[Q] Desire Z warranty, please help - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I need to send my desire z to warranty, but i have root, s-off, cm7 rc4 on and a different radio. I know i'm not the first one having this problem, but after reading different threads i'm still not sure how to proceed. Can someone help me step by step please? I think i have to flash the official rom, right (i got root and s-off with gfree)? Then do i have to flash the original radio or flashing the stock rom is enough? THEN do i have to unroot and s-on?
Last but not least, where can i find all files i need?
Thank you

[Q] Not able to unroot htc desire :-(

I have HTC Desire bought from India with baseband version=32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2 & software number=2.13.720.1.
I rooted my phone with unrewoked3 but now i want to get back to my original rom which i got at the time of purchase as i am not able to get updates. I have tried to flash rom : RUU_Bravo_Froyo_hTC_Asia_WWE_2.13.707.1_Radio_32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_143921_signed but not able to get it done with error 131. Please some one help me out of this i have checked everywhere for this but not able to get it done.. Please help me out of this..
I have successfully flashed the following ROM by using gold card:
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_hTC_Asia_WWE_2.13.707.1_Radio_32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_143921_signed
But i think that this is not the rom which was earlier on my desire at the time of shipping, because i was getting update for:RUU_Bravo_hTC_Asia_India.
Can someone help me getting this clear.. is this ROM different from what i was having at the time of purchase???
You did not need to install that RUU Rom that u installed. Unrevoked ONLY provides root, it does not replace your ROM. You actually lost the original ROM now by installing this new ROM.
Thanx for your valuable reply... But now what i can do??? I want to get back to my original ROM how can i get there??
I'm afraid not much.
Over at shipped roms there is only an old RUU 2.1 (eclair).
It's the right one for you and if you managed to find the updates you'll be okay, you can also try searching for OTAs but I don't know if you have big chance for an OTA when you are right now in such an old version.
Maybe you can mail htc to ask them if they will provide you with a link for the froyo OTA for your software version, tell them you missed it...
clockworkmod
hehe..
I have clockworkmod which is there in the SD card(after rooting the device by unrewokrd one get this), can this help me in getting my ROM back??
You can restore from clockwork but you'll then be still roooted, although with your original 2.2 ROM.
You did the backup rooted - the restore therefore will be with root.
Can i try to downgrade bootloader
Hmmm... Thanks man :-(
I have tried to flash RUU_Bravo_hTC_Asia_India_1.21.720.4_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_127705_signed
by using gold card but not able to do that.. I think i have to downgrade radio or boot-loader first then i will be able to do the same... Is it true???
Also please try to give the procedure to downgrade boot-loader...
I don't have experience with downgrading but you can follow the guide by teppic in development - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256
And you do not need a goldcard when you are flashing an Indian x.xx.720.x ROM because your original ROM was this type. You need it only when you are flashing update or a ROM that is not for your device.
OK... I am trying on the same thread but thanx for this..
I will try to downgrade, lets hope for the best

[Q] I combined confusion with Rom

Since I was having fun doing root and change the Roma, yesterday I've done a mess: I installed the original ROM of PC10IMG.zip Tmobile G2 and now I can not go back.
I can only install the rom change, but if you want to go back to the cell. clean, I can not.
If I Downgrade your Desire-Z from 1.72 to 1.34 and try to install the z PC10IMG.zip of desire, I'm not part!
Does anyone have solutions?
I would be very grateful.
P.S. linux commands, I understand very little, I follow the step by step guide ...

Installing eng hboot is not needed if you want to root but it is a good idea to have because
it will let you use fastboot commands ,lets say for any reason your recovery fail, you will
have the option to recover your phone through fastboot ,also you will need it if you want
to try different radios. However, if you want to install eng hboot ,you must be very carefull
when doing so otherwise you could brick your phone. make sure you follow every step and make sure that you are installing the the right one .(g2 and desire z have specific hboots).
wait, is it more likely that you will brick your phone if you use engineering hboot? also one last question. i just want to root my phone to install the virtuous unity rom onto my phone and use a fast kernal to allow me to overclock only to 1.3ghz. i dont be doing much else modding on my phone. should i still install hboot eveim if im doing very little?

since you live in canada i assume you have a desire z not a g2 so you do not have to change your hboot for unity ,i didnt say you are more likely to brick your phone if you install eng hboot ,i said it is a good idea to install eng hboot so if for any reason your recovery fails you will have
an option to use fastboot and fix your phone, and then i said be very carefull when installing hboot and make sure you install the right hboot because g2 and desire z partition sizes are different so make sure if you have a desire z you are installing the one for desire z not the one that is for the g2. and make sure you type in the commands exactly like it said in the wiki .
(also seems like the wiki has changed since i was doing this, because i remember installing eng hboot was marked
as optional in the wiki before but now everything is different so you might actually need the eng boot now, i am not %100 sure i would wait for someone else to confirm what i said.)
Thanks for your help, i successfully rooted my htc desire z
@evilcuber May I use your thread to ask an additional question regarding hboot ?
I rooted my French DZ some times ago, I followed a tutorial from cyanogenmod wiki, most probably this one (http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Desire_Z:_Rooting) but I do not remember flashing an engineering hboot.
As I would like to install Unity, I have to check my phone runs the right hboot. Here is the information I have :
Thanks for your help !
I think that as long as you have a DZ and not a G2, your hboot should be fine

[Q] Stock Gingerbread ROM via CWM?

Hi,
just a short question. I'm in contact with HTC about some htcsense.com problems and they wanted to know my IMEI and what ROM i use.
Just to be sure about warranty - is it possible to flash the original htc gingerbread ROM via CWM? And where do i get it?
Or is it necessary to flash a whole RUU? Do i need to do root and S-OFF again?
Thanks
Regards
Daniel
I don't think thats possible. Search forum on how to unroot your device before sending in for warranty repairs if I were you.
No i don't need to send it to them but as they wanted to know which rom i use i wonder if they can read the rom info via htcsense.com synchronisation.
And as this means to loose warranty i would like to hide the usage of a custom rom.
Is it possible to change the infos shown in Settings -> Info -> Phone Info?
Where is this stored? Can it just be edited?
Thanks!
just flash the ruu. for warranty you're phone should not be rootet or have s-off.
next time post your question in the q&a forum
Okay thanks, and then i have to do all the procedures again to get ENG S-OFF, CWM and so on... :/

[Solved] help

ok i need a little help im new to HTC coming from samsung i have knowledge of rooting and flashing and such but i seem to be going in circles trying to obtain root. I am currently running 2.2 Froyo, I have read quite a bit on here but not sure of best method to use any input would be appreciated.
I will presume that you own a G2 / Desire Z. Go to my minus.com profile(link is in my signature) and download the pdf corresponding to your phone and the skip the downgrading part of the guide and jump to rooting. Just follow it and you'll be rooted and s-off.
Sent from my HTC Desire Z
successful now onto flashing thanks
