I was just wondering if the was a port of Epic Citadel that worked on wp7? I'd really like to see what it looks like on my HD7.
Not yet possible. Epic citadel is developed using and runs on the unreal engine, which is not supported by WP7

I though that i would be getting some nice smooth games on the wp7 platform but so far they seem to be below par. they seem to handle 2d games reasonably well, but when it comes to 3d they seem to struggle...so far only rocket riot seems to be reasonably smooth....hope its just because wp7 is new and developers are just getting used to it????

yeah I have heard about slow load times on some phones (SD card memory instead of NAND) but never heard of the game actually running slow.
I am disappointed too. I saw a video of Need 4 speed undercover for WP7. Graphics are very poor.
I thought WP7 would be at least equal or better than iPhone for games. But I have some doubts at this stage...
I've been fairly impressed by graphics in for example "The Harvest". Gameplay was smooth, graphics crisp and energetic. Definately much better than anything I've seen on an iPhone.
I'd chalk this up to growing pains. New Platform, Gen 1 releases that were made with beta software and hardware. Even though it's just XNA give developers to learn up from down and you'll start to see better performing and looking titles as they adjust to the platform and really get a hang of its limits and how to optimize their code for the platform.
Even though it's just 1 supported chipset for now, phones could have different snapdragon processors, a better SD card, etc.
I saw a video of 2 wp7 phones and the load time was significantly faster on another. The slower phone was on low batteries though, I haven't seen this test done with the same phones fully charged though. As an aside, does anyone know if wp7 has cpu throttling based on battery life?
Also if you are compairing EA games to others, well its EA. They make poor ports on almost all platforms besides the initial designed device or platform. In time it may inprove but for now I would not be supprised if the EA titles are still better on the iPhone than WP7 currently. Not saying other games don't have the same issue, but if I am right in guessing that its mostly EA games you are disapointed in, the well I am not supprised.
As a summary - poor game indicates poor coding/design.
Even in older HTC, e.g. HD, people were producing amazing quality games - e.g. xtrack.
i.e. most of these windows phone devices are capable of running fluid games - but the developers just arent interested ... or rather, werent.
Things have changed 100% with windows phone 7.
ive downloaded rocket riot which is quite smooth when playing. so no complaints there. maybe this is to do with the block style graphics? but other ive downloaded and are not smooth are Gylder earthworm jim, the harvest. twin blades. max and the magic marker. games should run at a minimum of 30fps. the iphone games look like the run at 60 fps. someone mentioned a point about Xtract, which i have running on the old 528mhz touch diamond 2 with MicroSD memory, not NAND and its still smoother that any wp7 game i have seen so far...... what does that mean??? that my 1ghz NAND memory omnia cant compete with my old touch diamond 2??? somethings not right..........
i agree, i had need for speed on my old 528mhz MicroSD mem touch diamond 2, and the wp7 version really dosnt look any smoother.
I am having a little argument with an iPhone sheep, and I told him the future Android phones will be much smoother for one main reason, they will change the UI acceleration to be handled by the GPU, instead of the cpu now. He said no way, Apple's iPhone will still be smoother, GPU or not, Android will still be choppy, compared to the iPhone.
How do you answer a Apple die hard like that ?
Is there an interview somewhere with Google developers talking about changing to GPU acceleration ?

There's absolutely no reason why Android couldn't run as smooth as the iPhone with the right optimizations and the right hardware. The Evo has two problems. The first is, as you said, that Android isn't using GPU acceleration in the interface, at least not effectively. That's on Google to fix.
The second problem is that the Adreno 200 GPU that's part of the Snapdragon processor we have is not as powerful as what the iPhone has, or even what other Android phones have, such as the Samsung Galaxy S. Even without whatever shifts to the GPU future versions of Android might have, the Galaxy S's Hummingbird is unquestionably smoother than the Evo's Snapdragon. I bought the Evo after the Epic was out and am happy with the choice, but on performance, the Epic was clearly better and arguably comparable to the iPhone in smoothness. So even without any software changes, the next generation of system-on-a-chip platforms (CPU + GPU) will narrow the gap significantly.
Combine both optimized software and better hardware, and it should be able to match the iPhone without a problem.

They're similar. Samsung makes both, but Apple had some hand in the design of the A4. More accurately, a company called Intrinsity, which Apple acquired.

It's unclear exactly what this means for phones right now. Honeycomb is for tablets, but they've also introduced API improvements and behind the scenes enhancements (like this one) that are unquestionably needed for phones.
It's sounding like Ice Cream may be that release, and it's probably going to be announced at Google I/O in May (speculation). It's possible we could see a scaled down version of Honeycomb for phones released before then. It's more a question of timing and names though -- whatever the next release of Android is for phones, I would expect it to have it.
It's even possible folks here will find a way to get Honeycomb working on phones in some form before we see anything official. That might be tough, since we'd want to keep the smaller screen UI of Gingerbread and just pull in the API and implementation improvements we want. But I'm always impressed by what people pull off here.
i altered a line on my old hero to use hw rendering for the ui and junk-it seemed to help a little. perhaps the same line can be tweaked/added for the evo. it was in the build prop i believe...
Hey guys, just wondering if anyone else notices the latency of the touch screen on the epic 4g. I was playing touchmix on it (a touch-based rhythm game) and the game says that galaxy s phones have 200ms lag for the touch screen.
I do notice some latency on the launcher, whether it's launcher pro or touchwiz, or whatever. Just wondering if anyone else has any thoughts on this. Thanks!
I don't know it seems really responsive to me. Maybe all phones are gonna have a slight lag.

We are so restricted in games with this new processor. Android fragmentation lol. But my Photon was a gaming powerhouse. And had optimized games. Best I have seen on a handset, looking better than ps or xbox quality.
I wish a popular gaming company would give us optimized versions of games.

i think there is a pretty solid games list for this and i would imagine as the device gets more and more popular, companies will have no choice but to accommodate this device
Not using current games on Android, because they do not max out our hardware yet, but using specs as a guide where would a maxed out Android game compare with an xbone or Ps4?
I can't swear to it, but I want to think at the Iphone 6 event Apple claimed it would be able to have as good or better graphics than current consoles, and being its' specs aren't up to Android I am just curious

I think android phones evolve quicker than apple so when new technology comes out many handset makers integrate new technology in their devices as it becomes available. I am very impressed with the graphics on this note 4. Gta san andreas plays very smooth.
