My phone is bricked after I flashed the wrong radio , and now the phone won`t start and charge , even connect to the usb . I have tried every combination of the buttons , at first it has some responds , but now it`s totally a brick . It won`t be able for me to send it to the htc repair center .
And I know that some other bricked phones can be repaired by jtag . I searched for days on line but just could`t find any information about it . How can I repair my phone or when can I repair my phone using jtag ? HELP,please!

Why can't you send it in. The Supportwont get you phone to boot either. So they replace the main platine on warranty.
I don`t have a warranty here , so I just can wait for the jtag repair.
As far as I know, we do not know the location of the jtag contact points.
What I do know is that jtag mode is volume up+power. That combination should ALWAYS work no matter what state the phone is in. The notification light blinks a few times but the screen stays black. You are pretty much SOL

I press the volume up + power and the phone can work in jtag mode .
If only we found the jtag contact points that we could fix the phone without the datasheet of the 7230 cpu?
If you can contact scotty2 (the man responsible for rooting the htc vision) he know how to fix it.
He found a new menu that comes before boot menu . I'm not 100 percent sure but I think it was power and camera button half way in. Not completely in just half way in . But what you do after thet I'm have no idea. I know all of this because I have brick 1 desire z.

I had the same problem as well....
It there any other way to fix this instead of claim warranty?
As I tried to send the Diamond back to repair center and they wanted to charge for US$300 for this....
Please help!!!
Hi,
I have read a lot of topics about my problem but I haven't found a solution.
I'll explain my problem:
I have successfully flashed a samsung i780 with the Heroes WM6.1 Final ROM using mirage 1.8.
The phone works well for a couple of days, but one day it crashes and I perform a soft reset. It reboots normally but the dispaly shows the touch screen calibration and the contacts are disappeared. So I think "This seems to be an hard reset!!" and it happens a couple of times.
The last time it crashes the battery was very low. So I shut down the pda and I connect the charger, but the red led doesn't turn on.
With the portable charger the battery charges without any problems, but when I insert the battery, the i780 doesn't power up.
I try every combination: fn + alt + power / power + red and green buttons / power + '9' button. The pda still dead and mirage cannot detect it.
Somebody can help me?
Thanks a lot and sorry for my english.
no idea?
somewhere i have found something about jtag connection..
did u try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=380723
@ironeagle
The device goes completely dead and you cant put it to bootloader mode, or anything at all for that matter. The device goes COMPLETELY DEAD - literally! The service guys told me it was a mobo failure.
@sfrangebob
I think inertiax did mention somewhere that someone was able to revive it using jtag interface. But for that you need to hack in at hardware level and flash the chip directly. This is risky and has no assured outcome!
let us know what happens....best of luck
it's not a problem for me hacking in the hardware level. I have a lot of experience in consoles (and electronics devices) hardware hacking, but I have to discover more about this jtag method.
Wich jtag adaptor should i use and wich software?
Where can I find this information?
Thanks a lot.

The biggest problem is to find JTAG testpoints for the i780. I have no idea how to find this, and it was only inertiax who had mentioned someone who had successfully used JTAG to revive a dead i780...so i'm guessing he should know where the jtag test points are located. Once you have that, i guess you can borrow the process from that of any other device as it should be more or less the same.
You can see this post -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=369681
You can download i780 sevice manual on the internet and find out the jtag test points. But there are two types of jtag test points on the mainboard.
perhaps this may fix up ...
took out / in the battery for several times ... do it quickly
then try to turn it ON ...
I got the same problem as you ...
but mine when I took out the battery or turn OFF,
it cannot be ON later...
so I repeat the battery in/out several times and its work ...
Hey Guys..
I have a Desire here in my Hands with a strange type of Brick.. (at least one I've never seen before) ..
It just does not react to anything at all. The battery is charged and I tested with another cell to be sure that is not the trivial cause.
No Bootloader, No HTC Logo, No reactions at all..
Did happen while flashing a Froyo 2.2 Rom + Radio + App2SD (from the xda forums) via ClockworkMod Recovery but I wasn't there to witness the actual Flash.
After flashing the device hung desperately in a screen with the robot in front of a box with an arrow .. looked like unpacking or so, but wasn't doing anything at all for at least half an hour.
Then battery removed -> Brick.
Anyone got any Idea?

