[Q] New CM7 question - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I updated my DInc to CM7 and updated the kernel to the latest Incredikernal version.
Two days ago, I noticed that I had no 3G connection at all, but could still make phone calls/send SMS. I updated to the latest build (33 I think) and the issue still persists. What next?

Try goin to rc4 see ifit fixes wait to flash kernel cw just may hav not wiped properly
sent from dinc

I heard there were problems with RC4 and Build 33 so im still on build 32.

Just a quick update - I did a *228 after posting this question - thought it might have something to do with Verizon as they are updating my area to the 4G LTE and my wife's phone (DInc - unrooted) was having similar issues. Upon doing the *228 and waiting about 15 minutes, everything was back to working normally. Just a heads up if others are having similar issues.

[Q] CyanogenMod 7.0.0-RC2 (HTC Vision)

Had great success with CyanogenMod 7 RC1 and the #12 nightly (from 3/2/2011) on my G2.
Just wrapped up a quick flash to RC-2, but quickly started seeing weirdness, namely a continuous reboot to the CyanogenMod 7 bootup animation (blue skating android). Has anyone else ran into this on RC2 on the G2?
For now, restoring my nandroid backup from the #12 nightly which seemed pretty solid.
Also, fwiw, any US T-mobile users running into GPS issues (not locking) on the newest radio (26.06.02.27), I can confirm downgrading the radio back to 26.03.02.26 fixed this problem in my scenario.
Yes, same behavior. No idea about the radio and GPS. Just got my G2 today
I had the same issue when I went from RC1 to RC2, it kept rebooting so I just turned it off and it rebooted normal and has been working good ever since, maybe I just got lucky, idk.

If you're having bootloops try to do a reflash of the zip and reboot.
Many GPS issues have been fixed in the latest couple nightlies. For many people flashing the new radio doesn't work.
I've had GPS issues for a while on the stock T-mo radio, and it works fine now with the latest nightlies.
For detailed posts and info on the GPS, go read the nightly forum, there's 100000 posts on it.

Also can go other way. Fixed my GPS No Lock problem in CM7-RC1 going from 26.03.02.26 to 26.06.02.27
Perhaps it doesn't matter what radio you use, it just needs the radio to be flashed??? (YMMV, I'm still newb-ish)

CM7 N100-N101 dropped stuff during flash

After flashing CM7 N100 & N101, I had to re-flash my gapps & GPS fix zips. I hadn't had to do that since first flashing those & generally flashing a Nightly every night.
On N101, I've had 3g dropping off on me & a notification telling me I've lost connection to my home... then it drops off but I has a header of International Roam.
I'm about to go back to N99 but I was wondering if anybody else has noticed these things.
Have you?
nope. and 102 works fine too
There its a nightly thread specifically for discussing nightlys already

[Q] Calkulin's mod (1.3a), phone reboots on its own

Hello everyone,
Couple of days ago I upgraded my E4GT to Calkulin's 1.3a (from a previous version). Since then, I noticed the phone reboots on its own at least once a day and sometimes I miss calls (this might be Sprint's fault though).
This is what I have installed right now:
Code:
Android version: 4.0.3
Baseband version: S:D710.10 S.EL29
Kernel version: 3.0.15-SPH-D710.FC24-CL287574 [email protected] #3
Build number: Calkulins.E4GT.2.ROM.v1.3a
Hardware version: D710.10
The reason my baseband is EL29 is because I read somewhere that newer versions do not support GPS as of yet.
Can someone show me the way please?
Thank you very much
I'm on 1.3a and have super fast gps. I'm on all fc24 stock. No reboots or any issues. The gps can be fixed in several ways. I ran Faster fix and GPS Fix. Now it lock before map is even loaded. The reboot issue can usually be fixed by a good clean install.

What version did you flash from? I have not had any problems with the random reboots. I have been flashing every tweaked calk rom since fc05. They don't even require format to get up and running.
The only problem I've encountered is that I lost GPS on fc24. I had to use the old "go back to el29 gb for a lock and restore my nandroid backup" trick to get it back.
Did you try the format all and clearing cache?
If you flashed the rom from GB to ICS, then you must make the clean install (using Calk's format all tool). Otherwise, you will experienced the many issues that no one is going to help you because you did not follow the instruction.
I had the same issue after going from 1.3 to 1.3a. No wipe or resets helped. Just went back to el29 like usual and flashed 1.3a again it was fine.

