[Q] CyanogenMod 7.0.0-RC2 (HTC Vision) - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Had great success with CyanogenMod 7 RC1 and the #12 nightly (from 3/2/2011) on my G2.
Just wrapped up a quick flash to RC-2, but quickly started seeing weirdness, namely a continuous reboot to the CyanogenMod 7 bootup animation (blue skating android). Has anyone else ran into this on RC2 on the G2?
For now, restoring my nandroid backup from the #12 nightly which seemed pretty solid.
Also, fwiw, any US T-mobile users running into GPS issues (not locking) on the newest radio (26.06.02.27), I can confirm downgrading the radio back to 26.03.02.26 fixed this problem in my scenario.

Yes, same behavior. No idea about the radio and GPS. Just got my G2 today

I had the same issue when I went from RC1 to RC2, it kept rebooting so I just turned it off and it rebooted normal and has been working good ever since, maybe I just got lucky, idk.

If you're having bootloops try to do a reflash of the zip and reboot.
Many GPS issues have been fixed in the latest couple nightlies. For many people flashing the new radio doesn't work.
I've had GPS issues for a while on the stock T-mo radio, and it works fine now with the latest nightlies.
For detailed posts and info on the GPS, go read the nightly forum, there's 100000 posts on it.

Also can go other way. Fixed my GPS No Lock problem in CM7-RC1 going from 26.03.02.26 to 26.06.02.27
Perhaps it doesn't matter what radio you use, it just needs the radio to be flashed??? (YMMV, I'm still newb-ish)

[Q] GPS issues since flashing ROM & radio

Hi guys,
Very new to XDA devs so apologies if this is a simple one
I have a Desire HD rooted, ENG S-OFF, radio S-OFF, Android Revolution HD 3.1, radio 12.35d.60.140fP_26.06.03.24.M2 and no matter what I try the GPS will not work. As far as I can see the radio I am using was the one recommended for use with this ROM? BTW everything else works great.
I tried flashing back to stock 1.36 and the GPS works no problems. I don't think this is a ARHD specific issue as I tried CM7 with the same problem.
Any ideas please?
i have been having GPS issues as well. Sock works and for me Android Revolution HD 3.1 worked very well 3.2 started to get a bit iffy.
I am on CM7 RC2 and its working now, i am still testing thou, but i have been through a lot of radios. I am testing this one atm http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=996630

I will try and flash that radio when I get home from work, anyone think there would be issues flashing 12.35d.60.140fU_26.08.03.07_M onto a DHD with ARHD 3.1? Still quite new to this so really don't want to brick my baby lol.
Thanks
Ok, I decided to give it a second go. I did a full wipe, reinstalled ARHD 3.1 via recovery and then reflashed the radio 12.35d.60.140fP_26.06.03.24.M2 and all works now GPS locks in 5-6s max. The only difference between this install and the last one was I manually wiped the device this time (davlik cache etc) instead of using the recovery reset.

[Q] Cant get GPS to work on nightly

hey guys
any fix for gps in nightly builds?
i cant get it to work at alll
any help?
I've been using stock radio all throughout CM and the last time it worked for me was with build 4. I'm on build 28 or 29 now, but read somewhere in the thread that reflashing the stock radio worked for them, so I tried it. I am on a G2, whose stock radio is the 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M. I flashed the nightly, then reflashed the radio. I can't get a GPS lock in my house (I've been able to do it before), but I tried it a few miles away while at an In-And Out drive-thru and I got a lock within seconds and was able to use navigation just fine with voice.
G2 stock radio download link (verify this is your current radio if you're on stock)
Radio thread (instructions too - fastboot with the radio renamed on the root of sd card)
I'm not sure how this plays out in the past two nightlies, but this worked for me. You'd probably have to reflash the radio every nightly.
If you're on a Desire Z, I'd recommend checking what radio you're on and looking for it in that radio thread and trying to flash your current radio after the nightly.
cheers ill try it i have the europe htc desire z so ill have to find the stock radio
thanks!!!
Or you can use RC2....

nah the rc2 doesnt work for me either ive tried all the nightly builds and cyanogen mod rc1 and rc2 and they dont work shame, the only trouble i have is with gps.
i have a question, my radio is this one:
Vision_RADIO_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26
MD5 Check Sum: CB45ED9CB543E433E49B8022FC17ACB9
from OTA Update Tmobile rom 1.22
however my phone is the desire z straight from htc, does it matter if the radio i flash is from the tmobile rom
thanks
When I did mess with my radios, the GPS started working but my phone stopped recognizing HSDPA, even after going back to the stock radio. I went back to 6.1.1 then restored my previous 7 nightly. The "H" symbol came back but my GPS vanished. I did try the RIL auto-matching install, but that came up with nothing.
I'll do more searching, but this is a weird situation.
Are you talking about cm7 nightlys? Cuz they fixed it on #29 I think. Well I have #30 nd it is working
Sent from my SilverBullet "HTCDesireZ running CM7"
okay ill try and flash again lol
and i know its weired lol i tried using the gps status and tools but it just keeps showing the loading circle lol
ah well, its not that much of a big deal, i spose roms are developing every day so hopefully there will be a fix soon lol
thanks

