I just went through a series of reflashes on my Epic over the past week, going from rooted stock 2.1 Eclaire (DI07) back to stock DI18, then to EC05, midNIGHT ROM v5, now reflashed back to rooted EC05. I've kept a backup as best I could on Titanium, and have recovered everything pretty much except one thing...
VISUAL VOICEMAILS. DOES ANYONE KNOW A WAY TO TRY TO RECOVER THESE?? ANYWHERE THEY COULD BE ON MY SD CARD, TITANIUM BACKUP, ANYWHERE?? I NEED THESE FILES AND TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THEM!
ANY help is appreciated, Thanks in advance to the community at large here -
Can't you just hold the one key and call your voicemail inbox. It should be saved on there.

Hi I have a rooted stock EVO and I used root explorer to delete some bloatware from sprint and I think I accidentally deleted Sprint PCS or Sprint Zone app that allows for 3G internet. Now my phone can't go on 3G =(.
I just wanted to clarify that i deleted an apk file that doesn't allow me to connect to 3G and not like a radio right?
Also, what should I do now? Is it possible to get that file back or should I just flash either a stock rom or a custom rom to restore the 3G capability? Thank you!
Flash a stock rom first to see if you have 3G. You will most likely get it back

Restore from a nandroid backup if you made one.
If you didn't, get into the habit of doing so any time you make changes to the system.
Flash the stock rooted rom first and see if you still have 3g connectivity (you should), then you can flash whatever you want.

Thank you very much for the replies. Just wondering, my memory card is from my old EVO that had an nandroid backup (i just replaced my evo with a new one) so i was wondering if i can use that old backup to restore from?
Also, is it okay to leave multiple roms in the root of sd card or do I have to remove and add each one by one in the order I'm flashing them?

DO NOT restore a nandroid backup from another phone. Just don't. Seriously bad stuff - including losing 4g - could/would happen. Restoring user apps and data from Titanium Backup is fine, though. Restoring system stuff with TB could cause problems.
You can have as many roms as you need on your SD card, I have a few along with other flashable stuff on mine - I think most people do.

Oh wow I didn't know restoring a backup from another phone was such a bad idea. Thanks for preventing me from doing something stupid haha.
Oh one last thing...when I flash the stock rom, should it be deodexed or odexed? The thread for the stock rom has 2 different links.
My 3g went bad, I unrooted and RUU'd. Sprint store couldn't fix it, sent me a refurb.
I'm almost positive that I didn't do anything to mess it up.
Edit: Odexed or Deodexed shouldn't make a difference with what you're trying to solve. But Odexed = less system memory, and DeOdexed = themeable.
I was installing a rom last night and a thought occurred to me which led to the question, what would happen if i were to take a nandroid backup of my phone with cwm 3.1.0.1 and restore it to a different samsung epic running the same version of cwm?

I assume it would work, but it'd probably put all of your personal info on it as well. You could always try, but make sure to make a nandroid on the "other" phone, and have odin just in case.

i think if you were to make a nandroid backup after installing a new rom b4 syncing with google or anything there would b no personal info to be copied to the other phone, right? might b another option for those whose pc doesnt see their phone.... one could possibly make customized versions of roms with specific apps quickly and easily.... sorry for the random txtspeak....

Ive always heard, and followed the rule. Never restore a nandroid on a different phone.
Nor sure what would happen, but it makes sense to me how every phone is so different.
Some kernels or radios work great on my phone and suck on yours. So I feel it might jack stuff up.

PM a developer is my suggestion then, because I have no idea of the consequences, and whether they are good or bad.

I wouldn't do it because the other person can have access to your GMail, texts, contacts, private apps, etc...
Then again, one time when i had the G1, we had a 2.1 Sense ROM Port, and nobody could Flash it except for ONE person. So he Flashed it, made a Nandroid before he did anything to the ROM, and we all Restored his Nandroid to our phones. That was the only way for us to Flash the ROM until the V2, V3, etc... Vegaman was a beast tbh.
Which makes me wonder, will we ever get Ports from Sense, Sony Ericson UI, Droid X/Droid 2/Droid 3 ROMs? I think maybe after the Kernel we could start working on them. That'd be BEAST! I know some guys working on Sense, hopefully it'll work soon though with the Kernel.

It works just fine. That is how you transfer everything to a new phone when you have to get a replacement. I just had to do this.

Did this as well about 2 months ago after i had to get a replacement. worked just fine.
would work perfectly fine...
just delete the data.img and cache.img and .android_secure soo all there is is a boot.img and system.img, then edit the nandroid.md5 to only have those files.. dont rename them.
on the new phone, restore the backup, then factory reset..
no personal information
Hi
I recently helped my friend to move her phone from stock to Cm7.1 stable and realized that for some reason, changing ringtone doesn't really change the ringtone.
There is a standard ringtone that plays for around 45~60 secs before the ringtone she chose plays.
Does anyone else have this problem or know a fix for this?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Did you do a full wipe before / after flashing CM7.1?
Yeah,
I remembered doing that... do you think that is the way to go?
You HAVE to do that yes.
I think I did. The thing is. it's not my phone, and so if possible I don't really want to have to wipe her phone clean. Could you think of any other possible ways to fix this without me having to have her back up everything and wiping the phone?
Before flashing a rom you should take a nandroid backup and a titanium backup. When you wipe, you then restore the titanium backup.
If you havent got a titanium backup, nandroid back to the old rom before you flashed it and take one. You HAVE to wipe going to CM from Sense.
If you didnt take any of tehse backups, all you can do is flash a sense rom as close to teh rom that was there originally, then make sure you back everything up.
ok. I'll try it when I and she have time. Thanx for your help. I'll update this post respectively.
topic plus details:
i needed to get a replacement evo 4g phone recently and after paying the 35 fee i got a refurb.
Anyways, i got the new refurbed evo all rooted and put cm7 back on and noticed a few small things needed some tweaking like the sprint vvm so i thought i would go back to stock and do that whole song and dance with titan back up and vvm to get it working.
Here is the point: i accidentally restored to an old back up of cm7 from about a month ago that was done on my old evo4g, and i noticed it worked perfectly on my new evo.
i thought nandroid backups were a clone image of the rom that would only work on the phone that the back up was made on, i guess this isnt true?
so my question is: am i running some kind of risk running this old nandroid back up and am i going to run into problems. i have many backups so i could always restore the backup from today wich was a clean install of cm7.
Did you delete the WiMax img before using that backup? If not you may have lost your RSA keys which help you connect to 4G.

So I Odin One Clicked my mom's Epic 4G touch the other night and she didn't sync her contacts to google like a normal human, but fortunately I made a titanium backup before she upgraded from stock FF18. If she restores the system data from stock FF18 on stock FK23 is it going to bork her phone like it normally would when trying to restore everything on a new rom? I'd rather not have her experiment because I'm back home now and I know she isn't going to be able to re-one click again without my help and I live two hours away so I'm not driving all the way back there because she messed up her phone. Is there any way to get her contacts out of her TB files? I have them on my hard drive and if I could get them in a VCF for her I can just put it in her Gmail account and it would save me a lot of hassle.
Thanks,
Drew
Ok so it seems the best way is just going to be to revert back to FF18, restore her contacts with titanium and then back them up some other way. Is there a guide somewhere to revert to FF18? Can I just use a 1 click to get her back? Shes rooted on FK23 right now. Sorry I'm not familiar with the E4GT, I used to rooting and flashing HTC's so any help is appreciated.
