If you're completely stock, MyBackup will back your apps up. If you're rooted, go with Titanium.

I'm currently stock, but my screen has a 1/4 of the screen with dust under it and so i want to get my warranty on it for that so i don't want to root until i get the replacement. So since i will eventually root i want to got titanium pro as I hear its better. Although i want my apps for my new phone......

Backing phone up onto SD card.

Hi, I currently have a HTC Desire and have now purchased another new HTC handset. Is there a way I can back up my current apps and data on my desire onto the SD card? I then want to put the SD card into the new handset so that it will have all my stuff.
Or is there another solution to transfer my data onto the new phone?
I don't want to have to spend ages customising my new HTC. I am very happy with my current settings and 7 home pages.
I assume you are rooted?
If yes either make a nandroid backup and restore it on the other phone or use titanium backup to backup all your apps and data and restore that on the new phone.
No not rooted. Any other way to do it?
Well titanium backup works well if rooted, but you can try even when it is not. When i was on the stock/non-rooted desire i used mybackup pro - and it backed up all my apps, tough not the data, only the installation files.

Thanks I will try those 2 apps. Im hoping it stores all my wallpaper and home page settings too.
Titanium backup does that (both) - but you have to be rooted for that.

[Q] Epic rooting questions

Okay im going to get my epic 4g today and i wanna root my phone and install a viperom along with genocide overclock kernal. I wanna do this right out of the box before i put in my contacts but if i want to switch roms i know it will wipe my phone clean. so my questions are how do i back up apps and contacts i see people mentioning titanium back up. Also is new apps available after rooting my phone? And whats the difference between roms and themes? do i need both? Last but not least i see people saying to partition my sd card why do i need to do this? if installing kernals and roms flash my phone how does this effect my sd card? i just dont wanna forget a step and mess something up. If im forget a key part please fill me in thank in advance
Your contacts will be synced with your google account so they will never be deleted.
As for your apps yes titanium backup is the best way (IMO) to backup all their data.
Yes rooting will allow you to take advantage of apps like "AdFree Android" and "SetCPU"
Roms are an entire system were as themes can be flashed over a compatible build/ROM to make your phone look the way you want it to.
you only have to partition your SD Card if you want to set up Apps2SD
which moves your apps and cache to your SD Card so you have more internal memory.

[Q] Android Revolution HD Lost Data

Hi guys i've recently rooted my phone for the first time (all worked fine) and flashed the latest Android Revolution ROM. It installed fine however it seems to have wiped my phone eg i've lost all texts, apps, contacts etc. I backed up my sd card to ROM manager before i did the root however it isn't seeing the data.
Is there any way to retrieve this data, or is it all lost?
I've read countless pages in the Android Revolution HD thread, no-one else seems to have this problem...
You would have needed to backup all your apps, texts etc with specific backup apps, such as Titanium Backup and SMS Backup & Restore.
Your contacts should be backed up onto Google's servers, and should appear when you sign your Google account back in

I'm sure he meant he did it before he flashed a new ROM
Hey guys, sorry, to clarify i backed my sd card up before i flashed the ROM. I've managed to recover most of it. And i'm actually a she, which probably explains a lot...
Most confusing is that the android market on my phone is only showing about 1/4 of the apps i've previously downloaded for some reason. So i'm having to redownload everything and it's not combining with the backed up sd card app data.

The Market is buggy and annoying like this. Go to market.android.com, log into your phone, push all the apps listed in Titanium Backup that you want to restore via the market, which will usually be under the list of applications you already bought/installed on the top right corner of the website.
From there ONLY restore data for the applications to restore the application settings and such.
pretty much you got your answer from Hunter
do not rely on market for backing up,...invest few moneys in Titanium Back up and my Back up pro , trust me , is Well invested money
and most important...now that you are rooted learn to use the recovery and always do a NANDROID backup ( this backups internal phone CARD on your SD card )
things that were on your phone and you didnt back them up on your SD card are Lost

[Q] What to make sure I backup everything

Hey all,
Could do with some advice.
I've just bought a new 32GB SD card for my play as wanting to get more into emulators and games.
At the moment got a 16GB split in 2 with Link2SD having an app partition.
So I know I need to use Linux to back up both partitions as windows only sees my data partition.
However while I'm going to do this I'm quite tempted to flash a new ROM and kernel. Thinking of doing the ICS ROM to help with testing.
But I want to make sure I don't lose anything.
I've done back ups of my apps on titanium, app backup and restore also backs ups my new instals.
I'm just a bit worried for my games such as Dead Space etc that I got free from gameloft.
If I install a new ROM will these install again? Anyone any advice to make sure I don't lose them?
Thanks everyone

[Q] Please help!!!! dont know what to doooo!

So recently i bought an SD card, normally 'moving' all my apps in SD was going into my files, touch and hold the game file i wanted to move and drop it into the EXT SD..
Once i did that, i was certain that all my apps were in the SD card but when i looked at storage they were all saved under the phones built in SD..
Apart from that.. all of a sudden it won't let me download any apps what so ever from the internet.. it comes up with an error telling me i have NO space and to delete some apps.. i have 8gb of EXT SD sace and 6gb Internal SD.. so why cant i download a 50mb app????????
I've reset the cache in clockword Mod and in the Play store... WTF is going on?
please help

Try factory reset. I've never had that issue before. I've been reading the forums and the external memory on the gs3 and note 2 among others can be tricky. There are mods that can be applied that help issues with expandable memory. Tread lightly, and carefully is the only advice I have right now

Try asking in the Omega ROM thread then. Might be something specific to that ROM. Alternatively, go back to stock.
did that as soon as i posted, but to be honest im thinking about getting rid of omega rom, i quite liked it stock but obviously rooted.. what would be the best rom for that? to have it stock but rooted and be able to remove bloat ware?

Go back to stock and add latest firmware
Root it
Use titanium backup to freeze or remove bloatware or use ROM Cleaner v1.1 AROMA
Stock, root and bloatware free :fingers-crossed:

I agree.
Also, before posting in the Q&A section, go to the rom's thread and post the issues prior to asking here. Also, Galaxy Note 2 should have about 16GB of internal storage.
And you didn't mention what brand of SD card you bought. You may need to check that product issue prior to problem, also, when you use App2Data, I would suggest you restart your phone after using App2Data. Also, you may need to check your apps' data for any extra data. Some apps may download extra data and store it on your phone without lettting you know.
i was using a Sandisk 16gb and it worked perectly fine, all these things seem to happen out of nowhere. When i tried to use apps to SD it would never shower up with movable apps so i treid moving them using MY FILES.
When i downloaded a music software on my computer the phone wouldn't show up either when plugged in.
thanks for helping tho ive waited quite a few days for help
Apps2SD doesn't work on JB, so you probably messed something up whilst trying to get it to work.
what can i use to move the apps in to the SD then?