[Q] New CM7 question

So I updated my DInc to CM7 and updated the kernel to the latest Incredikernal version.
Two days ago, I noticed that I had no 3G connection at all, but could still make phone calls/send SMS. I updated to the latest build (33 I think) and the issue still persists. What next?
Try goin to rc4 see ifit fixes wait to flash kernel cw just may hav not wiped properly
sent from dinc
I heard there were problems with RC4 and Build 33 so im still on build 32.
Just a quick update - I did a *228 after posting this question - thought it might have something to do with Verizon as they are updating my area to the 4G LTE and my wife's phone (DInc - unrooted) was having similar issues. Upon doing the *228 and waiting about 15 minutes, everything was back to working normally. Just a heads up if others are having similar issues.

Couple of issues with Wifi/Radio updates

So I recently installed MIUI, and as soon as I did my Wifi radio stopped working. Every time I try to switch it, it turns back off and says "error."
I figured this was a problem with my radio (26.02.01.15_M2) when I found another irksome problem. When I go to flash PC10IMG.zip the bootloader gets to "Checking PC10IMG.zip) and then quits and refuses to attempt the update.
Any ideas?
I apologize if this question has been asked, but I couldn't find anything similar in the short search I did.
Thanks in advance!
Could be a bad download? Which Radio are you trying to flash?
Download the radio from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970809
Dont know what ROM you are running but Vision_Radio_12.52. 60.25_26.08.04.30 seems to be a good one, download the attached file for wiping the EFS(Important when flashing radios)
The link has further instructions and information, hope that helps
Hey, thanks for your response! I actually tried three different Radios from that thread (the first three), and none of them worked. I ran an efs wipe yesterday because I was having GPS problems, and these problems persisted after that...
FWIW, when I flash other kernels/ROMs, things work fine (CM7, PyroMod, Stock) but on MIUI these problems crop up.

Do you mean you can update the radio with other ROMs or do you mean that the wifi problem is only on MIUI?If your problem is only with MIUI cant help as I dont use that ROM but still doesnt explain your problem with flashing a radio as the bootloader is independent of the ROM
I think the wifi radio and the cellular radio are different and when you flash the radio firmware, it only updates the cellular radio firmware. Someone more knowledgable than me will probably correct me. It's probably something screwy with the MIUI roms which is effecting you. If you want to use MIUI then try one of the other MIUI roms that are out there and also notify the developer of the MIUI rom your using about your issue.
I hate the recent radios for G2 latest one from Bell sucks. Signal drops every few seconds, data connection is just OK. Very disappointed. I did the efs wipe and auto ril matcher V6 and all this other bs and I hate it.

[Q] Wi-Fi doesn't work. Need help. I'm new to this.

Hello, I'm new here to this and to the flashing stuff and rest.
I wanted to do some change to my buzz so I just flashed my 2.2.1 to 2.3.7 (CyanogenMod-7.1.0.1).
Everything was fine, flashed Gapps also.
The only thing is my wi-fi isn't working.
It can't even connect. It's like refreshing by 3 secs and doing that in a circle.
/// What I Did:
- Reflashed CyanogenMod twice.
- Reflashed my radio (the newest version anyway).
/// Specs:
- Android 2.3.7
- CyanogenMod-7.1.0.1
- Radio 3.35.20.10
- HBOOt 6.01.1002
- S-OFF
Did everything today and WiFi was working in the morning perfectly (on 2.2.1)
Just let me know if you want to know something more. Thanks guys.
Heard that Regulatory domain may cause that problem. Tips?
There is a cm mod 7.2 and that must fix it i think

first of all: you asked if regulatory domain could have to do with your problem. If you have access to your WiFi's settings you could check that by simply changing the channels (the procedure for that might be totally different in different routers). From my experience I doubt it anyway but I might be wrong here.
Another possibility to check if your phone's WiFi works or not would be to log into a different network - no idea if you could do that.
The reason I'm suggesting this first is, we could of course suggest things you might try with your phone - but - if your WiFi is the problem this might take some days and wasting lots of posts without any result or help
Did you do wipe all? I think if you installed CyanogenMod 7.2 it would be ok then. Give a try
Some tests that you can do:
- Flash an older radio, to see if the radio didn't got corrupted somehow. Reboot the phone and then flash the newer again;
- Flash the stable CM7.2;
Did you have issues with the stock ROM and the wifi?
