[Q] Disabling the screen orienation from going to upsidedown-landscape.

Hi guys. Well here's the deal. I used to have the very app for this, but deleted it while ago so need to find it again. Basically, I want the screen orienation to change when I tilt the phone, but only to normal landscape. I do NOT want the phone to going into the upside down landscape because I NEVER use it that way and it sometimes switches to that side which delays me and such so it gets annoying. How can I prevent the phone from switching to the other side of landscape, but it be able to go into landscape? I tried Tasker, but that didn't work too well.

That's not what he's talking about. He's talking about the opposite of land so 260?

LOL, basically when I enable auto-rotate, I only want the screen to switch to portrait and landscape. I don't want it to switch upside-down, or to the other side of landscape.
When you enable auto-rotate, the screen can rotate in 3 diff positions. I only want it to be able to switch into 2.

This is great, I also did not like the 3rd rotation like the OP, but it never bothered me enough to complain about it.
The app suggested works GREAT. Thank you for this little quiet gem!

no its not on all versions of android at all. if you tilt your phone to the right it goes into landscape. mine did not do that on my g1 but does on my desire z. only if you tilt the phone to the left would it go landscape.

(APP) LMT launcher

Just tried LMT Launcher which works really well alongside the ones sense 5 launcher, it adds a lot of functionality which just works so well once your used to it and you set apps that you'll like.

for me to get it to work properly here the settings i activated, everything else is left at stock and i'm running the newest version.
Autostart - enabled
Gesture input - No known device yet
Activation area thickness - 40
ISA 11 - checked
then all your left with is what you want to set to your short cuts.
I haven't bothered with gestures but there are so many options it's insane.
Well done to the dev who made it, working well here

I love LMT. I used it on my Hercules, and soon as I rooted, I put it on my one. I love being able to launch everything and not having to clutter up my home screen. I never ventured into anything but the pie launcher, so I can't offer any help besides there.

Is there a way to have lmt launch the app gallery? Can't seem to find that option

You have to launch it as an activity. So go to activity, gallery, then choose the main launcher one. It's the second I believe.

I'm quite new to it m8, you'd be better off asking in the thread I've mentioned.

I have been using it for a while now and have had zero hiccups at all everything works as it should.

So weird, but I can't seem to get it to work at all. I'm very familiar with the app, having used it on the last couple of phones through multiple roms. I've tried 2 different Sense roms and 2 different AOSP based, with no luck. Everything starts and stops like it should, it just won't activate when I swipe across the area. Ah well, nature of the beast, I guess. I'll keep messing with it...

YouTube app launch
I recently got my HTC One and unlocked bootloader/rooted.
Installed LMT launcher so I could get the Pie Controls - they look awesome and keep my homescreen clean.
So far so good, I've set all 10 pie segments to launch apps.
All of them work, except for YouTube.
Tried assigning it to various different pie segments but never works.
All other apps launch successfully so not sure why YouTube won't.
I've not got a high enough post count yet to post on the main LMT thread posted by the OP so hoping one of you guys might know why this is happening... Or if anyone else has YouTube launching successfully via LMT Pie Controls.

You need to launch it as an activity instead of the app. It's the second option on the YouTube activity list.

The video is recorded on a Nexus 10, but the idea is the same.

I loved using PIE/LMT on my Nexus 4. I wish we didn't have the hard nav bar on our One. That extra space looked awesome on the N4.

LMT is great on the One, especially with that huge HTC logo
The only downside is that you still need to be able to assign one of the buttons to menu to get rid of the three dot bar in apps like facebook. If you don't do that then the three dot menu bar gets in the way of LMT and you can't use from the bottom in those apps
As a little workaround on 4.2.2 to keep a long press on home for Google Now, I am using Paul's Xposed mod designed for 4.1.2 and assigning a long press of the back button to menu. Long press for menu doesn't work on 4.2.2 roms, but it still gets rid of the annoying three dot menu bar.
Another quick tip:
To get one of the pie segments to turn off the screen, use keycode 26 in Advanced Commands: Key
That saves a lot of finger acrobatics to get up to the top of the phone. Along with the volume buttons to wake this is great for anyone with small fingers

Any idea how to get the Dialer to come up? I've tried everything I can think of to no avail.

