Does anybody got something like this? Since i have DHD and connect him to my PC i usually get a Windows Explorer crash and force close ... It happens almost every time when i connect my DHD into PC via USB ... Anybody?
I`m using Windows 7 64bit
What if you uninstall/reinstall the HTC sync and drivers, then reboot. Also reboot and try a fresh/different usb port.

Hi
I have a big issue whereby when I connect my desire to my laptop as a disk drive I am unable to copy any files across.
My computer recognises the phone and opens up windows explorer (albeit very slowly) but when I try to navigate around the folders it just hangs until i get a notification telling me that windows explorer is not responding.
I have tried 3 different cards, all with the same results. In addition I have had my phone replaced and both the old phone and the replacement are the same. Have also tried 2 different cables.
Cards have no problem connecting in a card reader.
I am using windows 7 64 bit. I am also unable to connect to HTC sync.
I am convinced that this is a windows 7 issue. I am aware that others on the same OS have no issues but I can't see what else the problem could be.
Anyone else had this issue and found a fix?
This is now driving me insane so any help would be most appreciated.

have you checked you have the latest drivers installed on your computer for your phone?
also make sure your usb cable is connected to the main usb ports on your computer not any hubs or anything
First of all you have to install the "windows mobile device center"
When you connect the HTC to your computer, there pops a window up, where you can choose, between sync and fast data travel. have you tried this out?
if the window is not there go to settings-->connections-->USB to Pc and change it there. (not in the touch flo settings. there you have to go to MORE and there are this settings)
maybe this helps

sorry cgrec92 ... I was writing this while you posted your answer
Thanks for the response guys.
Have tried connecting via all 4 of the usb ports so this doesn't seem to be the issue. Have also uninstalled the drivers and then plugged the device back in to reinstall drivers but with no luck. Have also downloaded the adb driver from the net but with no joy.
Is mobile device centre not exclusively for windows phones?!
Keep the ideas coming!

Erhhh.... are you aware that this is the Desire forum, which is an Android device and not Windows Mobile?
To the OP: seems to me that you've tried everything connected to the phone/cables, but haven't tried connecting to a different PC. I've no problems with Windows 7 x64, but I would suggest that you plugging your device into a different PC.
Regards,
Dave
I've got exactly the same problem, it's rather annoying now.
It used to work fine up until now
i tried to connect my htc desire z in my laptop but the computer did not recognize my device and i tried in my work pc that is a desktop and it do, later i tried to connect in another laptop and did not connect, and in another desktop and the device culd connect. can anybody help me. what is the diferents between desktop usb and laptops usb. or if is a hadware problem or firmware problem.
You have to install drivers so your desktop or laptop computer knows what your phone is. Otherwise, it has no way of knowing what it is, and just calls it a generic USB device.
Just install HTC Sync. This has the required drivers, and also the computer software to sync your personal data between the phone and your computer (if you desire to do so).

If its just to connect so you can add/remove stuff from your sd card it should be plug and play. But maybe its different in other countries lol

can somebody help me. I cant get my drivers to recognize my device. Ive installed the driver i needed. Ive restarted my pc and uninstalled and reinstalled the driver.
If you using the stock cable, this may be the issue. A blackberry usb cable works great. You should also try a different usb port on the computer. What os are you running?

I got mine to work by letting Windows Update find and install the drivers. I turned on USB Debugging, conneceted the cable, clicked to connect on the phone, then went into Device Manager in the Control Panel and found Samsung Android under USB and clicked it, then said update drivers and chose from Windows Update. Took like a half hour to get them all.
On my pc I'm using windows vista. I uninstalled driver and restarded my pc and phone and plugged in an HTC cable and installed the driver and it worked. I left debug mode on during that process. Should I have turned it off. Anyways I turn phone off to go into download mode and it doesnt recognize the device. Wth! It says to update and look for update but there isnt and doesnt work. Then I unplug cable and plug cable back in after I rebooted and I get the did not recognize error.

I have been using cables from Amazon basics, no cable issues at all. They even warranty the cable for a year.
Vista is a tough os to get the drivers working just right. If u have access to a win7 or xp x86 comp, you might have better luck. I never could get my win7 x64 working but np on win7 x86. Go figure...

Hi,
the USB port of my GN does not work for data.
If I connect it to the charges, it's getting charged as usual.
But if I connect the phone to my PC (Win8 or Linux) it doesn't work. Only the charging function works.
The PC tries to install the drivers for a new USB device but after a short time it says that it couldn't be installed.
Anyone who knows a solution?
Since you mentioned this I went ahead and tried my Rooted GNex on PC and Mac. It worked fine on PC but MAC is not finding my phone.

Same problem different win OS. I have an intel chipset system with win 7 enterprice and a amd ati chipset win 8 pro. Works fine with my ati. And the intel computer does not show the display. Cant find a solution for that problem must be a compatibility issue.
