I unrooted my HTC Evo 4G yesterday and its back to stock but my S is Off and I want to know if i can turn my s-on using the Unrevoked S-On Tool.
You would have to re-root, run the s-on tool, then unroot. Its this way because the s-on tool has to be flashed in recovery. So in the future, always run the s-on tool before the RUU.
yes whats he said...LOL.....good luck man
Thanks for the help guys,i re rooted my phone and got my s-on.all went out great and everything is working fine.
Glad to hear it went as such.

I rooted the Inc back in June with Unrevoked and it was S-off. I recently flashed skyraider 3.5 as well as the 6 bar signal roms. When I rebooted into bootloader today I found out the phone was on S-on again. How do I change it back to s-off?
go to www.unrevoked.com and download unrevoked forever S-OFF patch, and flash it via clockwork recovery.
When my phone did this it got all messed up, I flashed a ROM and it went to S-ON and bricked my phone. I was able to get it back to S-ON and stock recovery for a refurb luckily.
Got it thanks!

You're welcome. Do you remember what happened before it turned back to S-ON. Did you flash a ROM or anything? When mine did this my phone was fubared to the max.

YOU ARE Doing these well, if you flash ARev.HD later you can go back flashing an stok rom take this link for choose your OFFICIAL RUU...
http://xdafil.es/index.php?path=DesireHD/RUU/
but i think that if you taste a cooked rom you are not going back to RUU OFFICIAL ROM hahahah
CERTAINLY.. have you made HBOOT S OFF ENG-SPL????(its fully reversible flashing an stok rom) and It makes possible to recover the system of a bad flash recovery...
sorry for my bad english
What I think SERGI.3210 is trying to say, is that you need ENG HBoot or ENG S-OFF before you can flash radios.
Here are the threads you should read,
ENG S-OFF
RADIO S-OFF
I did not flash (well, I dont think I did) hboot and i don't now how to do this either the tekst in bootloader says this:
ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-0.85.0007
RADIO-26.03.02.26_M
eMMC-boot
How do I make HBOOT S OFF ENG-SPL and is their a way to check if I already have it?
And what does this do?

uups!!! thanks andyharney! i forgot to put that you need ENG S-OFF to flash radios!!
certainly... take this XDA´S LINK for go back to OFICIAL RUU:
http://xdafil.es/index.php?path=DesireHD/RUU/
Use the ENG S-OFF tool in the first link to get ENG S-OFF. Without this you cannot flash radio.img's via fastboot.
Once you have ENG S-OFF use the other link to get Radio S-OFF. The tools are very easy to use and 99.9999999999999999% safe.
I took another look at the article i used to root and it said this:
you will have permanent root (S-OFF), as well as subsidy unlock and SuperCID. At this point, you can also choose to flash the engineering hboot
If you don't want the engineering hboot, just reboot your phone. You can verify you have permanent root by holding volume down while powering on (you'll see S-OFF in the first line of the bootloader). You are now free to install a new recovery and start flashing custom ROMs. If you don't want to flash a new ROM, it's safe to uninstall the Visionary app at this point.
Does this mean i already have radio S-OFF?

Well then use the revolutionary unroot, then re-root.
For future reference, if you take it in for repair, you don't have to be S-ON, you just need to have the stock latest stock Rom.
KJ
I rooted with revolutionary and wanted to know the quickest way to get s-on going to flash my stock back up because I'm upgrading my phone. Any help is really appreciated
y do you need to unroot to upgrade? are you trading your phone in?
Yea upgrading to evo 3d compliments of sprint
id say check out this thread. the key is to check that you have s-on, correct hboot version and KEEP you sd card as it will have different partitions, folders and files on it that if gone through can give it away.

finishing up now so far everything is going good im back to stock just waiting to see if the s-on sticks
alright this worked great traded the phone to sprint S-ON and back to stock thanks a lot of the direction just made my upgrade to the Samsung Epic Touch
I rooted my phone (using Revolutionary found here: http://www.pocketables.com/2011/08/how-to-gain-s-off-and-then-root-the-latest-gingerbread-ota-for-htc-evo-4g.html) and decided to go back to stock since I'm getting a new phone soon so I followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780141 to unroot. I tried running the unrevoked zip and it failed with and error of "unsupported radio version." So I proceeded to flash the PC136IMG file (I know - I shouldn't have done this yet) which succeeded, but I still have S-OFF and "unlocked" in my bootloader. Shouldn't it be S-ON to be completely stock? If so, how do I get it back to S-ON now that I am all updated on a stock ROM?
Thanks.
Your phone wasn't rooted with Unrevoked, therefore, that method won't work. Try this guide instead.

Also, S-off and root are not the same thing. Here's a good article that explains the difference.

Sent from my EVO using xda premium
They usually won't even care that its rooted, just as long as it is in working condition.