I suspect you removed the battery whilst it was flashing the radio. This is insta-brick territory and as far as I'm aware there is no cure other than sending it in to HTC.
Regards,
Dave
If you can access fastboot as opposed to bootloader you might be talking failing that back to HTC it goes
if your phone can not turn off whilst holding either volume down or the back button then yeah it's a brick, send it off to htc, just say it overheated and wont turn on again

The battery was removed after flashing and rebooting.
Installed in the following order:
32.41.00.32U_5.08.00.04.zip
LeeDrOiD_V1.2b.zip
942_desire_froyo_a2sd-signed.zip
every process seemed to work normal, no error happened.
Then rebooted the Desire and the "Box with Android-Bot" Screen appeared.. this hung for 30 min or more when I could not think of any other solution than removing the battery to reset..
After this -> nothing.
I suppose as you say it has to do something with the Radio ROM..
Been coming from OpenDesire 1.6b - every flash ran perfectly up to this point.
Damn, I think this one has to go back to HTC.
Is there any possibility to unbrick a phone thats not responding at all?
Could HTC be aware of the modifications or will they really just go with the "overheated and won't turn on again" explanation?
Thanks for your help so far guys!
Yea, the little Droid with the box thing is during a radio flash and you should never pull the battery during that as it does result in a brick.
Can you reach fastboot as mentioned up above?
..tried pressing the "back" button with the power button and the vol-down button together with the power button..
even did the "insert the battery while holding the button" method..
I don't think I can get the thing to Fastboot..
But I will look further into this and try..
..
Has anyone had a Radio Brick and sent this to HTC before?
Is the repair covered by warranty?
Do you guys think they even get this is no real HW failure?

I know someone who sent their phone back with a pretty much identical issue and the phone was fixed under warranty no problem.
Regards,
Dave
yay!
you know, even one post of you telling me it went allright for another guy is a big relief..
EDIT: just wanted to let you know I tried invoking fastboot via usb and the android PC tools..
just keeps waiting for the device.. and waiting ..
..will analyse USB traffic in general to conclude if there is a little itsy bit of life left in the phone, but I think this is a dead end too.
thank u all for ur help i have managed to unlock the phone as described
thanks alot every1
saifiraq: You seem to have stumbled in the wrong thread or could we help by coincidence?
..UPDATE:
Did usb-sniffer analysis while pulling battery, trying to turn on, plugging usb in etc.
NOTHING at all..
My baby is on it's way to HTC now.. wish me luck guys!
Hi, I think my phone just broke.
It's a HTC Desire Z.
Today I tried flshing a new radio image, but it didn't work , got the write failed message, from within phone os (virtuous froyo 1.0.2)
Got hboot 0.85.xxxx.
This was at work and since I had no compatible USB cable I thought I'd wait until I got home.
Well at home i selected boot to bootloader from holding the power button, the phone shutdown and that's it.
Now only lifesigns are the orange charge led.
When pulling the battery and inserting it, connectiong the usb cable the light comes on, pulling the cable it turns of.
When cable connected and pressing vol down + power, nothing happens, pulling the cable leaves the charge light still on.
Trying vol down + power without the cable does aboslutely nothing.
Do, does anyone have any clue what I can do ?
The phone worked flawlessly until the reboot point.
Iknow the first desire had some special key combination to get into some blue-led mode, haven't found anything on this so far.
it does not show up in devices in computer management either.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. I found the vol up + power it shows up as Qualomm CDMA Technologies MSM in device management.

There must be a way to recover this type of brick, to dd a new hboot image.
Lets face it, the hboot image was flashed to a brand new HW at some point, the Q will therefor be, how do they do it, and how can we all do it?
Research continues.....
Ok, does anyone know how to fix a broken bootloader on the Desire Z ?
I figured out that the bootloader is broken, this because I mixed up radio and hboot image yesterday and tried to write the radio image to hboot partition, this is why I got a message telling me write error because of space issues.
Now I have my old Desire Bravo, wich is working better than all desire bravos here at work
But I want my Z back in bizniz.

have you got insurance??
u could drop it down the stairs at your workplace... claim on insurance... make sure its truely broke though...
just a stupid thought
if warrenty wont replace then insurance most probabally will... if its so broken you cant even turn it on to get the led. lol
either way mate i really hope you get it sorted soon best of luck!
You have brick your phone. bootloader is broken no fix for it. Sorry.
If you do not have warranty call htc Norway and say that you try to update your Software WITH HTC SYNC. They are very customer friendly there.

I've been talking to mcare and deltaservice, they seems to be unable to help me since the bootloader is broken, I know this issue can be worked out with JTAG on the old desire, just have to wait for JTAG update on the Z, then I'll be up and running again, btw, I'm getting a new phone AND got to keep the old one
Ohhh, yeah.
BOYAAAAHHH!
I still wonder what the volume up + power key combo is good for.
When the phone is started in this mode, it shows, as mentioned earlier, as a Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM device in device manager on my puter, diagnostics mode ? possible way to get write access to internal memory, like say.... /dev/block/mmcblk0p18 so we can repair the bootloader without any advanced tear down of the phone and fancy equipment ?
If ANYONE have a clue on this feel free to share it with everyone else that has a Desire z/Vision. Thank you.
btw, took some high res pics here:

hi all just changed the digitizer on a wildfire s (done over 10) and when i power phone on i get no display vibrates little red light on top then i let it boot up the buttons light up .. tried another lcd still same
Send it to HTC.......they'll replace that ****..........just make sure your phone is not BL unloked and/or rooted
phone has been opened ?
well that voids your warranty..... guess you have the option to buy a new phone or try sending it to someone you trust that can fix up your phone
