[Q] Disabling the screen orienation from going to upsidedown-landscape. - G2 and Desire Z Themes and Apps

Hi guys. Well here's the deal. I used to have the very app for this, but deleted it while ago so need to find it again. Basically, I want the screen orienation to change when I tilt the phone, but only to normal landscape. I do NOT want the phone to going into the upside down landscape because I NEVER use it that way and it sometimes switches to that side which delays me and such so it gets annoying. How can I prevent the phone from switching to the other side of landscape, but it be able to go into landscape? I tried Tasker, but that didn't work too well.
thanks for the help guys!
P.S. I am rooted and have CM7

its either in cm settings or spare parts.

I couldn't find it :/

Cyanogenmod settings, display, rotate 180
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App

That's not what he's talking about. He's talking about the opposite of land so 260?

LOL, basically when I enable auto-rotate, I only want the screen to switch to portrait and landscape. I don't want it to switch upside-down, or to the other side of landscape.
When you enable auto-rotate, the screen can rotate in 3 diff positions. I only want it to be able to switch into 2.

The App you are looking for is called "Rotation Control" created by rpor.

This is great, I also did not like the 3rd rotation like the OP, but it never bothered me enough to complain about it.
The app suggested works GREAT. Thank you for this little quiet gem!

no its not on all versions of android at all. if you tilt your phone to the right it goes into landscape. mine did not do that on my g1 but does on my desire z. only if you tilt the phone to the left would it go landscape.

Detailed HTC Touch Pro2 review

Hi guys,
Here's a detailed review about the HTC Touch Pro2.
It's in Dutch, but even if you can't read it (or perhaps use Google Translator) you'll enjoy looking at the pics.
There are three demo videos showing the interface and multimedia, and the proof that the AC T110 TV out cable will work (the original Touch Pro cable).
Link to the review.
Awesome! Thanks for the tip!
heres the link for the englis translation via google

Thanks great review!
pretty good review. Handles almost 90% of the things I wan't to know about the phone
informative review...keep them coming!
hey, check out this video in case you want to see the sprint mogul vs the TP2:

Radio or not, man, I want this phone and I will go buy it if it's available tomorrow. So fast and smooth. Sounds great too! I can do without the radio.
2 questions....
1. In that review, it said it comes with ultra clear screen protector. do you really think it will come with one or will i have to buy one separately?
2. Question about the accelerometer. when you pull the keyboard out the screen switches to landscape mode. Do you think if you just turn the phone sideways that the screen will turn to landscape mode (with the keyboard closed)????

1. Yes for sure. All my HTC phones came with screen protectors.
2. No, you will need a tweak to switch the home screen to landscape mode by turning the phone. Some software will work by turning the phone but not the home screen.
That's stupid that they advertise it has a accelerometer since you have to open the keyboard to switch to landscape mode. i bought the htc tilt when it first came out for at&t and I'm pretty sure that it didn't come with a screen protector. You said all your htc phones did? Did you buy the tilt?

Huh? what do you mean? In what way would landscape mode be USEFUL with the keyboard not open? I don't understand. In the browser, with the keyboard closed, you should be able to rotate the phone and the screen will rotate...also with photos, and anything else you need to do in landscape...but a landscape switch for TouchFlo3D without the keyboard out is kinda pointless, no?
I don't mean to start a massive fight about it, but I don't want my phone rotating touch flo like crazy just because I am holding the phone a certain way. What if I am gesturing towards something with the TouchPro2 in my hand and when I bring my hand back, everything is all landscape and I have to wait for it to rotate back?
I don't think this is dumb, and I feel it can easily be fixed with just a software tweak. Shouldn't be hard at all...although I do not understand what you would need it for.

No...Your idea is more stupid. like NeoDMD said, I dont want my home screen rotating everytime I move. It is useful for certain applications but definitely not the home screen.!
hopefully the transition between home screen and landscape mode is very fast, hopefully no load time
so like some applications will take you into landscape mode even if you have the keyboard closed like it you played a video or went into camera mode right or even internet browser?