Just found it...
Assign your pie segment as 'activity'
Then go down till you find 'people'
Then down near bottom of the list look for:
People
com.android.htccontacts.dialertabactivity

Does anyone know where on earth Pie gets installed to? I've knocked up a quick replacement icon bit, for the life of me, I can't find the damned .apk

LMT Script for launching the Power Menu (shutdown/reboot)
Just an FYI for anyone with a HTC One (M7) that wants to use LMT to call up the APM (Simulate long press power button) this is the script code to use:
sendevent /dev/input/event2 1 116 1
sendevent /dev/input/event2 0 0 0
sleep 1
sendevent /dev/input/event2 1 116 0
sendevent /dev/input/event2 0 0 0
The main LMT thread has mostly Nexus and Galaxy events so it took me a little time to find this out for the One.
Hopefully this post will help anyone searching for LMT Power Menu script on the One.

If you are talking about LMT Pie it is:

Did you get anywhere getting LMT to work on your HTC one. I have tried every setting imaginable and it will not work.
My phone is rooted, I have confirmed the service is running in the background, but I can not get any pie controls or gestures to work???
Any help much appreciated.

Touch input offset in some apps

Hi guys,
I noticed a decent vertical offset with all my touch inputs. Whenever I press the screen, it recognizes the touch event about 1cm below the actual input I made.
The weird thing is that this happens only in certain apps, speaking of chrome for example.
Furthermore the hover point of my spen is in the right position, but as soon as I touch the screen, it's too low. Very annoying when pressing links in chrome..
Anyone experiencing the same issue? I'm running the latest firmware bmf2 with my n5100
Ps: you can check it by hovering over the screen, pressing the spen button and then drawing a line..
Edit: this example seems to work only with gmd spen control enabled. Nevertheless the described issue is still present when using chrome and spen control disabled...

Possible workarounds:
- flip to landscape and back
- use chrome in multi window mode

I can confirm I have the same problem I thought it was just me lol.

Found out a strange thing:
If I start chrome in multi window mode (using alternate window mode) it seems to work just fine. Does this work for you, too?
At least it seems to be a software issue.. probably fixable (hopefully )

It's the same for me too. Only in Chrome and sometimes the top part of the page is hidden under the address bar.
I think is software related.

I had this problem also but only in Chrome. Finally gave up and went to Opera. So far zero problems. I recommend you try that.

As you note, you can easily fix the offset by switching to landscape mode and back. I'm am curious, though, which other apps you've observed this problem with. The only app I've had a problem with is Chrome.

And gmd spen control. If you activate it (try lite version) and draw a line with spen button pushed, you will notice exactly the same offset. Imo it's the same issue, though I have no idea what should cause it for only a few apps and not for others as well..

Nope, still present. But didn't play much with it since I prefer gesture control. Haven't reported it to the developer either..

Please star the issue, unless one of us has some epic insight on how to fix it.

Seems from the comments on the bug that a fix will be coming in Chrome 29, whenever that gets rolled out. Those running Chrome Beta should see it sometime next week.

Motorola touchless control APK

Here's a link to check it out. Not sure if it works. If anybody wants to test out the APK, please report back with your results.

Thanks but the app is only installable on the ULTRA, MAXX, Mini, and Moto X.
it installs without problems, but doesn't appear in appdrawer, and playstore says it's incompatible with the One

I have installed the .apk, but can't start it, as it isn't present as an actual app. I think, we also need the settings app directly from the Moto X/Droid Series, in order to be able to set up the actual touchless cotrols app.