Not so true I've been flashing every ICS leaks and I always make a clean install and I"m in the same boat as him so I did some testing and I found out that when I have 4G on ( in which I always do ) that's when my phone reboot at least 3 or 4 times during the day. Now on 3G it NEVER reboot so I d/l the Calk 1.3a again with clean install and flashed it and I still have the same problem.
Something to this as the reboots were significantly worse when I was on 4g, though not exclusively. The reboots were bad enough on my phone while on ics that am now back to 2.8.1

I can confirm that reboots occur only on 4g

Having the same random reboots. Always do full wipe with calks format all. Tried several different modems and versions.
Sorry guys, after some testing I noticed that only when I leave 4G on do the reboots occurr. I have turned off 4G and it has been going for over 24 hours without reboots. I never use 4G but I felt like using my "unlimited" Sprint data plan so I started to use 4G and then I noticed the reboots.
I have gone from GB to ICS without a clean install, which I believe is the reason why I have the EL29 in my specs.
Seeing as how this version has "a" in the name, I am blaming this on the alpha release.
Hopefully it will get addressed by Calk (who is the man, btw).
Thank you!
I updated phone by going to settings/about phone/system updates and ran the updates and havent noticed any reboots since. But this is at home where I get intermittent 4g so I will know for sure if its fixed when I'm at work tomorrow.
tyler2time: thanks for the info, I just updated Profile and PRL (but Firmware and Android were up-to-date already). I will test this out throughout the day tomorrow and report back.

The EL29 Baseband is the modem you are using. It does not change when you flash a new Rom. You can flash any modem you want to try but they have to be flashed separately. The a in the 1.3a build is because in v1.3, Calkulin accidentally used the FC22 kernel. He uploaded the Rom again with the FC24 kernel and renamed it to 1.3a. I consider every one of these leaks Alpha builds since they are built for testing purposes. Thanks for posting your results.
Hi DataHawg,
Thank you for the info. I found out that the modem is updated independently of the ROM. I am planning to do a format_all and re-install with latest modem, hopefully that will be more stable.
Another strange thing happened: I went to sleep with phone battery at 46% and woke up today with a dead phone. I saw that battery was drained somehow. I don't leave apps/services running except for a few (dropbox, box.net, facebook, twitter).
I will report how the new upgrade goes.
Thank you again, you guys are doing a helluva job here!
Today I read in the original Calkulin thread that modems used in ICS all have trouble with 4G data reboots, so I guess it's a known issue.
But now I'm having another issue with HTC_IME mod crashing. Can anyone help?
Thanks!
EDIT: Found the problem to be text prediction. I turned it off in the HTC_IME mod settings and all works fine now, no crashes so far. Thank you everyone!

[Q] Total Signal Loss, Again

My wife and i got our GNex phones at the same time in April through the Amazon wireless store. Both of our phones had to be repalced by amazon within the 30 day window for 4g/3g/1x signal drop issue. 4g radio would just totally crap out, then would wipe out the 3g and then i would have a complete signal loss. Everything was fine after we got the replacement phones. My wifes phone is totally stock and has had zero issues. Mine is rooted running AOKP toro IMM761, Android 4.04. 4 days ago it started having the rampant 4g signal crash issue again. I've turned off the 4g radio for now, but according to NoSignalAlert, with just the 3g radio on i've had complete signal loss 7 times today. I'm in the same area as usual, my house and my office where i normally have 2+ bars of 4g. I'm thinking the radio has gone bad in this phone, like it did in both of our previous GNex phones, it just took this one 6 months to die. Now i have to deal with Verizon Wireless to get a replacement. They are wanting to make sure i'm on the most current build, baseband etc. Here are my questions.
1 - What is the most current stock ROM, radio, build etc. that i an put back on my phone to both a)make sure that a rooted app/baseband etc. is not all of a sudden causing this issue and b) i can talk to VZW and they won't know i've rooted the phone.
2 - Once i return the phone to a stock ROM, i assume that I will have to do an OTA to satisfy the VZW tech. If the phone does not need to be replaced, i.e. the OTA fixes it, will i still be able to root back to an AOKP ROM?
3 - Is there some other update i should try before going the "unrooted" route and trying to talk with Verizon?
Thanks for your help.
Chris

