I have a Kingston 1GB MicroSD (SDC/1GB) which I can't Mount in CWM.
I get the following error
Code:
E:Can't Mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk1)
(Invalid Argument)
E:Can't Mount /sdcard
I have tried the following
Format SD In stock 2.1 FW
Format SD in windows
diskpart clean in windows, format w/format on phone
diskpart clean in windows, format w/windows 4096 block size
diskpart clean in windows, format w/diskpart 4096 block size
diskpart clean in windows, format w/ldm automatic settings for fat32
diskpart clean in windows, format w/ panasonic sdformater v2.0
Try to format in CWM and I get the following
Code:
Formatting SDCARD:...
E:Can't Mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk1)
(Invalid Argument)
E:Can't Mount /sdcard/!
Skipping Format...
Done.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm going to try finding another SD Card after work.
Thanks
Edit: Also, card works fine mounted in windows and in android

Good catch. I just I'm just confused why questions are threads in the Development section. They should either go inside an existing thread that has to do with the question or in the General section. [Q] Don't you agree?
Either way got another sd card and now it works, this can be closed
What did you do to fix it?
I am having a similar issue with my C800.

I just used Amon Ra recovery to create an ext4 partition on my sd. Went fine, but now I've switched back to Clockworkmod recovery and every time it starts/I go back to main menu I get this error:
"E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 (File exists)
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 (File exists)
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 (File exists)
That first line shows up as well whenever I've tried to wipe dalvik cache for the last few months.
This whole error shows up when I try to create a backup as well right when it starts to backup cache, then just stops. doesn't backup cache or ext partition and doesn't generate md5 sum.

I tried that fix twice, but I keep getting this:
/dev/block/mmcblk0p2 has unsupported feature<s>: extents gdt_checksum
e2sfck:Get a newer version of e2sfck!
and clockwork continues with the same errors at the main menu.
EDIT: Upon typing "e2fsck /dev/block/mmcblk0p2" in adb shell, I get the error "/sbin/sh: e2fsck: not found".

sounds like you trashed your internal EXT2 partitions.....I did the same with amon recovery..........here is the post I used to fix the situation:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/6433-solved-messed-up-partitions-on-internal-storage/
after I did this procedure, I had to unroot back to stock, then unrevoked again.

WTH man that sucks. all just because of retarded Amon ra ext partitioning for an sd card.

I thought I was changing my sd card from ext2 to ext4, too...... and somehow ended up changing the internal to ext4........took a little research to get it fixed.

That's odd. I used it just the other day to partition my SD card with 512mb sd-ext, 32mb swap, and the rest as FAT32 and it worked flawlessly. Something that clockwork couldn't do, mind you.

I worked, perfectly, to do that for me............it went awry when I tried to change the partition from ext2 to ext4. The new clockwork has the ability to partition your sd card in it..........but now I am gun shy to try.
I knew clockwork has problems partitioning sd, so I stayed away from it. That's why I used Amon Ra to get it done. did partition sd, then did ext2 to ext3 then to ext4. Then flashed back to Clockwork and next thing I know this problem comes up.
I had this same problem last night. I fixed it by going into ROM manager and reflashing clockwork
I tried reflashing recoveries, but that didn't work. I went through the process that was posted above and it fixed it, although I didn't have to RUU back or anything. I just formatted everything on my phone, pushed the 6 files and ran the parted program, then all was fine. Did the partition on my sd again to ext4 and now it works

clockworkmod, at least 2.5.0.5, can't handle ext4 partitions.

I'm on 2.5.0.5 and have an ext4 (that works now) and it seems fine.

Interesting. When I created an sd-ext partition ext4 clockwork wouldn't recognize it, giving me the same errors above. Switching it to ext2 worked fine.
Issue started after a nandroid backup (using clockwork 2.5.0.5). Backup froze, i ended up pulling the battery. When i go back into clockwork to try the backup again i now get the following:
clockwork recovery v2.5.0.5
e:can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 (file exists)
e:can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
e:can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 (file exists)
e:can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
e:can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 (file exists)
I wiped cache, factory reset, wiped dalvik. Even tried formatting boot system, system, data and cache. Was able to reload stock 2.1 through hboot, re-rooted, but get same error and cannot get clockwork to mount sd-card to go any higher.
When I try to mount sd-card through clockwork the following appears:
e:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk1) (no such file or directory)
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Is the SD card full?
Absent that, perhaps make a copy of the SD card on PC, reformat FAT32, place last known working backup on SD and see if you can restore that backup.
If that fails, perhaps d/l another ROM on PC, transfer to SD card, flash, see what you get.
I tried two different sdcards. Both were formatted as fat32. From the articles i have looked at i think i may have screwed up the internal storage. Followed this article:
h t t p://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/6433-solved-messed-up-partitions-on-internal-storage
They say to run "parted /dev/block/mmcblk0 mkfs ext2". When i do that it formats the sdcard to ext2. Still have the same issue. Doesn't appear to see the internal at all.
What command can i run from adb shell to display all the storage, volumes or partitions the system i can see?
Again any help is greatly appreciated!
I think just typing command 'mount' will list all mounts.

