New to flashing roms etc...should i flash a new kernal first or do i flash the rom i want and then flash the kernal...or does it matter?
Always flash the rom, wipe cache and dalvik, then the kernel.
ROM first. Also Rom's come with their own kernel so you don't have really have to flash any kernel.
ty for the help
And to answer your other question; it is always the chicken. The chicken is known to have evolved from the [insert whatever the effin scientific name is], thus, obviously, coming first. While it is unclear whether or not the chicken originally produced eggs or live offspring, it's obviously a fact that it does now. Obviously. Some argue the 'chicken' is an offspring /off-branching offspring, spring, of another ground based bird /fowl - much like the common alligator / crocodile is but a close relative of its prehistoric bretheren.
Still poses an interesting question of life and how we have come to be. Or, ALIENA. Which would be Latin, scientfic name, of ALIENS. By that, I mean, aliens are why.

To add to that, the chicken would have to come first, because its a mammal, and mammals learn by emulating the parent.

hey guys I am writing a paper for school about the differences between Android OS, and I OS, more like a review, well guys I would like your help choosing a catchy title, any Ideas??? thanx,
BTW we all know which OS is going to be on top, lol,
Why The Iphone Sucks!!!
What about:
the andphone controversy
there's an app for that!
or

Tapatalk on Calk's EViO 2 ROM v1.6.1b
Having owned both. Etch a sketch (iphone OS) vs a real smartphone OS.. Only if rooted of course. You can never compare two crippled "out of the box" phones or their OS's.......
I never really understood how badly both OSs and their phones were getting crippled by the wireless telcos until I rooted and really unleashed my EVOs full potential.
Reminded me of when I was in school and we were "tethered along" by what we was being taught and weren't allowed to have other ideas, theories and smacked on the hand severely for thinking "outside the box".
this sounds like horrible material for a paper for school.....

Actually went to 18 different schools growing up.
Several different states (CT, NY, AZ, TX) and Bremerhaven, Germany as a U.S. Air Force brat in the 70's and early 80s. No matter what or where...teachers were always right and you didn't question them or dare ask why... let alone have your own conclusion.
Yup, and you had to rotary dial a phone attached to a wire to make a call...

You get a phone that is a standard but you also watch what others do with the standard.
BTW you don't need good headphones that last or that can compete.
I enjoy, CM9 and all roms but I don't get why everyone says it's "awesome" or "amazing" when you wont notice the actual difference until after using it for a day or two? Which normally people post it and want it the second it's released.
"I want new features (Galaxy S III "hand gestures")
It's all the same and depends on the setup. The kernel, rom , hardware ect... not trying to be a **** but those words attract "Myself". i'm a fool but i only get to decide for myself and normally it takes a day or two to realize my personal preferences. And figure out who is "amazing" when stock is the same.
"OOOOhh Yeeeahh" Rooot accseess where is my linux built in...? I will learn some day for now you can kick my ass for talking ****".!
This rom is awesome reminds me of why i flashed three or four "different" rom's to my phone to come across a "amazing one". actually i've flashed so many roms to many "different" phones to find this out.... which is why i'm writing this.. sense before i joined these words made me realize i need to ask this question.
Why use the words amazing or sweet. or awesome? is it some low level marketing trying to catch users? cuz they are like blam flashed this its sweet amazing fast. If you don't understand fragmentation then you don't understand android...
remember this taboo that came out which was "supposed to be" a Microsoft stompper.. "Linux" haha guess who could turn that **** into the same type of product. Love you big fish "google"! I heart you.
Gosh there is one person who owns 400 devices just so they could make the "app" compatible. This idea took 20 years for Microsoft to master with its ****ing drivers and ppop wtf.
All i'm saying is ide like a little less marketing and a little more truth. I'm sure I wont get that off this fake ass linux fragmentation hello billionaire Microsoft wanna bee.

What is your point? Your OP is so fragmented and wonders off on too many tangents, I primarily can't be bothered to reread and try to make sense of it.
You're whining about Android fragmentation and saying you'd rather have an Ubuntu distro bundled with phones?
*Edit* I mean Linux distro.
Ubuntu...
Noo Noo, I'm mostly talking about how my phone is standard, i dreamed i would do something with my nexus seeing as how it was from google. I soon get the phone and find all it is, is standard. You get the phone, lovely but after you get it all you do is watch other phones come out. Using less hardware to do better things.
I'm saying this as a repetitive google customer, and I rely on ports and other roms. I am trying to learn i know its a pathetic thing but i just wish others see what i see. If they don't i would hope my point i great and they would tell me how to help.
The google phones should dominate not be standard and I want to know how to not only root but make full use of a linux kernel space on any android not just how it is.
End Rant
Thanks

I've been an Apple user since my parent's bought the first Mac when it debuted; sure I was like 5 but I grew up on Macs.
I've never owned an iPhone but have seriously considered it, researched it and chose Android for a number of reasons. I upgraded to the E4GT last year, most of my friends and family worship at the church of the iPhone and upon seeing the E4GT every single iPhonatic was blown away by how much better it is than their device.
Which brings me to today's announcement: I couldn't be less impressed-- the days of Apple innovation seem like a distant memory. The most impressive thing that Apple showcased today is that it has the world's greatest public relations team; I couldn't be more impressed by their PR machine.
Also, in reading many mainstream news articles about the new iPhone I've seen a plethora of quotes from stock analysts about the device's hardware and design but only a few quotes from tech experts; it's very telling that the only people raving about it are those with a vested interest in seeing the stock price go up.
Look forward to your thoughts and countless "cool story bro" replies ...

