Hello everyone. I have wondered if there is a way to overclock HTC Desire over 1190 mHz. and how far keeping it stable?
1305MHz
i found a kernel that should work on all sense/sense hd roms, its by Capychimp or someone who made it OC to 1305MHz. Try it out
Does it work with non-sense roms?
im not sure. i strongly advise not overclocking pass 1900MHz because the phone will heat up when playing minor games like doodle jump and such

i think that 1305 is false walue. it was discused before
I also think it's false value... I tried and took quadrant benchmark and it gave me about 1000 points.
id say no theres no a way to overclock higher then that and you wouldnt want to if you could. stick with stable lvls. i know u wanna get the most out of your device but desire just isnt on par with phones like desire hd, nexus s, or galaxy s. stick with 1190 and if its not fast enough, buy a better phone. but most phones arent super powered quite yet. except the motorola atrix. but after testing the motorola xoom, ill never purchase a moto device again. go htc or google official phones

This is a question for all, but primarily for the devs who have been working with the various Android 2.1 builds.
I have been silently playing with many of the Android 2.1 flavours offered by the various developers posting here at XDA, and have been suitably impressed with all they have managed to accomplish, especially in the absence of the kernel source.
That said, most of the 2.1 ROMS are lacking in some manner (GPS tweaks required, battery life, bluetooth on calls, etc.) and all are slower than the optimized Cupcake ROMS (e.g. the MoDaCo ROMS).
I understand that the performance of the 2.1 ROMS is hampered in large part to the lack of the kernel source but the consistent speed discrepancy between Eclair and Cupcake leads me to the question at hand:
Even if the kernel source were available, does the Hero actually have the horsepower to run Eclair and offer performance similar to Cupcake? Would those of us who want similar performance be best advised to look at devices with a little more under the hood (Nexus One, Desire, etc)?
Devs, what do you think?
The fact of the matter is a 2.1 rom (official) is in development it has been announced and the fact there has been leaks in the CDMA hero shows that it does really exist.
If its being built for the hero then it will work.
Kernel sources will help solve a number of issues we are currently facing in the "custom" roms.
Every phone can do things differently for example 2.1 has live wallpaper support but we will never see this in any official rom as it will not work perfectly on the hero.
With every new leak we are getting closer and closer to what an "official" gsm hero rom will be like, but it will never be the same as for example a desire 2.1 rom.
I'm no dev but if the kernel source for 2.1 was released devs would be able to overclock the Hero so 2.1 ROMs would run much smoother. Also if you look at the Hero compared to its successor (the Legend) the most significant difference is the processor 528 MHz on the Hero and 600 MHz on the Legend. So I personally don't see why the Hero shouldn't get a 2.1+ ROM.
Without any doubt, YES, it does have enough power to run Android 2.1.
From what I have experienced, Eclair 2.1 WITHOUT HTC Sense works as fast as the original 1.5. If it runs like that now, I believe it will go better with an optimized kernel - when the sources will be available. As for the overclock (I would like to add that for me OC is a very important hobby), I don't see the reason why you would like to OC a mobile phone. Overclocking would make battery life go even faster than before, and to charge the Hero everyday... I don't think many of us want something like that.
What I think is the best way to improve a mobile phone performance, considering it runs Android, is to improve the software, not the hardware. After all, it's Linux.
Eclair runs on G1 better than Hero !!
even though Hero is more powerful !!
it's a Kernel and drivers issue
anyway, the update delay probably because of 2.2 (Froyo). it'll be released in May after all..
HTC didn't say that but it'll be dump (even retarded) to give us 2.1 after 2.2 is released !!

I already have to charge my phone everyday becaue I am always playing witht it or text or on the internet... and right now im running Kimera 1.6 Overclocked and it feels as if I get the same if not similar battery life.
The Hero shouldn't be doubted when it comes to being able to run 2.1, as previously mentioned its the other things like live wallpapers that were not developed for this type of CPU.
Whats the crack with the dream running it? did HTC release the sources for the kernel? or just plain ole group hacking?

Same here. The Kimera 1.6 overclocked ROM is amazing. I've been using it for a few days now, and I have to agree the battery life is almost identical to stock 1.5 in my opinion.