Nope. I don't have the TILT, but my P3600i and HD came with one. I know the TD2, Cruise and Cruise 2 also comes with one. So I presume most of them will. Maybe they didn't give it to you or it was stolen from your box
BTW, I saw the video on the TV-Out part and there was some flickering near the end of the movie where they were using coreplayer. Does anyone know what he is talking about and why it is flickering like mad?
Many thanks!

I believe the point would be to be able read it comfortably while holding it in landscape. Why would I need the keyboard open to use TF3d? And why wouldn't I want to use TF3D in landscape mode? I'm going to be reading, watching vids, and browsing in landscape mode. Do I have to rotate back to portrait every single time I go back into TF3D?

Isn't that still a problem for other apps? Like the browser etc. If you're willing to accept the problem there, what's so crazy about someone else being willing to risk it everywhere?

Honestly what'd I like more than accelerometer detection is the ability to fix everything in landscape (although I could stand the phone app being in portrait) permanently. Portrait is next to useless to me. I'm new to winmo, but do you think someone will/has tweak(ed) it that way? Or is there a control panel setting?
I am too a bit disappointed that the homescreen landscape choice isn't there from the factory (without the kb open)
How do we use this phone in the car in a holder while using it also as an GPS device. I would have to use a holder that can hold it kb out or then i'd need a rotating holder to flip it every time i go out of the GPS. Not a big pain, but still.
How about a button (on the screen) to make it flip to landscape (similar to the one that triggers the phone when the kb is open)

Froyo Rotating Wrong Way

Hi all,
Im using Froyo on my Kaiser, ive tried using the different panels.
I have been using Myns Warm Donut with panel 3 and it was ok, but not using Froyo its playing up.
Using Froyo, when I slide my keyboard out it rotates right 90 degrees correctly, but when i slide it back in, it rotates it 180 degrees?
Help? lol
Thanks,

Yes that worked thanks very much.
Thanks akmalxxx for the tip
Sometimes someone asks a question like this, I often wonder if it would not just be simpler to unset that option in build, rather than relying on the user to know how to do this in advance, ( don't even know if it's possible ?).
Yes a lot of us 'old hands' do this almost automatically after installing a build, along with other settings we have come to prefer.
But the screen orientation one really catches a lot of newer users out.

[Q] Stop Game Pad From Unlocking Screen

Well I have been looking around but havent found this anywhere...is there a way to stop the screen from unlocking when the gamepad slides out. Its getting really annoying when the phone is in my pocket I pull it out and I have 1000 things open. Thanks.
It's funny I have the exact opposite problem. I want it to open up every time i slide out my gamepad.

I feel ya, man. I hate how sliding the pad open unlocks the phone. I have to turn it off if I'm doing something that requires a lot of movement, otherwise I take my PLAY out to find it loaded with about a dozen apps (not exaggerating). Would've been much better as a flip phone, IMHO.

exact same thing that happens to me...was building a cat thing (something like this) for my fiance the other day to find tons of stuff open and lots of settings changed...was not a very nice surprise lol. I agree a flip phone would of been better.

There should be an option to "Launch Xperia Play by sliding phone" or something like that in the Xperia Play Launcher Settings.
You can also install a custom lockscreen from the Play Store that allows Landscape orientation, i.e. WidgetLocker (Not free) or some other one.
Sorry, I don't much about modding system files.

Touch input offset in some apps

Hi guys,
I noticed a decent vertical offset with all my touch inputs. Whenever I press the screen, it recognizes the touch event about 1cm below the actual input I made.
The weird thing is that this happens only in certain apps, speaking of chrome for example.
Furthermore the hover point of my spen is in the right position, but as soon as I touch the screen, it's too low. Very annoying when pressing links in chrome..
Anyone experiencing the same issue? I'm running the latest firmware bmf2 with my n5100
Ps: you can check it by hovering over the screen, pressing the spen button and then drawing a line..
Edit: this example seems to work only with gmd spen control enabled. Nevertheless the described issue is still present when using chrome and spen control disabled...
Edit:
Possible workarounds:
- flip to landscape and back
- use chrome in multi window mode
I can confirm I have the same problem I thought it was just me lol.

