Hi,
I was flashing the latest Miui gingerbread rom and accidently flashed the X-Parted data2ext version, instead of my usual d2w, Since flashing and running the d2ext rom I have been getting this error whilst trying to flash a stable rom(Miui gingerbeard not stable),
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
(file exists)
Error mounting /sd-ext/!
Skipping format...
I have formatted ext partition manually through g-parted, deleted partition and re-partitioned formatted the entire sd card changed ext types but as yet cannot remove the problem, I have had the same issue before with Miui, but formatting solved it.
I have also tried googling this but none of the solutions match my problem nor are they particularly easy to follow.
Can any1 help??

As I posted many times, this error:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
(file exists)
Error mounting /sd-ext/!
Skipping format...

happens, when card is not partitioned/wrongly partitioned.
If you use Gparted first create the FAT32 partition and then the EXT partition(s). And make all of the PRIMARY, not logical.

I have a Kingston 1GB MicroSD (SDC/1GB) which I can't Mount in CWM.
I get the following error
Code:
E:Can't Mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk1)
(Invalid Argument)
E:Can't Mount /sdcard
I have tried the following
Format SD In stock 2.1 FW
Format SD in windows
diskpart clean in windows, format w/format on phone
diskpart clean in windows, format w/windows 4096 block size
diskpart clean in windows, format w/diskpart 4096 block size
diskpart clean in windows, format w/ldm automatic settings for fat32
diskpart clean in windows, format w/ panasonic sdformater v2.0
Try to format in CWM and I get the following
Code:
Formatting SDCARD:...
E:Can't Mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk1)
(Invalid Argument)
E:Can't Mount /sdcard/!
Skipping Format...
Done.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm going to try finding another SD Card after work.
Thanks
Edit: Also, card works fine mounted in windows and in android
What does [Q] mean? I'm seeing a lot of these in posts lately.

I believe it means it's a Question Thread. Such as [ROM] and [Theme].

Good catch. I just I'm just confused why questions are threads in the Development section. They should either go inside an existing thread that has to do with the question or in the General section. [Q] Don't you agree?
Either way got another sd card and now it works, this can be closed
What did you do to fix it?
I am having a similar issue with my C800.

Is this me doing it wrong or is there some bug? I'm able to install roms just not this one.
EDIT: i've tried the desireZ rom aswell and that failed. I also noticed the line "E:Can't mount SDEXT:" and tried an sd card with an ext3 partition but it then failed to mount the fat32 (/sdcard) partition but was able to mount the ext partiton (/sd-ext). From what I've been reading its because it doesn't have an ext partition, but as I said when I do it then doesn't mount the non-ext partition.
I too was having similar issues and found that re-partitioning and formatting the card did the trick. Also I had a 700mb partition before which I have increased to 1gb.

Had the same problem myself.I ended up putting a stock rom on to access market place, installed rom manager which I partitioned with then ran hd rom and it worked.Only problem I have now is its stuck in a boot loop lol and not sure how to fix it but hey good luck.
Cool. Got it to work, using stigslim's method of using ROM manager had a slight issue with it saying the Rom wasn't signed but I turned off the verification then it worked fine. No boot loop.did use the wrong SD card though. *Facepalm*
thanks
Can you tell me what procedure you went through in recovery, if I follow your tracks I might get rid of the restart problem I have.cheers

what did u do ?
Exact same error as I got yesterday.. had to restore my sd card and restore to previous state. I assume there's something causing this rom to fail.
Trying to install RCHDMIX but when trying to mount SD-EXT get an error.
When I tried to mount it in RA Mon Recovery I got an error message saying "E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0) (No such device) I have tried several cards but all the same.
I have tried the adb method - fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
Still nothing.
Please help!
Thanks!
Do you have an ext partition on your sd card? If not use amon ra to create one
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
yep has a partition. First one is fat32 the other is ext3 created with amonra
I think your ext partition has some problems.
You may try to backup and reformat it using lunux.
I've created a ~500mb ext2 partition on my sdcard on redux custom rom 1.0.2 on htc desire. However, Link2sd doesn't seem to like this partition (complains that it can't mount and can't write a script to automount at boot), but then I read that redux comes with something installed already. However, it doesn't seem to be using the partition properly.
Mount shows up thus:
#mount
...
/dev/block/mmcblk0p2 on /sd-ext type ext2 (rw,noatime,nodiratime,barrier=1,data=ordered)
...
Any suggestions about what I need to do to get this partition used as part of the system storage?
Thanks in advance.
Try ext3 / ext4.
AFAIK ext2 is no longer supported in the scripts.
According to EASEUS partition Manager this partition is already ext3, but according to my mount command above it's ext2 - now I'm really confused. . Any other suggestions?
Hi there,
I do have similar problems.
After flashing latest Redux2 Rom, my Desire refuses to mount my SD-Card. I'm not able to see it in the Settings, nor am i able to flash or Restore anything from it in Recovery mode.
After trying going to "Flash zip from sdcard" i get the Error:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
(No sich file or direktory)
E:Can't mount SDCARD:
I already tried the SD-Card in another phone and it's working proberly. I Already formated it on the other phone and tried formating it in Recovery.
As a result i'm also unable to reRoot it with unRevoked as the Phone won't go into USB mode...
Any suggestions how i might fix this problem?

Use the search. Problem got solved very often.
I created a ext2 partition using CWM when I installed my JJ Hybrid 3.1 ROM. I can mount the ext2 with Link2SD without any problems.
After I had updated to 3.2, I seemed to have lost the partition. When I launched Link2SD, it asked my to mount but I received a mount script error.
Here's the error:
Mount script cannot be created.
mount: mounting /dev/block/vold/179:2 on /data/sdext2 failed: Invalid argument
ext2 may not be supported on your device. Try FAT32 on the second partition.

I have not try mounting it using FAT32 yet though because I previously mounted in ext2.
What is the problem?
You'll need to wipe the sd-ext2, and re-install link2sd. Back up your apps or move them to internal storage first.
You mean to wipe my ext2 partition using Link2SD? (Clean up the 2nd partition)
However, upon selecting that option it gives me this error
/data/sdext2 mount not found

Does that mean my partition is missing? I had to partition it again? Does updating ROM caused the partition to disappear?