I've created a ~500mb ext2 partition on my sdcard on redux custom rom 1.0.2 on htc desire. However, Link2sd doesn't seem to like this partition (complains that it can't mount and can't write a script to automount at boot), but then I read that redux comes with something installed already. However, it doesn't seem to be using the partition properly.
Mount shows up thus:
#mount
...
/dev/block/mmcblk0p2 on /sd-ext type ext2 (rw,noatime,nodiratime,barrier=1,data=ordered)
...
Any suggestions about what I need to do to get this partition used as part of the system storage?
Thanks in advance.
Try ext3 / ext4.
AFAIK ext2 is no longer supported in the scripts.
According to EASEUS partition Manager this partition is already ext3, but according to my mount command above it's ext2 - now I'm really confused. . Any other suggestions?
Hi there,
I do have similar problems.
After flashing latest Redux2 Rom, my Desire refuses to mount my SD-Card. I'm not able to see it in the Settings, nor am i able to flash or Restore anything from it in Recovery mode.
After trying going to "Flash zip from sdcard" i get the Error:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
(No sich file or direktory)
E:Can't mount SDCARD:
I already tried the SD-Card in another phone and it's working proberly. I Already formated it on the other phone and tried formating it in Recovery.
As a result i'm also unable to reRoot it with unRevoked as the Phone won't go into USB mode...
Any suggestions how i might fix this problem?

Hi,
I was flashing the latest Miui gingerbread rom and accidently flashed the X-Parted data2ext version, instead of my usual d2w, Since flashing and running the d2ext rom I have been getting this error whilst trying to flash a stable rom(Miui gingerbeard not stable),
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
(file exists)
Error mounting /sd-ext/!
Skipping format...
I have formatted ext partition manually through g-parted, deleted partition and re-partitioned formatted the entire sd card changed ext types but as yet cannot remove the problem, I have had the same issue before with Miui, but formatting solved it.
I have also tried googling this but none of the solutions match my problem nor are they particularly easy to follow.
Can any1 help??

happens, when card is not partitioned/wrongly partitioned.
If you use Gparted first create the FAT32 partition and then the EXT partition(s). And make all of the PRIMARY, not logical.
I am having problems with clockwork recovery.

E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcb1k0p2

E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcb1k0p2

I am running stock un-rooted, s-off. I ran OTA.
I know exactly what the problem is. My internal storage of my phone wont mount.
I have read a lot of things on how to mount your internal storage. A lot of people say you just have to reboot your phone.
That didn't work.
I know the problem is defiantly not the SD card. I tried 5 different ones.
I read somewhere to remount internal storage you have to take phone apart and put internal storage chip back in.
I can't format internal storage, because it is grayed out in the option under SD card setting.
What can I do. I think I have tried everything?
Please help.

Hi,
I don't understand how you can be running unrooted but using cwm?
But I'll guess you are rooted and having problems mounting /cache (dev: /dev/block/mmcb1k0p2) which is an ext3 fs.
I had same messages for the /emmc fs, but that is msdos/fat32, so a slightly different 'cure'.
I used adb shell (or you could use term emulator) to do something like this:
su ; fsck /dev/block/mmcb1k0p2 // look up the correct qualifiers, but I think it'll default to something acceptable. Tell it to repair as needed. Reboot.
For my case I used "fsck_msdos /dev/{whateverThePathWas} and it repaired it and it mounted.
Note: Replacing , replugging the internal storage sounds iffy because all of it is on a single chip which is soldered onto the board. /dev/block/mtd* are only offsets into flash, not anything separate. It seems like more of a format issue or bad blocks.
Good luck
Hashi
PS: Depending on ROMs (I baked my own) , you might not have fsck* but I think you will. Also, some ROMs may use init.d to force an fsck already and this won't work if it did that. Worth a shot.

I kind of have an idea what you mean, but I am just rooted on stock ROM, and I don't think that has fsck, but I don't even know what that is.
I punched in that command into terminal emulator as follows:
#su ; fsck /dev/block/mmcb1k0p2 //
#
All I got in return was a hash, I rebooted, and problem wasn't fixed yet.
I am also not sure what you mean by, "look up the correct qualifiers."
fsck: permission denied is what I get when I just type that in.
Thank you. I think that I am on the right track.
