Yes I searched, but the xda app doesn't have a very good function.
I had ACS.ROM for awhile and I'm pretty sure that's when I had a true signal indicator as opposed to the permanent "3g"
Does anyone know where I can get JUST the flashable indicator for my stock ROM?
From what I've read, it wouldn't be as simple as flashing a theme or mod, the 1x/3g indicators are deeper in the framework.
That sucks. I haven't really read anything about what's involved. I just know I had one at some point and it was gorgeous. Hah.
You need a modified services.jar that's where its enabled. You then also, need the correct images in framework-res.apk

Dammit, Mystery. Why couldn't you say something like "Here, flash this zip!"
I wish there was a flashable zip that would install a modded framework-res.apk.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
Yeah flashable zips, I'm good at. I got mad zip flashin' skills.
You could always just flash SFR if you want the 1x indicator, I mean you do have "mad zip flashin' skills" so it would be easy.
Haha. BTDT. I flashed it like a mofo but we didn't get along too well.

How's that? We'd be happy to help get it working perfectly for you. You can drop by the IRC channel in my signature any time.
Nub question: What is 1x anyway?
1X is 2G data & voice/sms access.
1x is voice/sms access.

Try updating profile/prl in system updates and reboot. If that doesn't fix it contact sprint and have them attempt to push it through reactivation.
But no, simply rooting the device will not solve the problem you're explaining. If the above steps don't work, just swap it out?? Clearly its not a widespread issue and likely has something to do with its activation.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
Assuming you or he already updated the profile and PRL correctly and talked with Sprint (while on the phone to assure it is registered correctly!) I'd recommend using sfhub's stock root [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1433101] This provides a clean start with el29 modem, kernal and stock ROM, and provides root access. Since he's having problems I'd do a FULL restore (reset user data). I'd then use Auto Root with CWM - option C [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342728]. That will give you a stock rooted phone with CWM for recovery and additions. Make sure all works. That may be enough. It could be just horrible reception at his place. Might want to check out an Airave device. There are also posts on how to tweak 3g/4g speeds [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1265990] Then if all is working maybe think about another ROM. I'm loving Blazer. Calkulin's and Strong Steve's are also super. Good luck.

Maybe some of you on custom ROMs have noticed that your second core functions strange, which would also mean terrible battery life and abnormally hot phones.
Well, this is due to something causing the cores to switch governors to "performance" upon boot. The only way to fix it is from a script or other app that controls CPU. That's not all. The second core seems to not function according to specs. It will either always stay on, or always stay off. mpdecision doesn't appear to work properly.
Well, I've narrowed this down to "samsungani" and "samsungpowersound" which are located in /system/bin/. Removing these at an attempt to get custom boot animations working and to get rid of boot sounds are what's causing the funky core behaviors.
The fix is to restore the two files and chmod them 755 as well as chgrp to 2000 to get them back to the way they're supposed to be.
I'm not sure if any of this effects custom kernels but it sure does on the Stock kernel.
The file I uploaded will restore the samsungani and samsungpowersoundplay files to /system/bin/ as well as copy over silent PowerOn and PowerOff sounds.
Wow that's awesome that you figured this out. Great job!!

Sure I can provide a zip, give me a bit.
Does this do anything to the cpusleeper app (eugene)? Not the script, but the actual app for those who have it installed? Will the zip you provide defeat the need for the app? Thanks for any additional info!

Nah, the zip will only be adding those files back to /system//bin/ if they were removed, like in order to get support for custom boot animations.
Is it "samsungpowersoundplay" ?

Just flashed it rom definitively seems alot more responsive I was seeing the lag and just had some plain weird stuff going on glad we have a dev lime you to find stuff like this and squash it. Do we need to flash this after we flash a rom obviously your rom will have the fix so I'm not worried about it but for others who arent using your rom.
Edit: is there any way I can test to insure both cores are doing what they are supposed to be doing like an app per say

Well, it really only will matter if your current ROM includes a different boot animation and/or removes those files. In any other case, it will do nothing.