Found out a strange thing:
If I start chrome in multi window mode (using alternate window mode) it seems to work just fine. Does this work for you, too?
At least it seems to be a software issue.. probably fixable (hopefully )
It's the same for me too. Only in Chrome and sometimes the top part of the page is hidden under the address bar.
I think is software related.

I had this problem also but only in Chrome. Finally gave up and went to Opera. So far zero problems. I recommend you try that.
Same here. I hope an update will come soon.

Have you posted it to Samsung's pages? If so, got a link? I'd like to help push getting this fixed. Thanks.
This is a known problem in Chrome:
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!msg/chrome/AL-j4HFZOEc/pHxtMmIaa6AJ
As you note, you can easily fix the offset by switching to landscape mode and back. I'm am curious, though, which other apps you've observed this problem with. The only app I've had a problem with is Chrome.

And gmd spen control. If you activate it (try lite version) and draw a line with spen button pushed, you will notice exactly the same offset. Imo it's the same issue, though I have no idea what should cause it for only a few apps and not for others as well..

Nope, still present. But didn't play much with it since I prefer gesture control. Haven't reported it to the developer either..
https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=260804
Please star the issue, unless one of us has some epic insight on how to fix it.
Seems from the comments on the bug that a fix will be coming in Chrome 29, whenever that gets rolled out. Those running Chrome Beta should see it sometime next week.

Question Pleased with myself - different launchers on the two screens

Been a while since I tinkered and so with some trepidation I thought I'd try the switching between different launchers using Tasker.
After some swearing I managed to get it working using the guide HERE

Thanks, man! How well does it work for you?

Thanks for the tip. I got it going too. Now I remember why I hated it. I had some fun with it for a bit though. Definitely not efficient but without hex or root. It was a nostalgic trip back to 2010
Can't seem to get it to work. Just a question, once i set it up i get [ No active profiles (3 of 3 enable) ] on the notification panel for the tasker. Is it supposed to be like this or the profile should be active for it to work?

Sorry, I didn't get it. Can you please elaborate.
state > sensors > any sensor > hinge angle
That's awesome. I bought Tasker like a year ago. Everytime I download it I open it, get frustrated, then uninstall it, lol.
I think I love niagra though. It's so minimal on that big screen i think it would be better to just create a one page widget than run two launchers. That side animation was on one preset years ago. I sent my phone to safe mode play with stuff using adb today still have no idea what I did that prompted it.
@jemfalor Sorry I am a noob to the tasker. Where do I select hinge angel in the any sense?
under type, press magnifying glass
@jemfalor thanks for the help mate but it is not working for me. I will pass into it until someone post a detailed video as I have done everything right which Is mentioned in the guide but still no luck.
it is working. just learn to figure things out. change interval type to sample,
Works, but it's glitchy. Sometimes the stock home screen returns until I press the home key. When the device is unfolded and the main screen is visible, pressing the home button causes Nova Launcher to reload, which is pretty annoying. Worst of all, after configuring this, the keyboard keeps reverting back to the Samsung keyboard instead of Gboard, and sometimes the keyboard refuses to pop up at all. Time to undo this damage.

Pretty instantaneous I find, and if the wrong launcher shows, (although this is rare) a swipe up reverts the screen to the correct one.

The Bixby Routines version works well for me.
Now.... If there was only a way to have two instances of Nova Launcher running on the device at the same time, I could have version one layout on the cover screen and version two layout on the inner screen.
Anyone any ideas?

Maybe you can help sorry for bothering you. Everything seems to be setup except when folded or unfolded I have to hit the home button manually for the launcher to change. Do you happen to know how I can fix this?.