Here are the VZW radios for the Gnex. Personally I would try flashing the new one [4.1.1 (JRO03O)] with a JB ROM. I was on AOKP for pretty much the entire life of my Gnex, 8 months, and never tried CM10. Flashed CM and besides the Nav bar, which I like better in AOKP, I have seen substantial improvements in performance, stability, and even better battery life. If you are determined to stay with AOKP I would still update to the JB version and try those "new" radios.
I started having the same problem a couple days ago when flashing a ROM went bad so I had to restore to an old (4+ mo. old) backup. From there I flashed factoryrom jb and then flashed the new radios today Cuz I just noticed the lack of signal. Still no bars anywhere. Any other thoughts? Do you think flashing a CM would fix it? If so, why?

What is selected in settings-more-mobile network-network mode?
data enabled is checked, and network mode is LTE/CDMA
I was gonna try to find a fix today and if i can't find one, flash to complete stock, reroot/mod etc.

Well, your settings are good to go. Did you check the md5 sum of the radio file after you downloaded it? If you have root explorer hold down on the .zip file and choose properties to check the sum and make sure it matches.
hahaha i guess that's what I get for trying to download a radio on crappy mall WiFi... the MD5 was bad :-/ works good now! thanks!

Hmm, it did this "need to restart SIM to work properly" crap, restarted and stopped working. Any thoughts? I'm installing franco kernel to see if that helps
Welp I ended up just flashing the factory image hahaha, will reinstall ROM and see how it goes. Everything seems to be working fine right now though
Glad it was something simple like that to get you back up and running.:good::highfive:

I d/l the 4.1.1 radio and flashed it in clockwork, and though the flash said it completed successfully, i don't see a way to check the radio version. I don't see 4.1.1 JR03O listed anywhere in the About Phone information...Where should i be looking?
Further, my prboblem seems to have further degaded ...With the 4g radio on, i get random total shut down of the phone, as opposed to simple radio crashes. Just goes to off with black screen. I'm up to try anything. I assume i can easily locate one of these JB ROM's in the dev section?

The baseband i think. Mine is I515.09 V.FF02 / I515.FG02.
I'm not all that knowledgable about the radios I just know my reception/data was poor on JB ROM with ICS radios. When I flashed the JB radio, my issues were fixed. I believe the ROM and radio versions should match, so if you flash JB radio I would flash JB ROM. All the info should be in the thread that is linked.

I am such an idiot, this whole time you've been talking about JB ROMs i assumed you meant some particular brand of ROM, like AOKP or Myn etc... It didn't dawn on me until i saw JB next to ICS that you meant Jelly Bean ROM.
Ok i'm running an AOKP Jelly Bean ROM with Android 4.1.2
baseband is the same as yours
Build is aokp_toro-userdebug 4.1.2 JZo54K
The radio problem seems to be resolved. Thanks for the point in the right direction!
oops, accidentally wiped my sd card when i was restoring back to factory... TOTAL back to factory hahaha.... which isn't so bad i guess... after a year it's about time I guess
I seem to lose signal when leaving wifi though, have to either airplane mode or reboot. Because I had my phone so long, I don't know if there was connection or dust issues, so I did the classic NES/SNES/Sega Gen trick, took the sim card out, blew in there and all that. Seems to still be going ok.
Fyi.. i a simple restart doesnt disconnect u from the towers.. u need to turn off, pull battery, pull sim, and wait for 10 20 sec. That will disconnect u fully..

Stuck on 1xRTT radio after multiple flash, unbricking a soft brick

I've been at it for the last 24 hours ever since I lost 3G connection on CM10.3 (had 10.1 and 10.2) over a week ago. I thought it was the tower for few days.
Things I've done:
- Format system/cache/Dalvik
- Flashed a new stock ROM & ended up upgrading to version with KNOX which I later found out, but NO 3G still after PRL update, etc
- Got out of the soft brick by downloading Philz Touch Recovery
- Flashed latest CM11 which got my phone back
- Tried multiple radio flash
- Battery in/out (left it out 15 min)
- Sprint rep sent refresh signal
And still, stuck on 1x mode even though it says 3G. Not even getting more than 0.01kbps testing.
I'm starting to think there's something wrong with my radio. Never had any issue with this phone (other than random freezing here and there) until I lost my 3G. Thoughts? I've had my GSIII for little over a year now.
Thank you