OK thanks again love the rom I know you get asked this a lot but if you ever need a tester let me know I use to test for mijuah but my son stole my s2 so I'm bored now lol.
Zip applied, and I had to duplicate the process to confirm what I thought I saw:
Been running blazer 1.6 for a few days now and I honestly don't know what (if any) boot animations are built into that rom, but in the spirit of testing (and flash addiction) I used this zip.
This is what I noticed (and duplicated to confirm)--
Chainfire's live dmesg/logcat (I used paid versions) were replaced by this zip file.
When I "reinstalled" the first attempt found no boot animation files. I attempted install again and this time it did indeed "repair" the logcat/dmesg boot screen.
This is my first dual core so I have no experience in these apps working or not on such phones.
If this is wide spread then perhaps chainfire might want to look into an update to his code, if this is specific to the sgs3 then maybe we have deeper issues to delve into.
Sprint...LF9...Blazer1.6...no other customizations

I think it could be to appease the mass idiots out there. "I'm not getting 4G, but at least I'm getting 3G."
I think it might be so you don't realize how often you aren't getting 3G. When I've had that mod on other phones, I was amazed how often it would just say 1X, but it did explain why everything was taking so long. It might also get you to think everyone else's 3G network sux when you are roaming. "Verizon 3G is this bad?!? I'm never leaving."
I'm using a business PRL so I have true 3g roaming on Verizon which just ticks me off more when I get faster speeds on VZ.

I've been editing the smali trying to figure out with line needs to be removed. Either I missed it completely, or for once I'm not getting less than 3g speeds in my house.
Go to the Themes and Apps section, find the morphs, and flash the silk SystemUI. It has stock theme and it's got 1x/3g indicator enabled.

If you have a custom recovery you can flash the silk ui from the morphs and mods topic by Rompnit (found in themes and apps section) , not quite stock but it does have working 1X/3G built in.
Edit: Looks like Overstew beat me to it... Darn

I know we have made big strides in finally being able to tether now on jellybean now which is awesome, thanks to TREVE. So what I wanted to know is would we finally be able to get the sprint native hotspot to work now as a hack. Would it be possible for anyone to work on this. I know questions may came up as why I would want that. My answer to do that is I believe its more stable, also it doesn't cause my phone to battery to go hot and I do not have to reboot my device when I would like to use regular wifi for things such like wifi-direct etc. After using wifi tether if I would like to connect to my home router I would have to reboot phone. Another thing is that there are apps that require that you use sprint hotspot such as KIES AIR which I use from time t time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ig=f anyone wants to know Im stock rooted LG7 odexed.

No. This does seem like the way to go, and I'm sure it will come about eventually. We went through this on the Epic4G as well, and someone did find a way to make it work, though it took a long time.

Yeah I was looking for this today when my home DSL dropped, as I had it previously on the Epic 4g and Epic Touch.
rujelus22 had a great thread that explained how he enabled the hack for the Epic touch here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1760712
Also, there is a JB leak for the Epic touch which did hotspot tether by default (it didn't check for the plan) so maybe we could even just take that APK and put it on the S3...
Would any developers be able to follow what he did?

I've decompiled framework and am looking for the statements to change but no luck yet. Anyone out there willing to assist me in finding what needs to change?

Bump, I've been looking at these files along with someone in the ET4G forum and we've been at a standstill for a while. It would be really nice to get some extra eyes on this problem. Not only would a hacked hot spot give a way to infrastructure tether, but would most likely open up native usb and bluetooth tethering (touchwiz) as well. And the edits would likely be very similar on the vzw S3. In other words kill a bunch of birds with one stone.
I know the treve hot spot works and is an awesome solution for most use cases, but there are other things we could do with a proper hacked hot spot as provided on the Epic and ET4G (prior to JB)

Its not "easy" to do it and look good. But it is easy to just change them.
Learn APKTOOL!
Find the icons you want to change
Recompile and enjoy
Im sorry i cant just explain it, it all takes time to do. Its not really something you can explain in a single post. Ive played with changing images for years. Only in the last few years have i actually posted something.
Give it time, devs are working on projects. we are too. the new update changed everything, only minor changes but everything has to be rewritten.

For just changing png's like he's asking to do you don't need APKTOOL it can be done with 7zip.
The NC2 and NB7 International roms both have all the T-Mobile 4G LTE icons in the SystemUI.apk so they can be copied and renamed.
But it is pretty hard to explain how to do it in a post.
