Hi,
My phone is in pristine condition, however today I am somewhat angry that a piece of metal coating had come off the 'back' button. The picture below is not my device but it's and similar illustration of what I am explaining:

I am wondering if HTC will consider this under warranty or just cosmetic damage. And any tips to cover it up. Thanks

Yeah mine too. So annoying :-(

It's not major, but the power button is slanted forward and does not sit parallel with the device (eg the back of the button protrudes an extra few mm more than the front). Is this the same for everyone's?
Your rear case doesn't look like its on fully, push it on till it clicks in place and then the power button should sit flush. If it doesn't the more then likely its busted, phone who ever you got it from and ask for a replacement.
Blinky
shame on you posting them on xda as well

Even my phone has the power button protruding a bit off the phone's curve. Guess its normal is what i can say.

Thanks everyone. ('cept you Lenny, you've already had your thanks over where the cool folks live )
In the end, I checked the HTC Desires in my store today, and they're different. Back to Phones4U it goes. Replacement soon though, woo.
Just got my DHD, it seems got defect at the alu body. Can i know is it all the unit got a small gap at the alu body bottom the sound button, as shown at the pic below. It seems also got gap between the alu body and the battery cover. Is it normal?

Like i see it, it's not normal.
I would sent it back.
That does not look normal at all. The second picture seems to show a hole more than a gap. Maybe its misaligned? Either case, I think you should get a replacement.
Not normal at all. I would send it back for a replacement.

Not normal. Looks like when they machined it they got a little carried away on that side.
doesn't look normal to me either . you should get a replacement for that
Hi y'all,
Since 4 weeks I'm working on a new project; White 'nd red Desire. I got a brown HTC desire (GSM) from a friend as a gift, after he threw it on the ground and destroyed the LCD.
My first plan was to disassemble the Desire and order a new LCD. However, the external case was scratched and had many bumps and pits. I thought I should fix it and that's how this project started.
Below are some pictures and what's left to do.

To-do list:
Order LCD
Red accents on both sides.
Assembly
Test
Order and replace digitizer
When disassembling, I accidentily cracked the digitizer, so that needs replacing too.. Going to test it with the new LCD first, just to check if it's working...
Questions? Idea's? Let me know!
Looks good.

It's been about 12 hours since I installed it and I seem to a little rainbow effect on the bottom left corner looks like liquid under it causing it to happen. Will this go away when it reaches like the 24-48 hour drying mark?
I can tell you that Flex HD is not a good screen protector because it never clears after 3/4 days after instalation. Feels un confortable, sratchs very very easy and destroy your fingers.
I removed it after a week, couldn't stand it. By the way i moved to a cheap chinese for less than a dollar and got better clearity and resistance.
Hope it helps :banghead:

Since I don't have a warranty anymore (small crack on screen) and the phone had some hits on corners, thought why not peal the paint off? And voila. Say hello to my chrome-ish friend
Not an easy task...it is a wax on wax off mr Miyagi task.

Nice! How did you do it?
U
Sandpaper and nail sandpaper. And a lot of scrubbing. Need to cover camera and flash and screen. Pay attention to the buttons. Lost some of the power button thickness.
You can put the HTC Logo again with a CO2 laser
What about the antennas

I didn't covered them. They turned up very good.
Now get something like Semi-Chrome polish and remove the surface scratches. The stuff is designed for firearms and stainless steel things like motorcycle exhausts and so forth. It will really smooth that up nice(er).
And of course, cover the screens and camera again.
Looks good though.