You hit the nail on the head with the lack of innovations. At this point I don't care if they're stolen, just give us something to rave about! Seemed like this iPhone was just another "Let's get it up to par with the current Android devices and work on the real innovation for next year" release. I don't inherently hate Apple. They're responsible for a large chunk of why computing is so integrated into our daily lives. I just miss the days when they were changing them.

Being a daily Apple user I agree with the above, Apple lost a lot when Steve Jobs died. However I wouldn't say that it is "just bringing it up to the current Android devices." I mean have you seen the hardware on that sucker? It's freaking gorgeous! You get Siri(Which I personally find fun and amusing), Airplay, Airprint, and iCloud which is a pretty nice service for those with Macs. I don't think the iPhone is for everyone, but I never have hesitated to recommend them to non-techies. My $0.02.

Exactly right about Apple "getting up to par" with current Android devices, but IMO I think they failed to do that today. I think the S3 is a better device.
I'd choose my current E4GT running JB with Google Now over the new iPhone and Siri (leaving the 4G LTE out if the evaluation).
Like I said in my OP I've been an Apple fan/user my whole life and don't want this thread to focus on bashing Apple rather look at the real facts beyond the world's best hype machine.

I'm still not convinced that Google Now is a match for Siri, to me it's comparing Kiwi and lemons. What makes the iPhone stand out is what has always made it standout, the how noob friendly it is, to us geeks who hack our phones it seems outdated and almost childish, but to users like my mom who just want a simple non-customizable phone that does what they tell it too every time the iPhone is perfect. That's always been what Apple is, magnificent hardware(If slightly behind the curve), dumbed down UI, and the sole focus being user experience out of the box.

I agree that the hardware is impressive but the integration you mention is only fully realized if you're using a Mac; the majority of customers are Windows users and the integration isn't as seamless- if you've ever run iTunes on a Mac and then used it in a Windows OS you know exactly what I mean. Whereas innovations like Play Music and almost every Google/Android gapps is seamlessly integrated and able to be accessed anywhere.
I am most impressed by Apple's incredible PR team and wonder why Google or Samsung isn't trying to hire every member of Apple's PR staff. A good example of the skills of their team: the same megapixel camera we have had on the E4GT for a year (including our panoramic capabilities) is being hyped as an innovative wow factor.
Wait, i have a question since you wanted a discussion.
How can you say blah when you said you have never owned one and what you know is by paper only?
Take this phone for example. How many people are so impressed by white papers but once they get the phone they then say "blah"?...

You're absolutely right about it being noob friendly (just wait until they allow the Jitterbug as a provider offering it LOL).
I do like Google Now but find its true value in the notifications and location based things it alerts me about; but the voice based capabilities are strong but IMO, like siri it's more of a cute thing to play with.

There are a bunch of smart phone commercials coming out (for android devices) that feature nothing but hipsters.
1. The gs3 commercial with the hipster dad and the smoking hot wife(not even realistic)
2. The new nexus 7 commercial that android central just posted - life aquatic crap with hipster kids on vacation from their local occupy camp building some hippy aquarium.
Stop trying to be apple, this is one of the biggest reasons I would never own an apple product because they associate with the largest number of useless people that have come from my generation. There is nothing hip about a hipster
rant end lol
No it doesn't.
How are you going about classifying them all as "hipsters"? Just by how they dress?
Absolutely, thats 90% of what hipsteresis is......wearing ugly clothes and being unproductive (unless your a hipster and consider building a junk fish tank productive in this case)
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
I think the other 10% is wearing those huge wood framed glasses, although im not a hipster so i dont really know the ins and outs.
I am also claiming the trademark and sole rights to ownership of the term "hipsteresis"

Yeah, how about a little truth in advertising- they should be commercials about pale-skinned kids complaining about not getting a good signal because they are living in their parent's basement. Geesh- move to the attic already! Perhaps it's not a coincidence that the iphone is 23% slimmer and skinny jeans are in vogue?
I guess that's why I don't watch too much TV. If they replaced all the hipsters with regular nerds, I would be complaining because none of the nerds were using linux.
So to answer your question, I didn't see the commercials of which you speak, but that won't prevent me from opining about them in a public forum.

I could care less what people think of me, if i did I probably would have chosen not to make a thread expressing my controversial pov.
The original Hipster was probably a cool guy, and extraordinarily original. Unfortunately the people that have stolen his originality because they are expressing their individuality have missed the point, hence all of the conflicting ideas in that last statement.

Hey guys, I was just on the meet and greet sticky, and I thought, "Huh. I wonder how some of these people got their user names?"
If you would like to, go ahead and post your reasons for/situations that led to/way of coming up with your pseudonym!
I'll go first.
So, I'm 17, and on that matter I'm a senior in high school.
We all know teenagers. They like to make fun. So, one day in gym last year, some girls got my original nickname, "Laizure", and, for reasons unknown, added "Boy" to the end.
This spread like wildfire. Within ONE day, the ENTIRE school, including the teachers, the principal, and god forbid, the janitor, ALL CALLED ME LAIZUREBOY.
At first, I was embarrased. Honestly, why make a nickname like that?
Then, I realized that it was a unique nickname. Nobody would guess it was my last name if used online, so it was perfect.
Now, people unwittingly scream my last name in frustration when I own them on Call of Duty, Quake, and Battlefield.
Sorry for the life story, but being a small forum community, it can't hurt, can it?

I got it for my knack for analyzing and predicting human behavior, often exposing the less noble motivations people have for their actions(especially in the domain of love). This was considered Evil, with the capital E.
The other part comes from my fascination(not approval) of all things taboo and 'strange'. But I'm just really interested in how people view the world, and why they see it the way they do, even more so if their view deviates from the norm!