Application installed just fine on my Telus Galaxy S3 with CM10.2. Added the activities shortcut through Nova Launcher. Tried to launch each activity but it just crashed.
Rebooted and continuous errors.
There's something unique in Motorola's framework similar to TouchWiz/Sense etc. I know this is the HTC One forums, but I felt like trying it out

Maybe we can try by changing the build.prop of the phone. We did the same with Facebook Home and it seemed to work. Anyone can try this out?

are you following me from phone to phone over the years? :silly:
i've got the air gestures half working (screen on, scroll through browser etc) gonna try and get the rest working later on...
as for motorola touchless control apk it will never work without the motorola chip inside

Touchless controls is going to require a Motorola Phone. It requires a specific low-core processor that allows the phone to be constantly listening, if we kept the mic in our phones on 24/7 without Motorola's specific hardware, our battery would die in 1 hour.

here's the settings i've used, but it's very hit and miss... best way i've found is to sweep my left thumb near the charging light/mic

No luck. I give up. Had a couple of responses earlier, like opening browser when it was already opened and requesting root.

Have you guys tryd using a logcat to see what it keeps looking for before it crashes just saying then we could have a better understanding.

yep it's not the best, i'm about to delete it aswell... maybe in a few years time we'll have proper full air gestures like tom cruise in Minority Report ..hehe

I was at work and couldn't download it and play with it. I have since tried it (it failed for me too), and have done some more digging. Apparently, the Moto X has a core in it's processor made to do just this. We do not have that core. Looks like this is a lost cause...

Stop saying core! It's a DSP, noting 'core' about that. .
But yes, this is useless without that chip. There is a app on play store that does the same thing and you can even set the wake phrase ('Jarvis!'). Haven't tried it so I cannot comment on battery, but I'm sure it uses quite a bit.

Nexus 5
Is this going to be able to work with the nexus 5 because is has the same snapdragon 800 or will it still struggle? So disappointed the nexus 5 doesn't feature some of the moto x impressive features like touchless control and amazing battery. Otherwise it is a great phone!

Didn't anybody tell you? We're obliged to mess around with our phones, edit build.props, you know, stuff that could render our devices as, well.....paperweights really, just so the op can laugh at our expense.
How about OP, you install on your device, if it doesn't work....bad times, if it does work, post a solution. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

swipe sensitivity

anyone have difficulty with the swipe up to unlock or answer calls or with the swipe to side to dismiss a notification?
i have to be excessively unnatural about my swipes for these things to work but not for anything else.
swipe up in nova for app drawer works very well/easy. swiping through pics is no problem. scrolling text or web is fine. it's just the couple specific afore mentioned actions that don't work well at all.
any ideas? thanks!

it'd be great if you could adjust the sensitivity of those particular features.

Are you on the stock kernel? Switched back to Pixel launcher? Have you tried turning off window animation or changing scale under Dev ops? I'm using EX and don't have any issues atm, plus using swipe-to-sleep. :good:

no, but nova launcher is working great.
have scale set to .5, but its not the speed of transition, its the swipe sensitivity.

YES. I'M HAVING THE SAME ISSUE and it's driving me nuts!
Swiping up/down while browsing or going over social media feeds is just PAINFUL. I get tons of stutters (not performance stutters, touch registration stutters) and unnatural swipe feel.
Sometimes my scrolling would randomly register as a swipe right/left, sometimes it wouldn't register at all for a few tries and sometimes it would just feel very sluggish.
I'm running all stock 8.1 stable, phone naked, no screen protector. It's a Panda Pixel 2 XL with November 28th build date.
Did anyone report this to Google? Starting to look like a widespread issue here..

I had trouble with a swipe to unlock, as in it took me two or three tries to bring up the pin pad. I just tried the suggestion in the post that Badger50 linked and it worked beautifully. I just pulled up the pin pad about 15 times in a row with absolutely no issues. You should definitely give it a shot.

Haha! You're joking right? That forum is laughable and uses bots to spew useless links and canned responses to n00bs. It is (at best) a non-technical User forum full of whinging and moaning. No resolution will EVER come from that forum. Period.
You're waaay better off over here where some intelligent conversation and testing is going on. That, and go search for and locate this (very valid) existing issue on the Google Issue Tracker HERE and star it. @byproxy Pixel 2 XL unlock swipe up issue SOLVED: settings > accessibility > interaction controls > touch & hold delay = change from long > short. Hope this helps!
