 and go into recovery... I get a recovery bootloop... CWM freezes. Then I must reboot and re-flash CWM v5.0.2.7 to get things back to normal. Anyone had this problem? How can I get CWM Touch v5.8.1.3 to install properly?

Alright, I used odin to flash it and it works with no problem for me. Sorry it's not working for you
Correct procedure for flash CWM and any GB ROM
You should never flash cwm from a previous version, you have to do is flash the new version with Odin, is the best and clean method.
Remember to do all wipes, wipe factory, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvic cache, and flash the darkside wipe tool or in mount and storage option format cache, format system and for a more clean installation format mmc (this option format your internal memory, not your Micro SD Card)

Issues getting into CWM

So I was on CM9 and decided to flash CM10, and yes I wiped data cache and dalvik. After the flash I just go into a boot loop half way through the boot animation, and I am unable to get into CWM.
Does anyone have any alternative ways to get into CWM or even get it so I can adb in and throw CWM back on the right partition?
At this point I am thinking that I just need to restore stock with ODIN and get CWM back on and try the flash again.
Does anyone have any other ideas that they might throw my way?

[Q] Need help, i can only access twrp recovery mode

I was advised that i needed to update my recovery to twrp from cwm recovery to avoid an issue i got while flashing roms (the contents of my sd card would get pushed down into a subfolder of a newly created set of folders) however when i wiped my phone, as i always used to do with CWM twrp seems to have wiped a lot more, its wiped the existing rom, and all the files on my card, so i cant install a new rom. Basically i only have access to twrp recovery mode, how can i get the rom .zips onto my phone to install them? Id really appreciate any help at all, i had no issues flashing with CWM and i really dont know what to do.
download a rom/gapps and use adb to transfer them to your sdcard.. adb command "adb push file.zip /sdcard/file.zip"..
PS- in twrp wiping data wipes EVERYTHING so when you want to wipe before flashing a rom do a factory reset and DONT wipe data

Issues flashing ROM

I'm having some issues flashing any ROM. TWRP will not wipe data, or internal SD
For some reason, when I go to wipe data and factory reset, TWRP will say it was successful, but nothing ever gets wiped. It will only wipe system if I choose to. I've gotten a ROM to flash but when it boots up, all of the old apps and user data are still there and it makes everything crash. I've gotten into settings to do a reset, it reboots into recovery, runs the script, and still nothing wipes.
What I have tried:
Old TWRP, newest TWRP
CWM (seems to wipe but it won't get past the note 2 screen after flashing anything)
Wiping with CWM, flashing TWRP, then flashing a ROM (still loops after the note 2 screen)
Is there a terminal command I can use in TWRP to manually wipe things?
Thanks for any help I can get, I've flashed so many phones I can't remember but I've never had this issue
Maybe flash back to a stock ROM, factory wipe using stock recovery, then flash TWRP?

Well when it bootloops t the Note 2 screen, I have to flash a ROM with Odin to get it working again. I've flashed a stock ROM with Odin, flashed TWRP with Odin, tried the wipes and it never wipes anything... I'm lost...
Isn't there a format function in TWRP that is seperate from the factory reset or advanced wipes? I was also trying to find a terminal command to type in the terminal in TWRP... I'm a little stumped...
I'm sorry, I read that too fast... That may actually work, wipe it in the stock recovery, and just don't let it boot into the system before flashing other stuff... I'm gonna try that out... Thanks man, I'll post back about it...
Since you are flashing the phone with Odin, is it a stock 4.1.1 ROM you're flashing? Which custom ROM are you flashing to the phone?

The stock ROM I used is I317-ODIN-UCUCNJ1-Stock without the booloader packaged in, I'm still on the old bootloader. It's 4.4.2
The ROMS I've tried to flash was
Cyanide (Error 7, says incompatible data, please wipe the phone)
Resurrection Remix (Error 7, says incompatible data, please wipe the phone)
Latest CM10 Nightly
I got CM10 and Resurrection Remix to flash a couple times, but the phone boots and all the old apps and data, including the AT&T ones are still there, and the system keeps crashing. Then I change the recovery to CWM because it seems to wipe, change back to TWRP, flash the ROM and gapps again, but it bootloops at the Note 2 screen.
Should I try the 4.1.1 ROM and CWM? Whenever I'm going from a stock TW to non-TW I like to format everything, data, cache, system, and internal SD, but of course TWRP won't wipe the data or the internal SD.
It's probably because the bootloader and modem are too old for the roms. Recent roms will need updated bootloaders.
Ok, I had some more time to mess around with this today and figured it out. I feel kind of dumb but oh well, I got it.
TWRP was already loaded on, so I went to messing with it again. The 'Swipe to factory reset' was not wiping the data, and there was the 'Format Data' button right there in front of me. I did the factory reset, format data, rebooted recovery, wiped dalvik, cache, and system, then flashed the ROM and everything booted up just fine.
Thanks for all of the help!