Hello Guys,
I'm using DJ Droid Rom on Desire, Question is, DJ Droid Rom Overclock to 1.27Ghz possible?
if yes, then how?
Secondly, I understand that once we OC the snapdragon to 1.27Ghz its basically OC it's GPU as well, and then the 3D Power of Desire also goes up by good bites, right? Can it ever match 3D Gaming and Interface smoothness as on stronger devices with this OC activated?
For example this game runs sooooo smooth on MileStone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQ7qbqSnLU0&feature=related
and Soooo bad/laggy on Desire... :/ will it get fixed soon with better snapdragon GPU support by game developers?
Third, I understand that HTC Sense isn't yet supported by GPU, Any patch to enable it? would it work smoother then?
Thanks!
Which game specifically?
Raging Thunder is the only one I know out of a quick skim of the video? How is it for you? If it's not really smooth, try a different ROM - because it's perfect for me.
Hello Guys,
I decided to try out a new benchmark called Smartbench 2010. However when i run it, it gives me pretty low scores - about 800/1100 which i find kinda funny cos for example G2 has 1100/1400. So i was wondering if anybody tried this app already on the DHD and what are the results. The system runs smooth so it is not a real issue, but im curious....
I got 900/1300
Stock ROM. Not rooted.
I was about to create the same thread until I found this one. I have a rooted DHD using custom rom: ARHD 2.0.14, OC 1,2ghz. These are my scores:
410/692
Tried with USB-debugging mode ON: 781/1151.
Could someone with knowledge let us know why we get low scores? The phone itself runs smoothly as mentioned in first post.
I would like to know this too.
I got 983/1434
Stock ROM
i got 1500/1941 got 1577/2251 at 1.51 ghz on cm7
Bumb
Anymore news on this?
I am also interested why the DHD gets such a low score compared to a G2, or the myTouch 4G which scores even higher and has the same chipset as our phone.
Probably only software issues, right?
Sorry for waking up an old topic.
1129/1620 on CM7 Nightly #31, 1.2GHz
Could be better huh
will post mine after i install CoreDroid HD GB 2.3.3 V4.8
i got 1113/1135
Stock Unlocked,Unbranded DHD
I tried several builds of CoreDroid, which had different drivers and kernels and the score is still quite low, as well as on the stock ROM... It would be great if anyone would post gingerbread scores even if its still leak...
just ran benchmark 2011 with coredroid 5.0 gingerbread rom got 955/1195 not to bad on standard kernal
i got 1453/1643 on 1.5ghz CM7 build #31
So we have results from 600 - 1500 . This means this benchmark is rubbish and tells us close to nothing about anything...
Get over it guys
^^ agreed!
My benchmark scores are terrible, just short of 1100. According to the benchmark app, quadrant, I am very under average compared to most Evos. What are some mode, roms, hacks, etc that I can run to get back to at least average, if not higher? I'm currently trying out Mik Z and I typically run either MikFroyo or Konikub's Elite Series II.
I know that those numbers look great when they are high, but the real test is...does your phone feel fast? Dont put too much faith in those benchmarks, your eyes, and hands will tell you if your phone is fast or not. Cheers!

The phone works perfectly on every rom I've used except CM7 (I used the wimax alpha, so it wasn't perfect for me). Very fast, iPhone fast even. However, I know that our UI is processor based and not graphics based (so our Adreno 200 doesn't have to process the home screens and such). This is strictly because I've seen Evos run 1700s and I'd like to try to get it.
Most of the roms that run 1300 and above are aosp roms. And it also depends on overclock speed and and kernel. it isn't just about choosing the right rom but the right combination of rom kernel and clock speed. it is basically trial and error. This website was started by skydeaner and it is a review of several different roms and kernels. It is a good website for the information that you want and can help minimize the amount of trial and error. hope this helped

well you also have to keep in mind every phone is going to act different. Some phones can over clock much higher than others. Some kernals play well with one phone, and terrible with another.
So you could exactly match my setup, overclocked exactly the same, everything, and yet one phone or the other is going to almost always be faster.
I know my phone doesn't seem to have issues one way or another betweem BFS and CFS kernals, but some people I know, and I've seen people say it on here, their phones really only handle one or the other very well.
but as the other guy said, if you want fast speeds, dump the sense roms, AOSP, specially GB is going to be much faster.
Gb is fast. Cm7 with savagedzen cfs at 1190mhz averages 1500-1700 I have gotten 1400 with mikfroyo 4.5 and netarchy 4.3.2 cfs more have.

Yup that is very true. I agree with you in every word that you just said. Especially about dumping sense and picking up aosp

Hello,
I am new to HTC Wildfire, I have rooted it, installed cwm, flashed various ROMS (cyanogenmod family). Now I have noticed that every single rom is much like very slow or laggy or how to say it, i mean user interface reacts way too slow etc. I have Xperie X10 mini, which is also let's say old phone, but i.e. on cyanogemnod 7.2 it runs hell fluently.
Am I missing something? I have never seen such a slow phone. -- That said, I just want to know if "yes, this is it, this is wildfire" or am i missing something to do to make it fluent.
Thank you and cheers!

1) this is wildfire
2) try sense roms rather than cyanogen roms
3) i hope you do overclock your phone.
4) the fastest rom is jokerdroid 4.3, rempuzzle, jokerdroid 4.2
The above roms are all sense based roms. They will comparatively be faster.
X10 mini has an adreno 200 gpu if im not mistaken whereas wildfire has none. So everything including graphics run through the cpu on a wildfire, whereas on x10 the graphics run through the gpu greatly freeing up the cpu.

sorry for being honest, i'm also not going to offend you in any way (; why do people are so stupid?? firstly, if you start ur adventure with rooting, roms etc. then why you install cyanogen as ur first custom rom?? i can't get it. cyanogen roms are not so easy to set them up to be fast. you have to try different kernels, different cpu settings (and trust me, 768mhz isn't faster than 729 for example in that case), different scripts and everything to have more effective working wildfire. of course it is typical low end, i probably won't be wrong when i say that it is one of the weakest android phones, but if you know what u do then you can make it faster than any better phone. of course not in games because of gpu. i recommend to you to nake ext partition, install rem puzzle or any other sense rom. then read something about setting up your phone with cyanogen roms and still try, like in logical game and i have to prevent you that cm9 and other ics roms also are not as fast as stock or modded sense roms again, sorry for being honest and sometimes rude. i don't want to offend anyone here and it is my opinion about it and i think that all of you will agree with me :3
Wysyłane z mojego HTC Wildfire za pomocą Tapatalk 2
As i said before comparing it x10 mini is not a fair comparison because of willies lack of gpu, I agree with poster above that with some work cm roms can be improved but straight out of the box it does take a bit of work to keep it that way.
Wildfire is a great phone and would have been, if not was the best of its time in its price range. The problem it has now is it cannot compete with other phones that moved into that price range simply because it lacks a gpu, it doesn't matter about overclocking or scripts, the way android runs itself causes the problem for a gpu'less phone with a small cpu.
