Hi Guys,
I am planning to buy HTC P3300 today. I had certain questions for the same and wanted to know if any one of you could help me out.
Please help me understand:
Does using the HTC GPS also use the GPRS connection even if I have relevant maps loaded
Can I install TouchFlo from the HTC Touch phone in HTC P3300 to get the same functionality
If Yes where can I get the same (TouchFlo)

1) No
2) Yes. You will find it if you do a search on the forums.
I agree with glam's answers, but if you use Tomtom for navigation and if you want to use the optional extras like Tomtom Traffic, you need GPRS connection to download the infos. But this is entirely optional, I myself dont use it.

If u r 4m India.. They have Mapking 12 as default GPS software.. u have preloaded maps, 1 map is free, & u gotta pay 4 d rest u wanna buy..
All infos & traffics are on server which means, using GPS without GPRS in such case is like using google maps where u can simply locate urself.. No directions routes, no traffics, no shop infos..
Choice is urs..
Hi;
I wanna to buy my first smartphone.
and after some researches I aim at HTC Desire and HTC HD2.
another notice is that my language is Persian (Farsi) and It's a right to left language. Does HTC Desire support my language plus English?
As you Know in a web cruise. We face to a lot of languages so it's better that they seem correctly in phone screen
Is there anyway to solve this problem with Desire OS (Android 2.1)
And should I Buy HD2 instead of Desire? Why?
Also PLEASE CONTRIBUTE IN THE POLL
Regards ...
A google search says it doesn't, not without installing it anyway (you need to be able to use ADB to do that).
Having said that, I'm pretty sure I have arabic in my settings menu (which google search also says isn't avaliable) =/

But I heard that I can do it by connect desire to my computer and go to it's root and something else
Thus shouldn't I buy Desire ?
and could you please explain this : forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=646595
What is it about? Do add rtl languages support similar, too?
Thanks
Can anyone help me please specially about this urls : forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=646595
developer.android.com/reference/java/text/Bidi.html
developer.android.com/reference/java/lang/Character.UnicodeBlock.html
(copy these urls and paste in your browser address bar)
And that finally can I add Persian language after buying HTC Desire

Hi,
regarding your poll, I think the HD2 is too big for a mobile device.
regarding the Arabic/Farasi support (and all other right-to-left languages), ... Google android does support this (right-to-left rendering), but it does NOT show those languages by default (natively) meaning you cannot read Arabic characters (by default) in Web/SMS/emails, .. etc
however there are some Arabic developers that made that happen in android 1.6 and I believe they will work on it for the android 2.1 also.
check this post

If you are not very familiar with rooting (and do not want to be ), and you HAVE to HAVE Farsi in your phone, than go for the HD2, buy it from your country so it would come with Farsi by default.
BTW, in Google android issues, the number two ranked issue on the Android list is "arabic (and other right-to-left) language support for android". many people are asking for it.

Very Thanks Dear Irkan
I want to know more about rooting and Its manner If you can please ...
And that Is rooting possible for android 2.1 now? If it isn't ; so what's the duty ?
Thanks a lot
well, .. it is possible (the Nexus one has been rooted) but i think (and many other think the same) that the Desire rooting (even though that it has Android 2.1 as Nexus 1) the procedure of rooting might be a little different, but it will happen when the device reaches the developers. and we are going to find out.
My best answer to you is to wait for the device to reach the devs here (probably 2 weeks from now) and see when the device is rooted, after that you can safely order the Desire, and follow the procedure of rooting the desire and then apply the Arabization (and Farsi-zation if I may add)
check this thread
Arabic/Farsi Language on nexus one.2 March 2010
the procedure of Arabizing the desire will be almost the same as the Nexus One (more or less), but the rooting process might be different, thats why you should wait and see how exactly the Desire is going to be rooted ...
Thanks Thanks Thanks Dear irkan

excuse me, Another question:
Is This process a legal implementation for android whereas it's open source?
What about windows mobile?
Thanks

I do believe it's legal, but rooting your device will void your warranty.

Thank you very much,
But why will it void the warranty as it legal?
and Do you know that I should ask who (specific developer) to add 4 letters to Arabic languages to become Persian?
Thanks a lot
It will void the warranty because they need a scapegoat They need something to point to if your phone breaks, so they don't have to fix it for free Plus there's the off chance that you actually do break it by doing something root-related
Hi,
Has HTC Desire been root after this period ?

I want to use Farsi language in my Cell Phone

Unlike this forum, There is a seeker topic in modaco forum to root HTC Desire :

Hi,
As HTC Desire was rooted ; How can we add Farsi/Arabic language to it?
Is It completely similar to add Arabic/Farsi Language on nexus one ?
Kind Regards...
Check http://WWW.handheldusers.com/forum ,I have added some updates regarding desire and Persian support
It supports part of the whole thing,
There is preview custom Rom supporting Arabic/persian which can be found at modaco

has anyone tried the app mirsal from the market?
I don't read arabic (i can barely read and write English, i grew up in south London....!) so i wouldn't know if it's working right or not, but i've heard it's supposed to be quite good.
EDIT: turns out it is for SMS only. Sorry.
I've got probably a somewhat unique problem and I wondered if there was a setting or conf file somewhere I could tweak to fix it.
The problem is that I'm a native English speaker but I use my phone in Spanish. I wish to perform voice searches in English because there are some things for which I don't know the word in Spanish and because my accent means Spanish voice to speech is a little less accurate than it should be. my phone used to work perfectly in Spanish with English voice searching until Google added support for spanish. My current work around of changing the phone's language settings back to English then to Spanish again works but is less than ideal as it takes ages to do and you'd often be faster typing you're search in manually. is there another way round this? is there a setting I can tweak? my Desire is rooted if it helps!......Sent from my HTC Desire using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
Anyone any ideas?

guessing that's a don't know. I was thinking that voice search had to be instructed to send the audio to a specific server based on the language and that either the program might be patchable or some config file editable...maybe even a script to change the language then launch voice search then switch it off again? or some program that might catch dns requests for the Spanish server and re-route them to the English one? I am just theorising of course! perhaps there's even an option I simply don't know about? anyone got any ideas?

I have a problem with unlocking my windows phone HTC 8S so i can deploy XAPs.
I don't want to register myself for dev unlock, so i tried this chinese tool (called aiyingyong or something, that blue bird thing) which can be used to dev unlock windows phones. i saw tutorials and stuff and i know exactly how to do it, even if it is in a language i can't read. I tried using the tool and it detects my HTC. For some reason, a blue button (which should appear to continue) does NOT appear and i get this:
(i am german, so it is called "USB-Verbundgerät")
by clicking on the blue arrows down there, this happened:
if i type something in these boxes and try to continue, it does not work and my phone doesn't get the dev unlock. what am i doing wrong? what do i have to type in these boxes?
i hope someone knows another way to unlock it or can help me otherwise.
thanks for any advice.
Try the steps from http://windowsphonehub.in/tutorials...eloper-unlock-windows-phone-sideload-10-xaps/
is this unlock method safe from malware or keylogging and how can i get back to default if i dont want to use it anymore, i want to unlock but im not sure what other does this program.
Anyone who installed before can explain better.
