I hope you realize there's a good chance you won't be able to root after you install this?
Downloading froyo 2.2 now from Asia. HK purchase from Australia. I'm sure they will find a way to root it...eventually.
you will lose root and can not force the apps to be installed on SD.

My friend has HTC Desire Asian edition.
When manually checking continually it says that phone is up-to-date.

new HTC Desire T-Mobile branded doesn't show froyo update

Hello,
Today I received my brand new german HTC Desire (T-Mobile branded) with Android version 2.1. I wanted to install the OTA 2.2 update, but it doesnt show anything, although I tried checking for updates manually.
firmware: 2.1-update1
baseband : 32.41.00.32U_4.08.00.09
Kernel: 2.6.29-3cb3dfbf
software-number: 1.15.110.11
Any ideas?
I tried removing battery for some time, changing sim.
Hope you can help me.
It may sound stupid.... but have you asked t-mobile?
Update to froyo has been announced officially for desire long time ago so it should be available for all devices. Perhaps there's something wrong with your device.

[Q] No update to 2.3

Hey,
I've been waiting for a long time for the 2.3 update on my DHD and I still have not received an update to my phone, i was wondering if anyone has come across this issue and if there is a way to manually apply the update without rooting the phone.
My android version currently is 2.2.1 and software number is 1.84.832.2
any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

While you are waiting for a reply here (unfortunately I don't know the answer) you could try sending an email to HTC.
They may will be able to help you
HTC rolls out the OTA update region by region, with exception to some countries. 1st, by following above suggestion, do check your region whether they have launched the OTA update. 2nd, if you do want to update, at least turn the ENG S-OFF, as latest 2.50 is not rootable or downgradable (this way you can revert to older builds).

Got it, country is Norway....
Good news for you, HTC just now begins to roll out 2.50.405.2 update to unbranded DHD in Europe, fixing the previous build wifi issues. [AndroidCentral]

I did send an email to HTC quite awhile ago, at first I thought the phone originated in hong kong. But after sending HTC the serial number of the phone they told me it originated from India. As far as i'm aware people from both India and Hong Kong have received this update already and HTC told me that I should receive the update based on where the phone originated from and yet I still have no update.

[Q] problem with hotspot since updating to 2.3.5

I recently decided to go ahead and do the fota update which took my phone to:
Android version 2.3.5
Htc sense version 2.1
Software number 2.14.161.1
Kernel version 2.6.35.10-ga66971c [email protected] #1
Baseband version 47.23a.35.3035sh_7.53.39.03m
I am using a htc wild fire s a510e unlocked carrier but branded vodafone uk
Before the upgrade I was on android version 2.2.3.
Since the upgrade the hotspot intermittently disconnects, I never had this before the upgrade. Could someone please point me in the direction of a fix or how to drowngrade back to the pervious version that I had no problems with.
Many thanks
