Hi,
just a short question. I'm in contact with HTC about some htcsense.com problems and they wanted to know my IMEI and what ROM i use.
Just to be sure about warranty - is it possible to flash the original htc gingerbread ROM via CWM? And where do i get it?
Or is it necessary to flash a whole RUU? Do i need to do root and S-OFF again?
Thanks
Regards
Daniel
I don't think thats possible. Search forum on how to unroot your device before sending in for warranty repairs if I were you.
No i don't need to send it to them but as they wanted to know which rom i use i wonder if they can read the rom info via htcsense.com synchronisation.
And as this means to loose warranty i would like to hide the usage of a custom rom.
Is it possible to change the infos shown in Settings -> Info -> Phone Info?
Where is this stored? Can it just be edited?
Thanks!
just flash the ruu. for warranty you're phone should not be rootet or have s-off.
next time post your question in the q&a forum
Okay thanks, and then i have to do all the procedures again to get ENG S-OFF, CWM and so on... :/

I find many cool things (such as some themes, the flipclock from htc Desire HD, and so on..) that can be installed by flashing on recovery mode.
My question is: What does these mean? Is root required? does it make the warranty decade?
Can you explain to me o link me to some tutorial?
I just want to know what can be done without rooting.
Thanks much in advance!
Yes you need root, yes warranty will be void (but you can revert to stock again if need be).
As for links, use the search function as that what it's for
Hey guys,
I need help in rooting my phone, I think my phone is not branded as it doesn't show any telco logo when I start the phone, so in that sense, do I need to create goldcard for my phone and what tool to root my phone? And do I need to install a new radio for my desire?
What rom till now is stable? Stable as in can receive sms normally and have google talk all these?
Can someone provide some inputs? Thanks and appreciate.

visit this page, download unrevoked, this one click app will root and install a custom recovery http://unrevoked.com/recovery/, the most popular rom is leedroid, but you should try other roms see which one you like best
Before you even root the phone or do anything, go to Settings>About phone>Software information and make a note of the software version, e.g. 2.10.405.2
Once you have it, go here and if there is a file matching your software version download:
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Bravo
This way should you ever need to return to stock for warranty issues you can
I need to send my desire z to warranty, but i have root, s-off, cm7 rc4 on and a different radio. I know i'm not the first one having this problem, but after reading different threads i'm still not sure how to proceed. Can someone help me step by step please? I think i have to flash the official rom, right (i got root and s-off with gfree)? Then do i have to flash the original radio or flashing the stock rom is enough? THEN do i have to unroot and s-on?
Last but not least, where can i find all files i need?
Thank you
Hi All,
I have a US Cellular BravoC that needs to go in for repair. I am one of the unlucky ones who are experiencing the overheating/forced resetting while doing CPU intensive tasks.
I currently have S-OFF, CWM Recovery 3.0.2.4
I know that I can download 2.2 RUU in fastboot and that will return my phone to unrooted, S-ON... and my warranty repair should go through fine. The problem is, I want to be able to return to CM or Oxygen when I get my phone back.
1) If I return a phone with S-OFF and CWM recovery is it likely that HTC will deny the warranty repair?
2) Does anyone know if there is an RUU for 2.1?
3) Is it possible to flash the stock recovery and leave S-OFF as a back door?
4) Is it even likely that I will get the same software back? In other words... should I not even worry about because I will likely get back something different (Just flash the 2.2 RUU and say screw it).
I still do not really understand the whole "goldcard" thing or how to really use fastboot effectively, so I don't have the untouched ROM that came with the phone. Only the rooted one I created with nandroid backup before installing CWM
Sorry, I know that is a lot of questions but they are all very closely related. I have searched through the forum and did not find anything that really answers these.
Thanks for any advice you may have!
When you get your phone back you can just reroot and S-OFF again. You need to find the US Cellular ruu and run it.
Maybe someone else can help you with that.
So if I understand this correctly, even if I have 2.2 installed (which, as of now, can not be rooted) I could find and install the 2.1 RUU and then root the phone? I think the problem is HTC never released a 2.1 RUU. I am pretty sure I go to 2.2 (or HTC upgrades my phone to 2.2) I will lose the ability to root it.
Man, I just hate the stock ROM so much I want to try avoiding it at all costs.
Hi guys,
I'm in the process of selling my Desire, and before I do I want to wipe it, unroot, and return to a stock ROM. I thought the easiest way would be to just install the stock Gingerbread ROM from HTC's website but I can't seem to find it anywhere - it looks like htcdev.com has been updated as I can't find any reference to the ROM on it. Does anyone know where I can download it? Am I right to assume that it will unroot but NOT re-lock the phone?
Cheers,
Craig
Not sure if it will re-lock (but I doubt it) and best place to look is shipped roms. Com
And your looking for a wwe version but not having used it I am not sure or the whole name.

I just went into htcdev.com and its still there. http://htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads the 1st one is the gingerbread rom. And I don't think it will relock the phone.
